81 | Prayer VS. Sin | Ps 66:18 | srbaegon | 228860
Hello Papa Bear, The direct passage you are looking for is probably this one: Psalm 66:18 If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But there are others that consider the state of our spiritual lives before the Lord in regards to his willingness to act on our requests. James 4:1-3 What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. 1 John 3:21-22 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him. You can my profile page for an e-mail address or those of Doctrinsograce, Beja, Morant61, BradK, Makarios to name just a few. (Just click on one of our Userids to get there.) I have communicated with these and others on a personal level and can trust their judgment. It may even be possible for a face-to-face visit if distance was not a factor. Steve |

85 | How can the Son at the end be subject be | 1 Cor 15:28 | srbaegon | 228579
You have moved from pretext to evasion and generalization. I gave you scripture (expanding on 1 John), and you did not address it. Apparently, your argument has no basis, so you turn to rhetorical devices. I will not bite. Steve |

86 | How can the Son at the end be subject be | 1 Cor 15:28 | srbaegon | 228555
Hello SeekTruth, You do a good job of using a portion of the biblical text to make your point. Perhaps using the whole thing will shed light on the truth. The discussion into which you break concerns being children of God. This actually begins at 1 John 2:28 where the referent of the pronouns (abide in him, so that when he appears...) is the Son, whose real coming to earth as messiah and taking on a human nature is the thesis of the epistle. Pick all the cherries you like. The epistle is clear in reference to three co-equal, eternal persons. Steve |

87 | Will all have chance to accept Christ? | Rev 14:6 | srbaegon | 228546
Hello Godchaser77 and welcome, First, the only scripture that says the entire world will hear the gospel is Rev 14:6-7. At the time that is fulfilled we can rest assured all on earth have had opportunity to hear it. Second, Rom 1:19-21 makes plain that all instinctively know God exists, so that many openly reject Him even without hearing the gospel. Steve |

89 | what is a bible translation vs version | Bible general Archive 4 | srbaegon | 228462
Hello angel777, As used by most Christians and publishers, the terms are synonymous. Some might say that versions are a type of translation. For instance, NASB may be a translation with a Ryrie study edition being a version of that translation. Steve |

94 | description of lucifer | Isaiah | srbaegon | 227902
Hello, If I might offer a correction here, we do not know from Scripture who assigned the moniker "light-bearer." We only know that God communicated it through Isaiah. If you have some extra-biblical work that has some historical background that helps, tell on so that we might understand and evaluate it. Steve |

96 | bible's stand on drinking alcohol bevera | Is 25:6 | srbaegon | 227691
Hello, I have an online acquaintance, Bob Hayton, who has researched this in the Bible and written a blog entry which addresses the consumption of wine. His thesis is that while drunkenness is sin, drinking alcohol is not. You can find it at http://www.fundamentallyreformed.com/2006/03/20/wine-gladden-heart/ Having said that, care must be taken so that you do all things from love and not cause your brother to stumble. 98 | fight and contend for your faith | Jude 1:3 | srbaegon | 227597
Hello, Allow me to add another suggestion besides what Makarios gave. Since Jesus told us to make disciples by baptizing and teaching all that He commanded, I recommend doing just that. Baptism establishes our beginning as a believer, not that it saves, but that it marks the firm commitment made--the external witness to not only others but ourselves as well. Teaching is a slow process, but done that way will ground both the teacher and student more certainly in what the Lord desires of His people. Faith grows as we are obedient to what was commanded (Luke 17:5-10). Steve |

100 | How long to buil ark? where is it found? | Genesis | srbaegon | 227334
Hello itsmecbb, Genesis 5:32 says - After Noah was 500 years old, Noah fathered Shem, Ham, and Japheth. So Noah was at least 500 years old when he started building the ark. Then Genesis 7:11 says - In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened. That means total time to build the ark was about 100 years. Steve |
