AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 3:22 ¶ And the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), knowing [how to distinguish between] good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take from the tree of life as well, and eat [its fruit], and live [in this fallen, sinful condition] forever"-- |
Bible Question:
"The curse of sin does not carry physical death but rather spiritual death. Physical death occurs as a result of sin..." Hi, Ed, Which one is it? Does sin result in physical death, or does sin not result in physical death? The curse for disobedience was death of the whole man, both spiritual (which occurred first) and physical (which occurred later). The gap between the beginning and end of death is not as important as that it included the whole man, body and soul. The order is the same in salvation. The relationship is restored first (the spiritual, the soul). The incorruptible body is resurrected later. So, everlasting life includes the whole man, body and soul. The death is total, and the life He gives is to the whole man also. God is not Platonic such that he is only concerned about the soul (I'm not saying that you're saying this.) He created Man body and soul; He will redeem man through Christ body and soul. |
Bible Answer: Lionstrong you say, “God is not Platonic such that he is only concerned about the soul … He created Man body and soul; He will redeem man through Christ body and soul.” Your right I’m not saying God only focuses on our spirt, however I really believe God is more interested in our eternal state rather than our physical state. Man on the other hand focuses on temporal instead of eternal. If man lives hundred years that is nothing compared to eternity. If God heals a man of cancer and the man live another 25 years Praise God, but the miracle still dies after 25 years. If God saves a man that miracle lives for eternity. Praise God! God has said man’s physical life is but a wisp of smoke in relation to time. However man’s spirit life is eternal. Even the pit of fire and brimstone is for ever and ever. I believe God cares more about where we are going to spend eternity than he does about this our physical life. I believe God sent his only begotten Son Jesus to die for eternal well being not our physical well being. I will say that Jesus’ death did effect our physical well being in that we no longer are faced with the eternal separation from God. Also now that we are back in relationship with God we can ask for and expect to receive help in our physical situation. Again I give this verse it to me says it all Romans 8:5 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. |
