Bible Question: Is it more of a distraction or a blessing to have little children and babies in the sanctuary during church? How does your church handle little babies and young children during church? |
Bible Answer: Nolan I definetly think it is a distraction. The words from the pulpit are generally above their knowledge base of children and they are unable to follow along. Children get bored and restless. Their talking or moving around can and does cause for distractions and Satan can time these distractions. Anyone whom God has led to hear the message can be distracted by the children and can miss the word that God has for them that could of healed them or delivered them. As for how my church handles the problem: We have a sound proof room at the back of the santuary that has large windows that give full view of the pulpit and the sound is piped in. This room is for the babies and toddlers. You can either sit there with your child or 1 adult and 1 teen man the nursery during service and will take care of your children for you if you desire. As for the 4 or 5 to 10 year olds, they have church downstairs. They leave the sanctuary after the praise and worship, the offering, the greeting and the like. They are taught at their level of understanding. It is made interesting to them and they are able to participate. At 10 years of age the pastor believes that they are able to understand what is being spoken of and are able to sit still. Hope this helps. |
