Bible Question: In my bible(NLT), it says that you will live a long, good life. Well, if bad things happen to good people, than how can this be true? (Prov 4:10) |
Bible Answer: Hello NewBeliver, Welcome to the flock of Jesus Christ! I think what you asked was a good question. I have gathered from all I have read in God's Word many things on your question and your statement in quoting Proverbs. I can not address exactly what bad things have happened to the good people you speak of, but rest assured if there are bad things happening to good people, they are receiving what God has seen fit according to HIS will. Sometime it is a spiriutal spanking, most times for me, it is to draw us back to HIM. We live in a world filled with worldly things and we are not to be caught up in them and yet, sometime we are; therefore, GOD must make HIS presence known again to us and we should let HIM take over and guide us again. With God All things are possible and He never said it would always be what we consider good for us. Only HE knows what is good for us and how to achieve it. I don't know exactly where but The Word does say: "Honor thy Father and Mother so your days will be long upon the Earth." Since this is one of our Ten Commandments to live by it only makes sense we do them all and believe in all of them. We can look at the scriptures and learn from them in following His Word in every word He gave us. When what we deem bad happens to others that are good, HE does indeed have a plan and sometimes it is done in reaching someone outside the realm of what is happening. They see it and they wonder HOW did this happen and then they see the results of it by the trust and belief in GOD to take care of it. Remember this, God uses sinners too for HIS good! I hope this helps you find the answer you seek. Yours In Christ! |
