Shalom Insearchof, For the most part, most "why" questions require pure speculation...this one also. My 2cents worth is this: everything else God separated was opposites - light/dark, land/water etc. - but when He separated the waters He divided something that needed no division except to make room for man. So, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good (to Him) either (notice Rev. 21:1b). :o) Cheri |

82 | its a ckass excercise due sunday | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 213587
Shalom Inwright, It wasn't a controversy in "the church," it was in the Jewish community. The Jews couldn't understand how Gentiles fit into God's plan of salvation apart from physical conversion and mikvah (i.e., circumcision and water immersion). Paul's teachings appeared contradictory to the Law (it wasn't but it was somewhat contradictory to the Rabbinic interpretation of the Law) so - confusion and controversy. Read the book of Acts, and do some digging - clean, comfortable archeaology, finding nuggets and true treasure. Life is good. Have fun. Cheri |

83 | Study Bible | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 213617
Shalom Fcs, I personally use a very simple bible with just center-column references. When I hit on something hard to understand, then there are the commentaries (Christian and Jewish) to be looked into. And, of course, right here on SBF, can be found great insights! There are many benefits for not having a "study" bible - one being it is much smaller and easier to carry around, the print can then be much larger while still keeping the book quite manageable. Just as when I was in college, it was cheaper to buy used textbooks but it was also too easy to get lost in the previous owner's notes rather than my own. Soooo, even though it cost me more in money, a plain new book gained me more in productive study and learning.... :o) Cheri |

84 | does it say Jesus is a personal God | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 213817
Shalom Lovemylord, Well, let's see....from Gen. 1:1 to Rev. 22:21??? The very best passage that comes to mind is Rev. 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him and he with Me." Can't get much more personal than that!! Cheri |

85 | This generation will not pass away.... | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 214178
Shalom Eascusa, Just my 2cents worth: I've always understood that verse to mean that the generation living when "these things" begin will not die out before the great tribulation is ushered in...:o) (This would be allowing 80-100years for a generation.) Cheri |

Shalom Chumba, Our brother Beja gave you a wonderful answer and I cannot improve upon it. I can only direct you to read further on in Rom 14 to verses 22 and 23. I have always held that if one has to ask if something is wrong, then it is probably wrong for that particular person. It could be that the Spirit is trying to speak to you personally or there could be someone within your "fold" who is being harmed. Either way, the "thing" should be done away with, or you wouldn't be asking about it. :o) Cheri |

Dear freedom, You posted before on the 1st of the month, pretty much the same thing. We are very sorry to hear of your troubles. Please help us to relate, where are you from? where did this take place, under what circumstances? And then what is the actual question in all that? Someone would be more than happy to try to answer, to help you understand. Blessings Cheri |

90 | What Am I doing wrong? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 187629
Amen, Mouse, Just keep on doing what you're doing. There is nothing wrong in it, if fact, there's everything right in it. The commentaries (for me anyway) are just to help clear up some questions that may arise. They are definitely not infallible; but they can be helpful. It sounds to me like you have very lovely days with God's Word ringing in your heart. Just keep on keeping on and you'll be just fine! blassings cheri |

95 | Why do people like to accuse me? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 188936
Hi Vincent, This is not so much bilbical as the others who have answered you, but people-based. Sadly, many Christians also fall into this category. People love to point out the faults of others, it makes them feel superior (they don't realize that they could not see the fault in you if it was not in them as well). Just know that what ever you are (or are not) is covered by the precious blood of our Lord Jesus. You were judged by the blood of Jesus the day you made Him your Lord and Savior - and the Good News is that you were found "not guilty!" The Father sees you in Jesus as whole and complete, a new creation. Keep on praying, keep on believing. blessings in Jesus cheri |

96 | Whose Heavenly Father is GOD? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 189916
Hi Little Butch, There are many more knowledgeable than myself on this forum but let me get you started here: Exod. 4:22-23 is the first place I can think of where God speaks of Himself as Father. Exo 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh: Thus saith the LORD: Israel is My son, My first-born. Exo 4:23 And I have said unto thee: Let My son go, that he may serve Me; and thou hast refused to let him go. Behold, I will slay thy son, thy first-born.' - So, it looks like it began with the Hebrews (being the Chosen people), but is all inclusive. God is the Creator of all, therefore, He is the Heavenly Father of all, even those who don't know Him. Stand in His Grace Cheri |

97 | Whose heavenly Father is God (Restated) | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 189992
Hi Little Butch, As far as I can see, God the Father, had His purpose in the Israelites. He was not known in a personal way by the other peoples of the day, they worshipped idols and whatever else struck their fancy. Jehovah was doing a work in His people that would culminate in Messiah. Where it impacted His people and His promises to them He would reveal Himself to some outside of His nation, but we are not given that much information. How they perceived Him, how they spoke to Him, we don't know (or I haven't found it yet). I find that the Old Testament is God's story of His people's journey to that upper room on the day of Pentecost (and for anyone who is not of the Jewish heritage - it has become our story too). I'm very new to all this. But it appears to me that that is one of the things Jesus did. He showed to all who would see that God is not far away, He is ever as near as a Father's heart can be. Deu 18:18; Jn. 8:28; Job 9:32-33; 1Tim. 2:5; Col. 1:20-21; Isa. 59:16; Mat. 10:32; Rom. 5:10; 2Cor. 5:18-21 There are actual scriptures that state that God is no longer afar off, but I cannot find them. I know someone else on this forum will be able to provide them for you. But I pray this will get you started on your search. There will be others here who will supply more information for you. cheri |

98 | use of numbers in the bible | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 190957
Hi MTO I'm not sure of the value of numbers as used in the Christian Bible myself, but the Hebrew language puts emphasis on different letters and numbers. There is one site that is not terribly confusing and quite interesting and it might answer your questions: www.hebrew4christians.com Read it with a grain of salt and enjoy the journey :-). cheri |

Hi Justme, Whem I bring someone into the fold I see to it that they have a Bible (if not, I give them one), and that they know my phone number. The rest is up to the Father. But I have found a nice website that might be helpful. Would like any feedback on this site (if anyone knows that it's bad or not). http://www.allaboutthejourney.org/is-the-bible-true-aatj-1b3e.htm Cheri |

100 | Did He complete the Old Testament? | Bible general Archive 3 | skccab | 192322
Hi Searcher, I'm sure that you know that of the 5 major sacrifices only 2 had to do with sins. And God did provide Himself a Lamb for Passover and Yom Kippur sacrifices (though I believe we should still observe the days). My main problem (and I would imagine many other people's) is the use of the terms "forever," "continual," "perpetual" in these verses (and there are other verses, these I just happened to have read over the weekend). Lev 23:14 And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. ev 23:41 And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month. Lev 24:3 Without the veil of the testimony, in the tabernacle of the congregation, shall Aaron order it from the evening unto the morning before the LORD continually: it shall be a statute forever in your generations. Lev 24:9 And it shall be Aaron's and his sons'; and they shall eat it in the holy place: for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the LORD made by fire by a perpetual statute. Cheri |
