NASB | Genesis 4:7 "If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 4:7 "If you do well [believing Me and doing what is acceptable and pleasing to Me], will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well [but ignore My instruction], sin crouches at your door; its desire is for you [to overpower you], but you must master it." |

Bible Note: "Example: A rich benefactor who hates Jesus Christ giving large sums of money to charitable organizations to glorify himself. He refrains from greed in order to feed his pride. Outwardly, his deeds look good, but are not motivated by a desire to love the Lord his God with all his heart, mind, soul, strength." You work on the assumption that ALL motives are evil? That is a terribly sad view of man. I do not. I operate on the assumption that people are basically good. They are sinful and in need of God's grace, but they have the ability to operate from pure and selfless motives. There is a thing called nobility. Understanding the sinfulness of man does not require that we impugn his every action. I am new to this forum so I don't know if this is a common belief. If it is, that's too bad.
