61 | Should the Bible be taken literally? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 4128
"I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds tho them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book; if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away that person's share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book", (Rev 22:18-19). This warning was given to those who might purposely distort the message of this book. NO human explanation OR interpretation should be elevated to the same authority as the text itself. In Deut 2:4 Moses tells us that we must keep the commandments of God. See also Prov 30:5-6. If we believe that the bible is outdated or that commandments are no longer valid we are taking away from the word of God. I have yet to find or hear of a scripture(s) that cannot be applied to our situations today or that we can not learn from to help us become better Christians today. Scripture is God's word, not mans. "ALL scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness, so that EVERYONE who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work", (2Tim 3:16, emphasis mine). |

63 | Who is going into the millennium? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 4432
I agree in part with GMSmith. This is the way I understand it. 2Corin 15:53 says that when we are raised in the rapture the perishable body will be made imperishable and this mortal body must put on immorality. Rev 20:5 says that the dead raised up from the tribulation will be judged. When Christ comes in the rapture (1st resurection) believers will be raised up and made immortal. Any 00 one who becomes a believer AFTER the rapture will go to heaven but will NOT become immortal. They will remain in their mortal bodies. Since the tribulation believers still have their physical bodies they will still have their sinful natures, so they and their children can choose to rebel against God. Rev 19:9 says "Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast". Remember all those who were raised in the rapture, both old and new testament saints are the bride of Christ so we can't be the guests; it must be the tribulation believers. The wedding guests will join the bride and groom in fellowship with one another for the next 1000 years. Hope this helps Ed. prayon |

64 | Do you mean some people will live twice? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 4752
I must of sounded very confusing. I did not mean to imply that anyone was going to live twice - as you stated there is no such thing as reincarnation. The ones who will live on earth are the tribulation saints that did not die, and I doubt that there will be many. Those martyred will come back to earth with Jesus to reign the 1000 years. Does this make any more sense? |

65 | Are there saints that willl come through | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 4759
I believe that some will make it through the tribulation because God is merciful and His grace abounds. Throughout the bible God has given people every last chance to be saved because of His great love for us. I can not believe that it will be any different in the tribulation times. I don't see Him deserting anyone and leaving them without someone to provide guidance to Him. Some saints will have to remain on earth to do His work. As for starving from the inability to buy food, I remind you of 1Kings 17:6 where God ordered the ravens to suply Elijah with food. Mark or not, God can provide for all our needs. I admit this could be an assumption on my part.

Lev 27:30-33 states that all the tithe of the land, whether the seed of the land or the fruit of the trees, belongs to God and that one tenth of all that passes under the sheppherds staff is also included. Hope this answers your question. prayon |

69 | What's a covanant, according toSCRIPTURE | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 5064
A covenant is a formal agreement between two parties with each assuming some obligation. It can be between people, countries, or between God and His people. In biblical times two people would make a covenant by cutting an animal in half placing each half on different sides of a ditch. The two parties would then walk arm and arm through the "river of blood". Marriage is a covenant between two people signified by the vows and the ring being the symbol of that covenant. You can read about other covenants by reading about Laban and Jacob (Gen 31:44-54) or David and Jonathan (1Sam 18:3, 23:18). Covenants were given the highest respect. They were not broken. When Jesus died on the cross it was the end of the old covenant which God made with Abraham. We are now under the new covenant. It is a covenant where God has promised to take care of us and give us eternal life and in exchange we devote our lives to Him and do His work. When we are saved we automatically enter into that covenant. |

70 | Please I need some ideas | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 5615
Ed, In the Everyday Bible Commentary by Charles Caldwell Ryrie it states that John saw 4 groups of saints in Revelation 20:4. First he saw those who sat on the throne and who shared in the judging, apparently the church. Then he saw a particular group of martyrs - those who were beheaded. Finally he saw a group that had refused to worship the beast and receive his mark. Those (referring to the last group) are the ones who will live and reign with Christ. In answer to your comment of the 2nd question concerning surviving without the mark, I remind you that God can do anything. In 1Kings 17:4 He provided for Elijah by sending his food to him by using ravens. I truly believe that any people who do not receive the mark will be provided for. After all Matthew 6:26 states that God provides for the birds of the air. Aren't we of more value than them? Verse 33 states that if we strive first for the kingdom of God and His righteousness all these things will be given to us. Isn't that what the saints of the tribulation will be doing, striving for God's kingdom and His righteousness? I'll bet that they will be stiving a lot harder than we do today - and He provides for us all we need to survive. prayon |

71 | Should music be allowed in church? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 5642
I wish I knew where the father has gotten an idea like that! Biblical references to music are numerous because of the essential role it played in all aspects of the life of the people of the bible. Since he said he is a New Testament Christian I will start in the New Testament. Music was important in the worship of the early church. In the earliest Christian communities music was not set within regular and repeated patterns of worship but was allowed some spontaneity. Eph. 5:19 says that "as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs singing among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts". James 5:13 asks if any are cheerful, then they should sing songs of praise. 1Cor 14:26 says that when you come together and someone has a hymn let it be done for the building up. Col 3:16 says "let the word of Christ dwell in you richly....and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs to God. Both of these scriptures have to do with worshipping God and one of the places we are to do that is in church! Rev 4:10 talks about the 24 elders who fall on the floor and casting their crowns on the fllor before God sing! "Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven". Exodus 15 talks or singing to the Lord. In Psalms alone sing and singing is mentioned 70 times!! Psalm 47:6 tells us to "sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to out King, sing praises! Psalm 81:1-2 tell us to "Sing aloud to God our strength...Raise a song, sound the tamborine, the sweet lyre with the harp." There are many more scriptures too numerous to mention. If this isn't enough go to the Strongs Concordance and look under sing. prayon |

72 | Three way split? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 5823
I looked in 3 commentaries and got 2 different answers. The first is the one I like - That the cities division in to 3 parts is symbolic of its complete destruction. Three being the symbol/number of completeness. The second one I checked said that is could possibly be the world wide city instead of Jerusalem. The 3rd had no comment - I guess this is another one of those "Ahhhhh-soooo" questions.
73 | Biblical support for animals in heaven? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 6000
The only writer who addresses the question directly is Ecclesiastes in 3:19-21, who states," For the fate of humans and the fate of animals is the same; as one dies, so does the other. They all have the same breath, and humans have no advantage over the animals, for all is vanity. All go to one place; all are from the dust and all turn to dust again. Who knows whether the human spirit goes upward and the spirit of animals goes downward to the earth?" In 1860 Florence Nightinggale wrote that a small pet "is often an excellent companion for the sick." The psychological benefits of caring for an animal can also be enourmous. Pet's offer us a nonjudgemental, accepting and unconditional love that can be very healing. Animals can teach us about love. Animals can without words open to us new dimensions of life that are wonderfully transforming. Animals and children are much alike - they both have an innocence and a lack of pretense that seem to radiate goodness. I leave you with this thought - If it's true that "those who abide in love, abide in God," then animals can bring our spirits into closer communion with our maker bwecause they truly know how to love unconditionally. And if this is the case do we believe God would not of made some provision for them in heaven as a reward for doing His work so fulfillingly? prayon |

76 | Is Hollywood biblically accurate? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 7231
Yes I believe it is Nolan. God can do anything. He can arrange for anyone to write a biblically accurate movie if He so chooses. Many have tried. One problem is the general public is not ready to accept it. The movie is unable to generate the revenue to pay for the making of the movie so they don't make them. Many of the secular world considers the bible boring and would not even attend or buy such a movie. I believe the movies that they do make such as the ones you listed they do try to make accurate but then you have to remember that they still have to sell the movie to the public. Hence they need to add some excitement and this is where the movie looses its accuracy. Check your local Christian book store where they do rent movies. There are some there that you can watch and using the bible you will have the script right in your hand. prayon |

77 | Babies and young children a distraction? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 7233
Nolan I definetly think it is a distraction. The words from the pulpit are generally above their knowledge base of children and they are unable to follow along. Children get bored and restless. Their talking or moving around can and does cause for distractions and Satan can time these distractions. Anyone whom God has led to hear the message can be distracted by the children and can miss the word that God has for them that could of healed them or delivered them. As for how my church handles the problem: We have a sound proof room at the back of the santuary that has large windows that give full view of the pulpit and the sound is piped in. This room is for the babies and toddlers. You can either sit there with your child or 1 adult and 1 teen man the nursery during service and will take care of your children for you if you desire. As for the 4 or 5 to 10 year olds, they have church downstairs. They leave the sanctuary after the praise and worship, the offering, the greeting and the like. They are taught at their level of understanding. It is made interesting to them and they are able to participate. At 10 years of age the pastor believes that they are able to understand what is being spoken of and are able to sit still. Hope this helps. |

78 | Should a Christian be a Mason? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 8837
ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! the Mason's or a higher order of the Mason's - the Shriners are a very secretive organization that proclaim, do and say things that are not consistant with the bible. I will give two examples, although there are many. BOUND BY BLOOD OATHS From the initiation rituals of the "BLUE LODGES" and through all 33 degrees of Freemasonry, every Mason in the world is bound by bloody oaths to maintain the secrets of the Lodge. These binding oaths are kept through the spirit of fear, because the penalties for betraying the brethren of the lodge include serious physical harm to the Mason. Look at them from the perspective of Christ's admonition. The oath sworn by the Entered Apprentice or first degree: "binding myself under no less penalty than that of having my throat cut across, my tongue torn out by its roots, and my body buried in the rough sands of the sea, at low water mark." The Master Mason swears,"under no less penalty than that of having my body severed in two, my bowels taken from thence and burned to ashes, the ashes scatter before the four winds of heaven" (Duncan's Ritual of Freemasonry, 3rd Ed., pp. 35 396, David McKay Pub., New York, NY) THE KING OF THE PIT OF HELL In the seventeenth degree of the Scottish Rite, or The Knights of the East and West Degree, after the candidates have completed the initiation they are given the secret password, Jubulum, and the Sacred Word, Abaddon. Here is the clue to the true identity of the Masonic Deity. It is revealed in the "Sacred Word" of this ritual, "Abaddon." In Revelation 9:11, we learn that "they [the demons and workers from hell] had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon!" Again, I must ask, "How could any true Christian dare to take upon himself that evil name as a sacred word?" the above came from information on a site called www.ericbarger.com/home2.htm I encourage all interested in learning more to visit the site, go to the search engine and type in Masons. I have not even touched the surface. prayon |

79 | Was Abraham a Muslim? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 9004
Abraham was the son of Terah, a descendent of Shem. Shem is the ancestor of Isreal, and was rewarded for a special relationship with God. Abraham was known as the first great patriarch of Isreal - an Isrealite, not a Muslim. He is, however, revered by the Muslims and the Christians as the epitome of human faith. He has been called the pioneer of trust in God. Terah, Abraham's father, was portrayed by ancient rabbinic interpreters as a manufacturer and worshiper of idols, which goes with God's command to Abraham to leave his father's house. prayon |

80 | Mercy on Unbelievers | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 9217
God as far as I know will not have mercy on the unbeliever. The unbeliever has been given every chance to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior but have denied Christ. I refer you to 2 Corinthians 6:14 - "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship is there between light and darkness?" Verse 17-18 goes on to say "Therefore come out from them (unbelievers) and be separate from them, says the Lord and touch nothing unclean; and I will welcome you, and I will be your father, and you shall be my sons and daughters says the Lord Almighty". Paul urged believer not to form binding relationships with unbelievers because this might weaken their Christan commitment, integrity, or standards. Although we believe that we can stand strong in out commitment God knows us better than we know ourselves. He said what he did because He knows we are weak and can easily be deceived. |
