921 | What constitutes true repentance? | 1 Pet 2:25 | CDBJ | 179397
Greetings Achilles and welcome to the forum. When you say “repent” are you referring to that which was spoken of by Christ as in Luke 13:3? Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. I want to make sure we are both on the same page. I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

922 | When were Cornelius and comapny saved? | 1 Pet 3:21 | CDBJ | 113715
Hello Rowdy, According to your definition for salvation you might not be saved yet; what if you are overlooking one of God’s commands, legally, by what you have said that might be the case? Maybe you are overlooking 17 of God’s commands by the way, how many are there, I have never heard the exact amount. Have you actually sold all of your positions yet and given the money to the poor? It sounds like you still trying to do something so you can have eternal life? Matthew 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? It doesn’t look like you have sold everything yet because you are still on the Internet! Food for thought, don’t you think? It sounds like you sure are trying hard but how are you actually doing according to God’s standard, he does have a standard you know? Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. You better forget the work mentioned in James until you get the gift. It sound like you are putting the cart before the horse, and you haven’t even got a horse yet. Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; With all your keeping and doing and trying where does grace fit into the picture or is grace no longer grace? Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that NOT OF YOURSELVES: it is the GIFT of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. You are trying to do something to get the GIFT, and in that case it won’t be a gift; you are going to receive wages and the only wages we can receive is death. That doesn’t sound like good new to me, CDBJ |

924 | end time fire, is it real or not? | 2 Pet 3:7 | CDBJ | 107681
Hy Big Mo,God spells it out and exactly when he will do it , he is coming to secure his own , then turns the torch on those that are left. 2 Thes. 1:6-10 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; 7And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. One needs to be residing in the proper camp when this happens. Have a great day ,CDBJ |

925 | the world will be destroyed by fire | 2 Pet 3:7 | CDBJ | 210405
Hi Joycee and welcome to the forum. Here are some more verses that you might want to add to your collection, they also give an approximate time when it will occur. 2 Thes. 1:7-10 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. 926 | 1 day is 1000 years, why? | 2 Pet 3:8 | CDBJ | 39457
Don't forget to look at the word, as, it set up an analogy for the thousand years. What it is saying in effect is that God is not constrained by time like we are. A thousand years to God mean no more to him then one day does to us.
927 | I hate to appear ignorant | 2 Pet 3:9 | CDBJ | 81321
I have been a Christian since 1965 and I probably have a pretty fair knowledge of the Bible and that term, (TULIP), was new to me. I stick mainly to what the Bible teaches me and I don’t know much about religion and denominational stuff seeing that I was saved just by believing in Jesus from reading the Bible on my own with the Holy Spirit doing the teaching. Sometimes these little acronyms help us to remember doctrine but if they aren’t cast in stone, biblically, I let them go. Don’t ever be “too sacred” to ask a question, just remember the verse in Peter, this is partly how we grow. 1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Consider all things and hold fast to that which is good; prove all things by comparing all the Scripture on that subject. If I might appear dumb in order to learn something so what, who am I trying to impress? The Lord already knows everything there is to know about me, He is the one we should be impressing! Matthew 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. Have a nice day, CDBJ |

928 | Familiar Spirits | 1 John | CDBJ | 15999
Try I John 4:3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. CDBJ |

929 | Can someone sin after salvation ? | 1 John | CDBJ | 21271
The question would be easer if you had ask, if there is anyone that hasn't sinned after salvation. God is so perfect and Holy and we are locked into these old sinful bodies that have a propensity toward sinning. It is almost an impossibility not to sin, but the great part is that we can keep short accounts with the Father by exercising I John 1:9 There are some that are deluded in there thinking about sinless perfection after salvation. The book of I John is a good one to cover that subject. I hope this helps, I know I need to use it all the time. It's a good thing that I have a perfect Savior in Jesus that God sees when He looks at me. CDBJ
930 | Is sinless perfectionism Bible doctrine? | 1 John 1:8 | CDBJ | 82138
Hello Radioman2, I can safely say that sinless perfection is as far away from me as my last breath. I still have to deal with my old sin nature in this body day by day and I must praise the Lord for revealing the truth about Jesus to me because I didn’t deserve it then and I still don’t deserve it. If it weren’t for I John 1:9 I would be in a world of hurt. In my estimation anyone who “thinks” that they have reached sinless perfection must not realize just how Holy and pure God really is. The fact that some are thinking that way to me it is a sin in it’s self. I don’t even think, in our finite minds, that we can fathom how Holy, pure and righteous and awesome God really is. Jesus is God’s standard for sinless perfection and it has only been met once in all of human history. I sure appreciate the fact that when I believed in Jesus that God imputed the righteousness of Christ to my account for my future tally when I stand before Him. 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Have a nice day, CDBJ |

932 | Actual bodies in heaven? | 1 John 3:2 | CDBJ | 213869
Greetings, I would like to direct your attention to the verses in Luke 16:18-31 where the individual found himself in hell. Every one of the senses associated with the body with the exception of the sense of smell are mentioned. When those who put all of their hope for eternal life in the person of Jesus the Christ they are promised a body like that of Christ at the resurrection. It will be a body that will be able to function just as our present bodies yet without the draw back of wearing out seeing that it won’t have an old sin nature. We will be able to function on this Earth, which will also be resurrected, where in dwells perfect righteousness. 2 Peter 3:13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. The souls that are temporally residing in heaven are quite restricted until they receive their eternal bodies. Rev. 6:9-11 And when He broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained; 10and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, wilt Thou refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?" 11And there was given to each of them a white robe; and they were told that they should rest for a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren who were to be killed even as they had been, should be completed also. 934 | CDBJ, Why can't you prove it by Bible? | 1 John 3:9 | CDBJ | 144942
Hello, I don’t remember saying that it can’t be proven. I just don’t want to go through all of the ramifications that it would take to do it, when Pastor Thieme’s book does a fine job of proving it, and with more scripture then I can remember anyway. His Books are all free all you have to do is exert the effort to get one! I don’t want to take the time to rewrite his book on the forum just to satisfy someone’s curiosity, when all they have to do is get the same book that I got for FREE, that’s why I suggested the web site. I could give you all the information that you would need to take off and land an airplane in writing on this forum but unless you were really interested, that is, enough to take flying lessons and do it on your own, it would be a waste of my time and yours! I have never written a book on the fundamentals for a new student pilot and you would be better off with hands on instruction!!!!!! I guess I will have to put it to music, Take it or leave it!! End of discussion, CDBJ |

935 | Is your salvation genuine? | 1 John 5:13 | CDBJ | 27502
If you want to know for sure if you are saved, let God convince you. Study in his word every day especially in the New Testament. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. There will be times when you will doubt your salvation and this is normal unless you know a lot of Scripture. When one stops and thinks about it, unsaved people don't wake up in the morning thinking about the Lord. At some point in a believers morning, thoughts of the Lord cross their minds; this didn't happen before they were born again! That is what is meant by having the witness, coupled with having, as it were, the down payment or earnest of the Spirit. 1 John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 2 Cor. 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. It is interesting to note the word sealed. It meant that you were safe because the King had wax put across the opening of say a door and then pressed his signet ring into the wax. If anyone messed with the Kings mark it was sure death. And that is how sure our salvation is once we trust in God's Son Jesus Christ. The word earnest means the down payment, which is God's Holy Spirit Himself and your body is where He dwells. 1 Cor. 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? |

936 | Can fallen spirit filled saints repent? | 1 John 5:13 | CDBJ | 41271
You ask,can a spirit filled believer repent. My understanding is that if they are Spirit filled, capital S, they have already used I John 1:9 and don't need to repent. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. When this is done God is back in control of our lives. i.e. we are filled. We can lose this filling by grieving, or quenching the Spirit; the direct result of sin or the old sin nature controlling our lives instead of God. Ephes. 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 1 Thes. 5:19 Quench not the Spirit. God promises us that he will never leave us or forsake us. Hebrews 13:5 B I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. God is always in the believer but not always in control. Thus when God is put back in control, by the believer confessing all known sin, the believer is automatically filled by the spirit. A believer can do nothing that is pleasing to God when that believer is operating under the power of the flesh or the old sin nature, that is why Jesus said that we must abide in him. Every thing that a believer does that will count for anything must be done in the power of the Spirit. The filling of the Spirit is an absolute, you are either 100 percent filled with the Spirit or your old sin nature is in control, it is one or the other; not a little bit of both. Either God is controlling the believer's life or their old sin nature is. John 15:1-5 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. It doesn't pay to be out of fellowship too long. A believer should keep short account by the use of I John 1:9 |

937 | the sin that does not lead to death is ? | 1 John 5:16 | CDBJ | 136909
Greetings yondering and welcome to the forum. What translation are you using that says eternal death? 1 John 5:16 (KJV) If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. There are seven different types of death mentioned in the Bible and only one of them is eternal!! Example Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. The previous verse is divided into two parts, which are antithetical; one assures eternal death the other eternal life! Into which category, would you say a brother would fit, there is no middle ground, so it is referring to physical death not eternal death; the Lord just might take him home to orientate him, if he doesn’t want to listen to reason and sound advise from a brother! Have a great day, CDBJ |

938 | Where did evil come from? | 1 John 5:19 | CDBJ | 110779
Hello wordsmith1970, Here is something in addition to what Makarios presented that sheds some light on the originator of lies, which is a sin. John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. Rev. 2:2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: I think that sin is within the overall realm of evil, as it were and satan is the father.
