Subject: Heaven is our home. |
Bible Note: Aspilos There are two aspects here first when we die our spirit goes to be with the Lord who is now at the right hand of God our Father in Heaven. However we are told later our spirits will be once again be united with our bodies, which have become immortal. The implication is we will once again become physical beings. As such Jesus has assured us He has provided a place for us to dwell. The terms Jesus used to describe this abiding place are terms like beautiful, splendorous, wonderful and etc. Since we know Jesus will be there with us also I would expect the place not to be too shabby. In fact mansion might even fall short. :-) Our actual final home isn’t heaven but rather the city New Jerusalem. To have a city you would expect buildings and such. We are told this city will descend out of the heavens to take it’s place on the New Earth. We are told that the natural people (those that came through the Millennium) will have access to the city. Again see physical narrative. It is said we will dwell in the city with Jesus and that we will be rulers with Jesus. More physical narrative. So yes while I definitely see a spiritual side of these verses, I also see a very physical side. EdB |
