301 | Meaning of 4 beasts in Revelation chapte | Revelation | skccab | 186943
Hi Little Maggie I have checked several commentaries and they all pretty much agree (more or less), so I chose the use an excerpt for John Wesley's Explanatory Notes because, as long as his is it's the shortest one I have. Wesley's Explanatory Notes on Rev. 4:6-7: And in the midst of the throne - With respect to its height. Round about the throne - That is, toward the four quarters, east, west, north, and south. Were four living creatures - Not beasts, no more than birds. These seem to be taken from the cherubim in the visions of Isaiah and Ezekiel, and in the holy of holies. They are doubtless some of the principal powers of heaven; but of what order, it is not easy to determine. It is very probable that the twenty - four elders may represent the Jewish church: their harps seem to intimate their having belonged to the ancient tabernacle service, where they were wont to be used. If so, the living creatures may represent the Christian church. Their number, also, is symbolical of universality, and agrees with the dispensation of the gospel, which extended to all nations under heaven. And the "new song" which they all sing, saying, "Thou hast redeemed us out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation," Rev_5:9, could not possibly suit the Jewish without the Christian church. The first living creature was like a lion - To signify undaunted courage. The second, like a calf - Or ox, Eze_1:10, to signify unwearied patience. The third, with the face of a man - To signify prudence and compassion. The fourth, like an eagle - To signify activity and vigour. Full of eyes - To betoken wisdom and knowledge. Before - To see the face of him that sitteth on the throne. And behind - To see what is done among the creatures. Hope this helps blessings cheri |

Dear RC, You do "your work for me?" I don't think so. And I "believe so much in" Jesus and His work on the cross. Revelation and it's contents will take care of themselves in time. I'm not going to argue any points therein. Stand in His Grace Cheri |

304 | can anyone here help a seeker | Revelation | skccab | 192062
Hi Lucciola, As an older believer, please let me give you some advice - Learn about your Lord. Read the Old Testament accounts about how He delivered His people and all the wonders He did for them. Read the Gospels and learn of Him as people knew Him. Read the book of the Acts and the Letters and learn how He delivers His people today. Let the book of the Revelation rest for now. There will be time enough for it later, when you know the One Who delivered it to John. It's very difficult to delve into something hidden when you don't yet know that which is revealed. 305 | Bride and Guests at Lamb's Wedding | Revelation | skccab | 199568
Shalom JoeAnn, That's a very good question. One that I've asked many people and have yet to get an answer I can hang my hat on. :-) I still hold to the verses in Rev. 21:9-11, that tells us in no uncertain words just what the bride is: 21:9 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with teh seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, "Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife." 21:10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showdd me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descencing out of heaven from God, 21:11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. Then the verses go on to describe the city. I, too, have trouble thinking of myself as the bride of the Lamb when we are also told that we are the Body of Messiah, we are brethren to the Messiah, we are the adopted children of the King, Father of Messiah - being the bride also just doesn't fit in well. I can see relating as a bride to a bridegroom but not being the bride. But, because this really has nothing to do with our salvation, only where we're going to spend eternity in our salvation, I don't worry over it so much anymore. But it's a very good question. I'll be interested in what others have to say. still learning :-) Cheri |

Shalom y'all I apologize for the mis-spellings. When I spell checked, the system would not let me go back in to correct. When I hit the "back button" it took me 3 times to a fresh answer box, not to my answer box. Go figure. Cheri |

307 | crowns | Revelation | skccab | 207686
Shalom Domartin, Rev. 2:10 Messiah says He will give the crown of life to overcomers. There are other passages that speak of or allude to crowns being given out, perhaps someone else will know those scriptures? There are ONLY believers in Heaven (Rev. 21:14-15). Cheri |

308 | Hebrws 9:27 what Happens with Enoch and | Revelation | skccab | 207697
Shalom SOG, I will be interested in others' answer to this too. I personally believe that the 2 witnesses of Rev. 11:1-14 are Enoch and Elijah, just for that reason - they do eventually get killed and that would take care of the Heb. 9:27 passage. I know that most people believe the two witnesses are Elijah and Moses because of the Transfiguration, but could be that's not a correct assumption. Cheri |

309 | rev 20:4 questions | Revelation | skccab | 210071
Shalom alanj, Welcome to the forum. Please fill in your user profile so we can all get to know you. Many people (myself included) simply take the Bible as it says. To me it appears to be saying that these folks were martyred during the 7-year tribulation. Then they are raised to enter into the 1000-year millenial reign of our Lord. Others will probably answer your question with more concise information than I can. Have fun studying your Father's word. Cheri |

310 | what is it to be an overcomer? | Revelation | skccab | 210495
Shalom docandlinda2, I'm going to give you my understanding of the word "overcomer," which is very simple. Faithful. To those who remain faithful to His calling, His statutes and commandments. Overcomers are those who weighed the cost of serving Him, who picked up their cross and obediently followed until they died (or who will be caught up with Him at a future date). Cheri |
