Bible Question (short): Isn't omission of truth a lie? |
Question (full): But doesn't this seem like flat out cowardice? Abraham was scared of what would happen to himself, so he denied his relationship to, love for, and responsibility to his wife...to avoid personal risk. To avoid risk to himself, he gave his WIFE to the pharoah to be part of his harem, who paid Abram with various livestock and servants...he gave her up as his sister also to Abimelech, who also gave Abraham livestock and servants, land and silver to keep from being cursed/killed...this strikes me as little more than deceptive baiting for profit. Yes, Abraham technically told the truth when he said Sarah was his sister...but did he tell the whole truth? Isn't omission of truth a lie? |
