AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 3:22 ¶ And the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), knowing [how to distinguish between] good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take from the tree of life as well, and eat [its fruit], and live [in this fallen, sinful condition] forever"-- |
Subject: Why was there a tree of life in Eden? |
Bible Note: I believe that our friend THECROSS is a Catholic, and he has an interesting point of view to share that is different from my own, since I am a Protestant. The fact that there is a tree of life shows us that man did indeed have the potential to live forever in unbroken harmony with God! There was a choice to be made- which tree would man eat from first?? If it was the tree of life, then man would have lived forever with God and in His presence! If it was the tree of knowledge of good and evil: well, we all know what happened... It is interesting to note that man was specifically commanded by God not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil (but he still ate it first). Man was not given a similar command to avoid the tree of life. Nolan |
