Subject: Studying O.T. is creating problems. |
Bible Note: Dear Freethinker, Sorry, I was away for a few days and just received your response in my e-mail. You do challenge me to want to be able to explain the wonderful things that the Lord has shown me through the years that have answered so many of my questions. First of all, there was not enough space before to answer some of the things that are tugging on your heart. For instance the concept that Adam and Eve were cave men so to speak. The Bible does not teach us that you know. Actually, think about it. Don't you think that the two first people made by the direct touch of the hand of Almighty God would be quite unique and perfect specimins? I look at it this way. The further away mankind has digressed from God's way, the more he has (in some instances) sunk to the state of cave man. Look at the civilization of Egypt and look at the Dark Ages in Europe. I believe the concept that we are evolving into something better on our own is really not biblical. It seems to me that we digress the further away we go from God's original plan for mankind. We are digressing not progressing. If a great civilization takes a catastrophic blow, those who escape, usually are unable to continue. For instance, imagine for a moment that a meteor hit the United States...that it was enough to only destroy our's and western society as we know it and a small population escaped. With technology destroyed, we may remember it and maybe some of the more educated would know how to use things but they would live among the ruins unable to duplicate it. The next generation would grow up having lost the technology. Do you see what I mean? I couldn't actually build a car, but I can drive one. I couldn't outfit a whole hospital, stock it and staff it, but I have used them. I couldn't set up a TV or radio station, but I am familiar and actually depend on them. Yet, even in our modern age there are some civilizations that have become as backward as cave men. We are capable of becoming that low but I don't think man, without the help of God, can ever stop destroying, making war and causing trouble in this world. If you set up a kind dictator to establish order for a nation in trouble, for that initial generation, things may go well. However, eventually someone will come into power that will misuse the privilege and be indifferent to the common man or downright cruel for his own benefit. History shows us that we can count on that. The Bible does not condone or encourage situations such as slavery. However, the Bible tells it like it is and they were a fact of life at the time of the Biblical writings. In fact, slavery still does exist is some areas of the world today. Concerning the Smart girl I would say, it was not a lack of grace or faith that she was taken in the first place. It was because of the sin of the man who kidnapped her. God has not taken away his free will to do right or to do wrong. Have you never seen instances in the Bible where good God-fearing persons have been wronged by those who practice evil. However, the Bible teaches us that even so, Romans 8:28 applies here which says: "And we kbow that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are the called according to His purpose." So, I believe that God will use this experience that the young Smart girl has come through for the greater good of her and probably all those around her. One last thing. Becoming an atheist because of the shortcoming of any amount of persons should not be the case. This is about you and your God. It should be between you and your God. In this world you will find no perfect human...not even among church leaders. I pray that through this forum or any other way that the Lord sees fit, that you come across someone who lets the Lord truly shine through them that you may really see God working in love, despite the faults they will have. Only God is perfect, and what you may be searching for can be found only in Him. I wish you well, and will keep you ever in my prayers. Itiswritten. |
