761 | Define the true church. | Heb 12:23 | prayon | 7533
The true church is the church that is living inside of us. It is the relationship that we have as individuals. It is the Living God that lives inside of us. prayon
762 | Define the visible church. | 1 Tim 3:15 | prayon | 7532
Hi Jvh, The visible church is the church that we can see. It is the church of the living God, a building. It is the church we go to to worship. It is also the "church" that one sees when they look at us. What we show as a Christian. prayon
763 | Who is Lucifer/ why was heson of morning | Isaiah | prayon | 7410
Lucifer is the English translation of the Hebrew word meaning "light bringer" or "shining one", sometimes designating the morning or day star. In Isa 14:12 the Babylonian ruler is compared to a "Day Star" (the NIV bible says morning star), which has fallen from heaven and has been felled like a stately tree. In the Christian Church this passage came to be connected with Jesus saying in Luke 10:18 "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven". It was here that the connection was made between Lucifer and Satan. Satan was in the Garden of Eden therefore he had to of already been on the earth when Cain and Abel were born. Satan cannot make us do anything that God does not allow him to do. He can only tempt us. Therefore he did not make Cain kill Abel but he was a definite influence on Cain. The King of Babylon was not Lucifer but he. too, was influenced by him. prayon |

764 | Who knows? | Rev 21:27 | prayon | 7377
Hi Charis! You are so correct! We must disapline ourselves in everything we say and do "because like a roaring lion our advisary, the devil, prowls around looking for someone to devour" (1Pet 5:8). Let us consider also the lion. When coming upon prey the lion does not make a big commotion. He never announces to his prey that he is there. He stalks his prey silently. His prey never even knows he is there until he makes his swift attack. His victim rarely stands a chance. The out come can be different though. If we who are in the lions territory (in our case the world) would always be on the lookout, knowing that we, as Christians, are always the lions main target and that he is watching us constantly for his opportunity to devour us we would not see the dissensions that we see. He who has an ear, let him hear. |

765 | Babies and young children a distraction? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 7233
Nolan I definetly think it is a distraction. The words from the pulpit are generally above their knowledge base of children and they are unable to follow along. Children get bored and restless. Their talking or moving around can and does cause for distractions and Satan can time these distractions. Anyone whom God has led to hear the message can be distracted by the children and can miss the word that God has for them that could of healed them or delivered them. As for how my church handles the problem: We have a sound proof room at the back of the santuary that has large windows that give full view of the pulpit and the sound is piped in. This room is for the babies and toddlers. You can either sit there with your child or 1 adult and 1 teen man the nursery during service and will take care of your children for you if you desire. As for the 4 or 5 to 10 year olds, they have church downstairs. They leave the sanctuary after the praise and worship, the offering, the greeting and the like. They are taught at their level of understanding. It is made interesting to them and they are able to participate. At 10 years of age the pastor believes that they are able to understand what is being spoken of and are able to sit still. Hope this helps. |

766 | Is Hollywood biblically accurate? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 7231
Yes I believe it is Nolan. God can do anything. He can arrange for anyone to write a biblically accurate movie if He so chooses. Many have tried. One problem is the general public is not ready to accept it. The movie is unable to generate the revenue to pay for the making of the movie so they don't make them. Many of the secular world considers the bible boring and would not even attend or buy such a movie. I believe the movies that they do make such as the ones you listed they do try to make accurate but then you have to remember that they still have to sell the movie to the public. Hence they need to add some excitement and this is where the movie looses its accuracy. Check your local Christian book store where they do rent movies. There are some there that you can watch and using the bible you will have the script right in your hand. prayon |

767 | Is 'match making' Biblical? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 7158
Nolan, I think that God can and will use many different opportunities to further His will. Match making could surely be one. prayon |

768 | Did Jesus change His mind? | John 7:8 | prayon | 7156
I believe that He did not go up to the feast with the disciples because He did not want to be the center of attention since His time had not come yet. According to the Life Application Bible commentary it states that Jesus had the greatest gift but he acted secretly because He knew that the religious leaders hated Him and the more He taught publicly the more trouble the religious leaders would make for Him. It was necessary for Him to teach as quietly as possible so that the trouble would not be stirred up prematurely. Another point to ponder is maybe Jesus acted secretly because the religious leaders had a lot of power over the Jews. If the people were warned off by the leaders before they heard Jesus message then they might not of gone to hear Him at all because of that fear. I think he did just want to go up alone and told His disciples it was not His time yet bcause it was not His time to go public full force. prayon |

769 | Did Adam die lost? | Genesis | prayon | 7155
I believe that Adam went to heaven. In Genesis in the story of Abel and Cain it tells us that Abel obeyed God's teaching by tithing and that he was a good servant. The Lord had regard for him (Gen 4:4b). He also had a great faith as he is the first member of the hall of faith in Hebrews 11. In order for Abel to feel this way and to honor God as he did he had to of been taught about God by Adam. If Adam had taught him this he must of known of God's love and forgiveness. I am sure that Adam, knowing he had done wrong, asked for God's forgiveness and was forgiven because He is a loving and forgiving God. prayon
770 | Who is the 'young man' in Mark 14:51? | Mark 14:51 | prayon | 7153
Hi Nolan! It is indeed believed that it is Mark himself. If it was anyone but Mark why did he not give his name? If it was Mark and I were him I wouldn't givce my name either. :o) prayon
771 | how and what must we do to be disciples | Matt 28:19 | prayon | 7031
You can follow someone and still learn, therefore we can be a follower and a student. To make disciples of nations we must go out and witness to others and teach others about Christ so that they will become students of Christ. In turn then they will prayerfully make more disciples.
772 | What does Acts 11:26 reall mean? | Acts 11:26 | prayon | 6964

773 | what does it mean to be a disciple? | Matt 28:19 | prayon | 6962
Disciple comes from the greek word mathetes, which means one who learns. A disciple is one who is an apprentice or student attached to a teacher or movement; one whose allegiance is to the instruction and commitments of that teacher or movement. Most New Testament references to "disciple designate "followers of Jesus". To be a disciple means to be a follower and student of Jesus and His word.
774 | Please explain who the 144,000 are. | Revelation | prayon | 6916
There were 12,000 Jews who were sealed from each of the twelve tribes of the people of Isreal. They are Jews that are chosen or set aside by God either before the rapture or during the tribulation. It is interesting to note that 144,000 is 12 x 12 x 1000, symbolizing completeness. prayon
775 | How will Christ return? | Acts 1:9 | prayon | 6810
I don't think that Christ's exit from this world was that unexpected. He had been teaching all along that after He rose He would be seated at the Father's right hand. He also told us that He was going to heaven to prepare a place for us. I do think that His return will be unexpected since He has told us that He will return like a thief in the night and that no one knows the day or the hour. I am expecting something quite awesome in His return. First the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the heavens. We don't know what that sign will be. It could be as loud as the crash of thunder or as quiet as a sleeping baby. I can't find the exact scripture but the bible says that He will "split the eastern sky". It also tells us that the trumpets will sound and that He will arrive on the clouds. I expect that the light from His shikinah glory will be blinding! It should be a quite a dramatic and spectacular appearance! prayon
776 | Why did Jesus not answer charges? | Matt 26:62 | prayon | 6806
Jesus refused to answer because He knew that it would do no good to do so. It would of been as they say adding fuel to the fire. Staying silent was also His legal right. He used His whole life was an answer to their questions. He stood silent while being dignified. Matt 27: 14 says that in doing this He greatly amazed the govenor. By the way - In Matt 26:64 Jesus did answer Caiaphas, it is Herod that He did not answer (Luke 23:9).
777 | What spiritual gifts could Paul give? | Rom 1:11 | prayon | 6804
Although I could not find any direct answer to your question I believe that Paul was able to share his gift of ministering. He could also encourage them with his gift of faith as well as being encouraged by theirs. He could also help them understand the gift of the Holy Spirit that was given to them. prayon
778 | Why worship carved images? | Rom 1:23 | prayon | 6803
Idolatry begins when people start rejecting what they know about God. When this happens then they start looking to self as the center of the universe instead of God. They then start making images or gods that are a convienient projection of their own selfishness. Idolaters worship the things made instead of the maker. This could happen because they didn't agree with God's plan or because they think they know better than God. One thing is for sure - it will happen when people allow Satan to put his blinders on them instead of relying totally on God. |

779 | What does the resurrection prove? | Rom 1:4 | prayon | 6802
The death and resurrection of Jesus proved that it was no new idea that someone came up with but that the old testament promises were to come true. God's raising Jesus from the dead also authenticated the gospel.
