821 | Responsibility of faith | Rom 3:23 | CDBJ | 171894
Greetings Bbq, and welcome to the forum. I like your comment about people saying that they are good, but the word good is actually a relative term. When people make a statement like that they usually mean that they are good compared to someone else, and they always pick out someone who doesn’t appear good according to “their” personal standard to measure themselves by; that's a hoot! The real question is how do they measure up to God’s standard? God has a standard that everyone must attain in order to spend eternity with Him. Matthew 5:48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. There is only one way that a person can be that perfect! Speaking of Jesus; 2 Cor. 5:21 For he (God) hath made him (Christ) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; (speaking of Jesus) that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. People that claim to be good are literally placing their good on the balance beam of God’s justice and Jesus in on the other end of the scale and everyone comes up short or lacking according to God’s standard. We live in a society that doesn’t believe in the free lunch and everybody believes that they have to do something for their salvation. God says that He has done everything necessary for mans salvation in the person of His Son Jesus the appointed one, but most aren’t willing to trust what God did for them and give up trying. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. Grace means we can't earn it no matter how good "we" think we are. The ones that have trusting in the finished works of Christ have given up trying to be “good”, as it were, and are just relying on Jesus; they have come to the end of their “good” works. Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Hebrews 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 1 John 5:10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. [11] And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. [12] He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. [13] These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. The word “believe” doesn’t mean to just acknowledge that Jesus existed; It means to rely on and trust in the person of God’s unique Son Jesus and what He did on the cross for us. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Have a great day and enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

822 | Can there be a doctine of atonement ? | Rom 5:11 | CDBJ | 113554
Hi Ken, The word atonement KAPHER in the Hebrew in its purest meaning of the word meant to cover. Sin that were atoned for were still there but they were covered until they could be completely taken away, as it were. Examine Luke 16:19-31 Luke 16:19-31 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. When Christ came on the scene he was going to be the perfect sacrifice that would actually take those sin away. John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Those that had died before Christ had paid the perfect price only had their sins covered until such time as God would pay the perfect price, that He required, through the person of His Son Jesus, to completely remove those sins so that the ones in paradise could go into the presents of God forever. Ephes. 4:8-10 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 9(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) Believers, since the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, go directly in the presence of God. 2 Cor. 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. The wording, present with the Lord actually means face to face. ] Have a great day, CDBJ |

825 | IS IT A SIN AFTER YOU DIE TO BE CREMATE? | Rom 6:23 | CDBJ | 170024
Hello Mzavala and welcome to the forum, Even if it were a sin but it’s not; the only sin that will make any difference, in the next life, is the sin of not putting all of ones faith and hope in the person of Jesus, God’s Messiah. I have talked to numerous people that are trusting in their church affiliation and their own “good deeds” to try and get eternal life. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. Son’s futile. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Have you received the gift of salvation that God has for you yet? 826 | what is the wages of sin? | Rom 6:23 | CDBJ | 180243
Greetings Wisdom111, I think a lot of times we try to make more out of something then is actually there. Wages, plain pure and simple, are something that we have coming to us as a result of what we justly earned and deserve. I.e. God says we all have death coming to us because we all have sinned. The antithesis or opposite of earning something as the verse in Romans 6:22 states is a gift. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. It’s interesting to note that the word “but” in the English is the word DE in the Koine Greek, which is a contrastive conjunction. God is explaining to us that our “wages”, which is death, is in direct contrast to God’s eternal life which He offering to give us as a Gift. Here comes the strange part, at least it seem that way to me. We can’t really get eternal life by it’s self but if we have something else, eternal life is, well, a by product of the other object. That object is God’s Son Jesus, the special appointed one of God. Check out this next verse and couple it with the Gift of God. 1 John 5:10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. (11) And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, AND THIS LIFE IS IN HIS SON. [12] He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. [13] These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. That Gift of God, eternal life, is the automatic result of believing on, or trusting in and relying on the person of Jesus. John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: With wages, we get the credit, death; with the gift of God, all we can do is accept it by believing what God tells us and give Him all the credit. It’s God’s love gift to us by the death of His Son in our place. The sins of the world were poured out an Christ and judged, he took our punishment and offers us His righteousness. 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. I sure get excited about something that is so fantastic and I have a hard time stopping. I sure hope that all that have read this have come to the point where they have put “all” of the faith and hope and trust in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ! The moment they do it will be the greatest day of their life. With a better day yet to come, CDBJ |

It means one who is not living by the dictates of their old sin nature but is being controlled by their new nature since they are new creatures in Christ. 2 Cor. 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 830 | Alter Calls? | Rom 10:9 | CDBJ | 25172
I know exactly where you are coming from as our pastor does the same thing. It wasn't until I read one of his books that I found out what he was doing, and then it made sense to me. He mentioned that there are fallacies in Christianity such as baptismal regeneration, church membership regeneration, and decisional regeneration. Most true believers know of the first two but not many are aware of the last. I mentioned in another post that there are a lot of so-called believers that think that they are saved because they went forward in someone's service. Really all they did was to jump through someone's psychological hoop. The key is in John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. The only thing that can help a person when going forward in any service is one on one with God's word being opened up by someone who knows Scripture; a good example is in Acts. Acts 8:26-35 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. 27And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, 28Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. 29Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. 30And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? 31And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. 32The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: 33In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. 34And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? 35Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. We must remember that faith comes by hearing God's word not by walking an aisle. There are some that have faith in the fact that they went forward and they tell how they came to God. There is no mention of Jesus Christ and what He did for them. They are no more saved then before they got up out of their seat. I hope this helps but if I were you I would still talk to the pastor. 831 | relationship with God personal? | Rom 10:9 | CDBJ | 75949
Hi CMOORE, to answer your question I would like to say first of all that there are no grand children in God’s family, all those that are of God’s family are as a result of a direct birth. We become His children one at a time as a result of His Word, the incorruptible seed. 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. It may be accomplished in a crowed but it is the personal work of the Holy Spirit in each individual that causes the life of the new creature in Christ. I read your personal profile and I want to say my heart goes out to you. We don’t have all of the answers but I can tell you this much, God’s plan is perfect and there is a time coming when we will understand it all. Ephes. 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. The Lord has given me a gift to put together Biblical poetry and there is one that I would like to share with you. I’m not sure how the format will come out on the forum but you will get the jest of it, it’s called a voice from beyond. A Voice From Beyond I've passed into a better place of which there is no pain. So loved one keep your grieving short, your loss has been my gain. My state is far much better then the one that you behold. It's the hope that I've been looking for in the days when I’d grow old Though grief may oft consume you with thoughts about our past, Life must go, so please be strong, this grieving will not last. This place is awe inspiring, with much array to view. I've been so overwhelmed with it, I've hardly thought of you. My first day on location I was anything but bored, My first known recollection, I was looking at the Lord. The colors are fantastic, beyond your wildest dreams. Ensuing from His throne on high, an emerald rainbow streams. Enough about my bless for now, the problem's you're forlorn, And how to rectify the day, from which our love was torn. The secret to life’s happiness is not all that absurd. It’s found with-in the Mighty Script of God’s Eternal Word. So keep yourself in hope I ask, make the Bible your main quest, And the Lord will surely comfort you, and put your heart at rest. Make sure my love of which you trust, in abundance of profession. It must be Jesus, not the church, to support your strong confession. Finally love with much ado, use not your loss for scorning. Weeping may endure the night, but joy cometh in the morning. Have a nice day, CDBJ |

833 | Does Christ come into our hearts? | Rom 10:9 | CDBJ | 210298
Greetings Meta, I have no doubt that you were saved when you asked Jesus to come into your heart. The not so obvious situation lies in the fact that what you suggested doesn’t describe “how” you were saved but “when” you were saved. The ONLY means of salvation is by grace through faith, Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. Jesus doesn’t come into ones heart just because they quote some magical phrase as it were, but because they believe and trust in who He is and what He has done for them. The truth be known, you were probable saved minutes before you even opened your mouth because mentally you were trusting in Christ and believed in Him or you wouldn’t have been asking Him to do something for you in the first place. I know what the verse in Romans says about with the mouth confession is made etc. but relying on that verse alone would suggest that a mute couldn’t be saved and we both know better. You quoted the following verse. Ephes. 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, The following verse plainly states that Christ dwells in our hearts by asking him in there right? I jest but I think you see the point? 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Have a great day, CDBJ |

834 | Is hearing necessary for salvation? | Rom 10:17 | CDBJ | 76427
I believe the only thing needed for salvation is perspicacity with regard to the gospel message. When God the Holy Spirit reveals the truth about Jesus to recipient then they must make the choice to believe it or reject it. That way the verse mentioned in Acts can remain true. Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: My two cents worth, CDBJ |

835 | Isreals forfeit ? Riches for the world | Rom 11:11 | CDBJ | 230531
After the fullness of the genitals is completed the Lord is going to graft Israel back in to the true vine. Romans 11:25-32 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. 26And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 27For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. 28As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes. 29For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. 30For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: 31Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. 32For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. Jesus Christ is praised and as a result the whole world will be blesses and at the same time enjoy the benefits of a perfect ruler, Christ Himself. Rev. 20:1-7 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. 4And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. 7And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, CDBJ |

837 | What is the meaning of logike latreia? | Rom 12:1 | CDBJ | 112277
Greetings Toronto Student and welcome to the forum. Although I think your Koine Greek spelling is off a little, LOGIKOS LATERIA, which came to be translated, reasonable service in the KJV. LOGIKON from the root, adjective: accusative, feminine, singular of LOGINKEN, with the word spiritual probably coming closer. And LARERIA, or service is from the base of the noun: accusative, feminine, singular of LATREIAN and carries the meaning of worship. Romans 12:1 KJV I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1 NIV Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1 NASB I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. The Key to this verse lies in the word therefore, which point back to something previous. Romans 11:33-36 NASB Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! 34For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, OR WHO BECAME HIS COUNSELOR? 35Or WHO HAS FIRST GIVEN TO HIM THAT IT MIGHT BE PAID BACK TO HIM AGAIN? 36For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen. I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. No chapter brakes in the original. God has paid the horrendous price to liberate us, by the death of His Son Jesus, so this is the least we could do. Have a great day, CDBJ |

838 | Is the spirit and mnd the same? | Rom 12:2 | CDBJ | 179838
Greeting JE and welcome to the forum. There are several trains of thought on your axiom and I am of the school that believes man was created a three part being, or that Adam was body soul and spirit, until his appetite did him in! When God told Adam not to eat of the forbidden fruit because “in the day” he ate of it he would surely die. I believe Adams spirit died that very day; and that man’s spirit is his receptor for knowledge from God or spiritual information. Genesis 2:17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die. The Bible says that Adam didn’t separate or leave from his body until he was I believe 930 years. Couple that verse with the following. 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. The natural man is one born of Adam and “I believe” he is as such is a man with a “body” and a “soul” but a “dead inoperative spirit”. Thus the need to be born again so that he can receive and perceive information from God. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." The Koine Greek word, used here as see, was the word IDEO. IDEO, carries the connotation of understanding. The understanding of spiritual phenomenon needs an operative spirit to perceive the thing of God in my estimation and not just a mind. I think the next verse shows a correlation but the mind but without the living spirit it won’t function the same way. Ephes. 4:23-24 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, [24] and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. 1 Cor. 2:11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. My two cents worth, and I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

839 | What is the mind a product of? | Rom 12:2 | CDBJ | 179868
Hello JE, I think I can safely say that one's memory is definitely not extinguished at death due to the scriptures that suggest otherwise, if that is what you meant by the mind. Luke 16:19-31 explains a situation that happened in the place of the departed spirits and it’s evident that those within both realms were using the powers of memory. Luke 16:19-31 "Now there was a certain rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, gaily living in splendor every day. [20] "And a certain poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, [21] and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man's table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores. [22] "Now it came about that the poor man died and he was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. [23] "And in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away, and Lazarus in his bosom. [24] "And he cried out and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue; for I am in agony in this flame.' [25] "But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. [26] 'And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, in order that those who wish to come over from here to you may not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.' [27] "And he said, 'Then I beg you, Father, that you send him to my father's house-- [28] for I have five brothers-- that he may warn them, lest they also come to this place of torment.' [29] "But Abraham said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.' [30] "But he said, 'No, Father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!' [31] "But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone rises from the dead.' " I believe that the brain is destroyed at the point of the death of the body but ones memory continues on with his soul. CDBJ |
