81 | Is antichrist a man or a spirit? | 1 John 4:3 | prazn | 87420
Is antichrist a spirit or an actual person? May I submit that antichrist is any spirit of person who denies the power of the risen Lord (Jesus Christ) to overcome the power of evil one and relies instead on the power of mere human beings to do what only God can do.
82 | Starve the flesh, feed the Spirit | Gal 2:20 | prazn | 87417
All Christians have two natures: the self-nature (flesh) and the divine nature (spirit). Our spirit is made alive when we first believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, rose again, and reigns in our hearts. The less mature you are in the Lord, the more difficult it is to crucify the "flesh". This is where belief in the cross of Christ comes in. We cannot, in our own strength, overcome the "flesh". All that we can do, and MUST do, is to submit ungodly desires/actions to the Lord. We do this by confessing our desires/actions to the Lord, daily, and by relying upon His power to overcome whatever we are struggling with. For example, suppose that you are a gossip. But, you desperately want the spiritual fruit of love to be manifested within you. Simply go to the Lord in prayer and tell him all about your struggle; be specific. For example, tell the Lord: "I gossip about so-and-so because I envy her" or "I gossip about so-and-so because I'm jealous of him". Tell the Lord that you don't want to be a gossip any longer and confess that you need His help to fulfill His command to love others as ourselves. Then allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you. Look up and meditate on scripture that speaks to loving others (e.g., 1 Cor 13); you're now feeding the spirit. Then commit to demonstrating godly love, as defined by scripture, in ways that are specific and measurable. We cannot merely be hearers of the Word, but doers; so we must commit to specific actions, enabled by the power of the Holy Spirit. At first, it may seem that you are fighting the battle alone. But, our Lord is faithful and He will not tarry to cleanse you of your unrighteousness, nor to relieve you of your burden. This act of confession and repentance to the Lord (i.e., cleansing) should be continual. Everytime that the urge to gossip comes upon you, go through the process again. As long as we live in these earthen vessels, we will have struggles with the "flesh". However, as we learn to rely upon the Lord, we will find ourselves walking more according to the spirit, rather than the flesh. Blessings! |

83 | Active Homosexuals: Truly Christian? | Rom 1:21 | prazn | 87414
In Mark 12:42 our Lord observed a poor widow deposit two (2) copper coins into the treasury of the synagogue. Why was Jesus so concerned about the money that was deposited into the treasury of the synagogue? He certainly didn't take heed to the payment of government taxes (see Mark 12:17), except to tell us to pay them. Perhaps, a better example of a sinful action that is committed out of ignorance is gossip. Most Christians don't believe that they are behaving in a sinful manner when they gossip, however, our Lord tells us what things constitute "evil" (i.e., sinfulness), in Mark 7:20-22: Mark 7:20 And He was saying, "That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man. Mark 7:21 "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, Mark 7:22 deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness. Mark 7:23 "All these evil things proceed from within and defile the man." My point is, "sin" is a heart-condition, NOT an action. Sinful actions results when we worship "self" more than we worship "God". Since I haven't met a perfect believer, yet, that leads me to conclude that there are a lot of folks out there who are either willfully disobedient or simply ignorant of what sin really is. Blessings! |

85 | Justification for non-Christian Living?? | Gal 5:24 | prazn | 87397
Good question! All believers have two natures: the self-nature (flesh) and the divine nature (spirit). The less mature you are in the Lord, the more difficult it is to crucify the "flesh". This is where belief in the cross of Christ comes in. We cannot, in our own strength, overcome the "flesh". All that we can do, and MUST do, is to submit ungodly desires to the Lord. We do this by confessing our desires to the Lord and relying upon His power to overcome whatever we are struggling with. For example, suppose that you are a very impatient person. But, you desperately want the spiritual fruit of patience to be manifested within you. Simply go to the Lord in prayer and tell him all about your struggle (be specific; "I'm impatient with so-and-so" or "I'm impatient waiting for the pastor to finish his sermon". Tell him that you don't want to be impatient and confess that you need His help to be patient. Then allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you. Look up and meditate on scripture that speaks to patience (you're now feeding the spirit). At first, it may seem that you are fighting the battle alone. But, our Lord is faithful and He will not tarry to cleanse you of your unrighteousness, nor to relieve you of your burden. Hope this helps. This act of confession and repentance to the Lord (i.e., cleansing) is continual. Everytime that "impatience" rears its ugly little head, go through the process again. As long as we live in these earthen vessels, we will have struggles with the "flesh". However, as we learn to rely upon the Lord, we will find ourselves walking more according to the spirit, rather than the flesh. |

87 | Speaking and calling? | Jer 35:17 | prazn | 87252
Hi Mommabps, The meaning of the word "spoken" in the Hebrew (according to the Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew Lexicon) is "to declare, to command, to warn or to threaten". The meaning of the word "called" in the Hebrew (according to Strong's) is "to bid, to invite, or to summon". Both definitions are specific to the context in which they were used in the scripture you cited. I haven't read the scripture in context, but perhaps what was happening could be likened to calling a toddler to come into the house, for lunch, several times. As you know, since you're also a mom, the toddler will not listen the first or second time that we call. However, in our third attempt to coax them inside, our tone of voice, and perhaps our words, may change: no longer are we inviting them; we're now telling them! "Get inside this minute, or else..." Hope this helps! |

88 | spiritual revelation to un- regenerate? | John 10:28 | prazn | 87237
Please don't under-estimate the power of the Living God, my friend. Guaranteed, once we are His, we are always His no matter how far we stray. For He declares in His Word that if He has begun a "good work" in us, He "will be faithful to complete it, until the day of Chist Jesus." -Phil 1:6 It is unfortunate, but many who do stray are brought back through tragedy or some other life altering circumstance, but our Lord does "chasten those He loves": Heb 12:5 and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, "MY SON, DO NOT REGARD LIGHTLY THE DISCIPLINE OF THE LORD, NOR FAINT WHEN YOU ARE REPROVED BY HIM; Heb 12:6 FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES, AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES." Heb 12:7 It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? Heb 12:8 But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Heb 12:9 Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? Heb 12:10 For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. Heb 12:11 All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness. To answer your question, the unregenerated spirit cannot receive "revelation" from the Holy Spirit. The Lord tells us in 1 Cor 2:14, "...a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised." Blessings! |

89 | Active Homosexuals: Truly Christian? | Rom 1:21 | prazn | 87233
When the Lord returns for His Bride (i.e., the Church), then believers will be perfected in Him. 1 Cor 15:51 Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 1 Cor 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 1 Cor 15:53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. 1 Cor 15:54 But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, "DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory. 1 Cor 15:55 "O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?" 1 Cor 15:56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; 1 Cor 15:57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. |

90 | Active Homosexuals: Truly Christian? | Rom 1:21 | prazn | 87231
No. I've never said, or knowingly implied, that any human can achieve sinless perfection, as Christ (the God-Man) did. I believe that a person can commit a sinful act, out of ignorance. For example, God says in Mal 3:8, "Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, 'How have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings." I know of many Christians who do not tithe. Not because they haven't read the scriptures which encourage us to tithe, but because the Spirit of the Living God has not yet dealt with them about that act of faith, for whatever reason. Tithes and offerings are necessary for the Kingdom of God to be advanced upon this earth. But, more importantly than that, tithing is a gesture of faith in our Lord, which will be rewarded with a demonstration of His power to "pour out...blessing[s] [that] we won't have room enough to receive". And, yes, I know that this is Old Testament, but our God doesn't change. Believers are not exempted from His laws and commandments, as stated in the Old Testament. Hope this answers your question. |

91 | Why did Jesus condemn the Pharisees | Matt 23:13 | prazn | 87129
Why did Jesus condemn the scribes and Pharisees? Afterall, they were the religious experts of their day. They were learned men, who studied and knew the Law of Moses. What kept them from entering the Kingdom of God?
92 | Faithful response to gays / lesbians? | Rom 1:21 | prazn | 87126
How does the church minister to ANY sinner? By encouraging them to develop a personal and intimate relationship with our Lord and Saviour. By sharing the love of Jesus with them. By discipling them. By praying with them and for them during times of trial/temptation. By holding them accountable for their actions, if they are contrary to the Word of God. By encouraging them in their walk with the Lord.
93 | Active Homosexuals: Truly Christian? | Rom 1:21 | prazn | 87094
Hi Hank, Can a liar be a follower of Christ (consider the apostle Peter)? Can a thief be a follower of Christ (consider the thief on the cross)? What about a murderer (consider the apostle Paul)? Sin is man's choice to be lord or ruler over his/her life (god), rather than allowing the Creator of the universe (God) to be his/her Lord. Consider the "original" sin. Adam and Eve did not lie, steal or murder anyone. What they did was to choose to be their own gods and, consequently, to reject the One true God. Sinful acts are symptoms of the disease (i.e., sin). Our Lord died on the cross so that ANYONE who believes, confesses and repents, will not perish, but have everlasting life. Once we have believed, may we continue to willfully sin? Absolutely not! (see Hebrews 10:26-39) Do we continue to sin, even after we have believed? Many believers do, because we have not yet been made perfect. The Lord is constantly perfecting us through the various trials that we must endure, and overcome, in this life. Thankfully, the Lord promises us that when we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness. It's good to know, as Paul wrote in Phil 1:6, "...I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." Blessings! |

94 | Command Saul broke in 1Samuel 13;13-14? | 1 Sam 13:9 | prazn | 87091
Saul disobeyed the Lord by offering a burnt sacrifice that only the priests were consecrated to offer to the Lord, according to levitical law: Lev 1:1 Then the LORD called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying, Lev 1:2 "Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, 'When any man of you brings an offering to the LORD, you shall bring your offering of animals from the herd or the flock. Lev 1:3 'If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer it, a male without defect; he shall offer it at the doorway of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted before the LORD. Lev 1:4 'He shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, that it may be accepted for him to make atonement on his behalf. Lev 1:5 'He shall slay the young bull before the LORD; and Aaron's sons the priests shall offer up the blood and sprinkle the blood around on the altar that is at the doorway of the tent of meeting. Lev 1:6 'He shall then skin the burnt offering and cut it into its pieces. Lev 1:7 'The sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire. Lev 1:8 'Then Aaron's sons the priests shall arrange the pieces, the head and the suet over the wood which is on the fire that is on the altar. Lev 1:9 'Its entrails, however, and its legs he shall wash with water. And the priest shall offer up in smoke all of it on the altar for a burnt offering, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the LORD. |

95 | Disease or Bad Personal Choice?? | Bible general Archive 1 | prazn | 86996
I haven't said that same sex marriage is OK. Sin, however manifested in the life of a believer, is NOT OK! What I support is any individual who seeks relationship with our Lord. The Lord is the only One who can judge the human heart and the Lord is the only One who can change the condition of the human heart as it is yielded to His perfect will.
96 | Christians living in unbroken carnality? | Rom 8:7 | prazn | 86995
Hi Radioman2, Scripture clearly states that the carnal mind is hostile to God. The following scriptures discuss the ramifications of living according to the dictates of the flesh, as opposed to the spirit: Heb 10:26 For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, Heb 10:27 but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. Heb 10:28 Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Heb 10:29 How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? Heb 10:30 For we know Him who said, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY." And again, "THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE." Heb 10:31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Heb 10:32 But remember the former days, when, after being enlightened, you endured a great conflict of sufferings, Heb 10:33 partly by being made a public spectacle through reproaches and tribulations, and partly by becoming sharers with those who were so treated. Heb 10:34 For you showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted joyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and a lasting one. Heb 10:35 Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. Heb 10:36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. Heb 10:37 FOR YET IN A VERY LITTLE WHILE, HE WHO IS COMING WILL COME, AND WILL NOT DELAY. Heb 10:38 BUT MY RIGHTEOUS ONE SHALL LIVE BY FAITH; AND IF HE SHRINKS BACK, MY SOUL HAS NO PLEASURE IN HIM. Heb 10:39 But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul. |

98 | Disease or Bad Personal Choice?? | Bible general Archive 1 | prazn | 86920
Sorry Angelightboy, I hadn't read the previous posts and didn't know what I was getting into the middle of. Essentially, sin is our wanting to live our lives independent of our Creator. The symptoms of sin are homosexuality, murder, lying, cheating, stealing, etc. God is love. Jesus is the truth. God's Word tells us that when we confess our sins, the Lord is faithful to cleanse us of our sins and to deliver us from all unrighteousness. Jesus (the Truth) tells us to take His yoke upon us...for His yoke is easy and His burden is light. So, when we confess our sins, the Lord will cleanse us. When we accept the work of Christ on the cross (He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement for our peace was upon Him), He lifts our burdens from us and delivers us from our sinful ways. These are but a few of His promises to those of us who believe Him. |

1 John 4:8 tells us that "...God is love." John 14:6 tells us that God (Jesus) is the Truth. Since God is love, "God" (Love) rejoices in Truth. And, since God is Truth; God rejoices in His Truth (Jesus). Hope this helps. |

100 | Difference in believing? | James 2:19 | prazn | 86906
Greetings! The following scripture comes to mind, in response to your question. In it, James (under the influence of the Holy Spirit) tells us that demons believe in God. However, we know that demons do not serve our Lord. By comparison, those of us who believe God (like Abraham) demonstrate our belief by what we do in response to His Word. James 2:17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. James 2:18 But someone may well say, "You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works." James 2:19 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. James 2:20 But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? James 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? James 2:22 You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected; James 2:23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "AND ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS," and he was called the friend of God. James 2:24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. This scripture is not talking about a "works" motivated mindset, in the sense of how many hours each day I am compelled to spend in prayer or in helping at a homeless shelter, for example. Notice that Abraham did not "do" anything, except believe that the Lord was able to revive his son, had Abraham struck the fatal blow. Consequently, in response to his belief, he obeyed the Lord's command to him. If we believe God, we will obey Him. |
