Subject: How does God speak to us? |
Bible Note: Dear Lionstrong, I found that God sometimes speaks to us in a still small voice from experience and from 1 Kings 19: 11-18 ...in these verses of Scripture, Elijah had such an experience: "And he [God] said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD, and behold, the LORD passed by and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: and after the earthquake, a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest there, Elijah? And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: ...and Elijah continued his conversation with the Lord... As far as "inside" all I can say, sometimes it seems to be from inside. The Holy Spirit is inside the believer. It seems to be inside but not from your own self...something you would not think to say or say in that way and it must not contradict Scripture...that's why we need to know the Word so we can tell if it is truly God. It is a still voice because it is not hurrying, or emphatic as though you would not have time to think...God is never rushed and His way is peace and He doesn't have to yell to communicate authority. That's what I mean. And, of course, He can speak to us in any number of other ways. I hope that answers you question alright. Sincerely, Itiswritten. |
