101 | FOUR LIVING CREATURES, AND FORM OF MEN | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 29861
Greetings Swiggy, This prophecy was given in dream form. It portrays the "the vision of God"(1:1) and 'the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord" (1:28). Therefore this is a vision of the glory of God. The vision as a whole was perceived a violent electrical storm from the north. With in the storm were two major objects: 1. 4 living creatures with attending wheels and 2. one like a man enthroned upon an expanse stretchilng over the heads of the four living creatures. Each of the 4 living creatures had the likeness and general appearance of a man with the face of an eagle, an ox, and a lion. Each of the appearances can be linked to the 4 gospels. The lion represents strength (Matthew, the lion of Judah), the ox represents diligent service (Mark who portrayed Christ as the servant), the human features which portrayed the intelligence (Luke - portrayed Christ as the perfect human), and the eagle a symbol of divinity (John who portrayed Christ as the son of God high and divine). Some see these creatures as the most majestic of God's creatures and say that the represent the whole creation. It is interesting to note that the vision of John in Rev 4:4 parallels Ezekiels vision) A turning wheel stood beside each creature each moving in a different direction. Thus able to move anywhere these wheels show that God is able to be present everywhere and able to see all things (1:18). The 4 living creatures and 4 wheels are powerful pictures of judgement. The rainbow over the throne symbolizes God's never ending faithfulness to His people. Just as God sent a rainbow too symbolize His promise never again to destroy the earth so this rainbow symbolizes His promise to preserve those who remain faithful to Him. The human revealed God's holiness and prepared Ezekiel for what God was about to tell him, just as Christ came in human form and prepared us for His message of salvation. With Ezekiel seeing God's glory he fell on his face just as Isreal should of done. We, too, must fall on our face before God either in judgement or out of reverance and awe. The importance of the message is is that God never forgets those who faithfully seek to obey Him. prayon |

102 | Why the Old and New Testament? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 31925
They are both connected and seperate. They are connected in the fact that they are the word of God. They are seperated in the fact that the OT is before Jesus and the NT is Jesus life on. We read both for a number of reasons. One is that to understand why things were said or done in the NT we must read the OT. For example, why did Jesus have to die on the cross in order for us to be set free? You can find the answer in Leviticus 17. Proof that Jesus life and death were also foretold in the OT (particularly in Isaiah chapter 53) telling us that He was the promised Messiah. The history of the nation of Isreal is also found throughout the OT which tells us a lot of how and why the Isrealites were the way they were. I have come to understand the NT much better after studying the OT. prayon |

104 | angels | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 33648
Greetings pgs, Angel means messenger. They are spiritual beings that serves God and supports mankind. They come fro God. According to Scripture, the angels were created before human beings; Job 38:7 tells of their presence at the creation of the universe. The bible also distinguishes between good and faithful angels and fallen angels or demons. Their main task is to serve God (Ps 103:21), to praise and glorify Him (148:2) and to join battle on His behalf (Gen e.g., Gen 19:1-29). There are accounts of angels throughout the bible. Most of the angels are not given names, two that are named however in the book of Daniel are Gabriel and Michael. prayon |

105 | Moses saw God's face and didn't die why | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 34525
Greetings Lew, Moses never saw God's face because indeed anyone who saw God's face would die. In Exo. 33:13 Moses asks God to see His ways. God grants this request. He tells Moses that He will pass before him but while He passes before Him he will place Moses in a cleft of a mountain rock, presumable Mt. Sinai, and covered him with His hand until He had passed by. He then removed His hand and allowed Moses to see His back (v.23). This seems to be a contradiction of Exo 24:10 where the elders are said to of "seen the God of Isreal". The contradiction is only on the surface. What the elders really saw was only "something like a pavement made of sapphire" under His feet. Isaiah only saw the skirt of His robe (Is 6:1) and Jacob, who wrestled with the angel of the Lord saw only a preincarnate appearance of Jesus Christ (Hos 12:4). If you can get me the verses of the incidents with Noah and Enoch I am sure I can clarify them for you. prayon |

106 | regarding diet and meat | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 39565
Greetings sassy, A list of foods that were unclean for the Isrealites is given in Deut. 14:1-21. There are several reasons for these forbidden foods. 1. The Isrealites were not allowed to eat blood. Since some of these animals were hunters and had eaten other animals they were forbidden to be eaten. 2. Some of the forbidden animals were used in pagan rituals and were therefore associated with those rituals. 3. Perhaps some of the restrictions were given just to continually remind Isreal that they were a seperate people committed to God. In Acts 10:9-16 Paul's dream tells us that such animals are no longer forbidden to us. prayon |

107 | WHAT DOES THE NUMBER 40 REPRESENTIN THE | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 40317
Greetings Debby, The numbers in the bible have a literal meaning but also a symbolic meaning. The number 40 is idiomatic for any period of time regarded as a complete event. It is the standard figure for a complete generation, for example the Isrealites wandered in the desert for 40 years until the unbelieving generation had died. Exod 2:11 and Acts 7:23 also tell us that 40 was when a person reached maturity. (Eerdmans and Harpers Bible Dictionary) Hope this helps. You can also type in "number 40" in the quick search box for more information. prayon

110 | Prov 3:5-6; Col 2:6; Rom 8:28 | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 41253
Greetings Dave, The first way we will learn to grow is by prayer. We ask Him to give us knowledge and wisdom of His word. When you ask you shall receive. Another is by reading and studying His word. Attend bible studies. Talk with someone who is knowledgable in whatever area you are trying to learn more about. We can also learn to grow by following the nudgings of the Holy Spirit which is within us. He will direct and lead is where God wants us to go if we listen. We can never reach the end of our search for knowledge, it is a constant learning process. May God bless you in your search for knowledge! prayon |

114 | God is in my heart but... | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 46905
Greetings supanlee, I know exactly how you feel. I have been there. I have had clinical depression for 11 years now. Many will tell you that it is in your mind, or that you must be doing something wrong, or not praying right, or have a sin in your life that is holding you back, or you don't really believe.... I have heard just about all of them. Ignore them! You sound to me like you do have some depression. I suggest the same as Hank - see professional advise in your town, not on the forum! In addition, I suggest that you go to www.gospelcom.net/cdp/ It is a Christian web site for people seeking information on depression. I highly recommend it. There can be chemical imbalances that result in depression. Next I would like to tell you what someone told me when I was at one of my low points. I felt exactly what you say you feel - nothing seemed to interest me. I, too, knew in my heart that God was with me, but it sure didn't feel like it in my head at times. When you are at your lowest is when Christ does the most work on you. What Christ was doing was taking away all the interests that "self" had and was preparing me for all the things that Christ wanted me to do. Don't struggle, let Him do His work in you. Trust me that once you get to the other side of "the wilderness" you will be able to look back and see what Christ has done in you. First and foremost though is to seek professional help in case these feelings are do to physical reasons. I hope this helps some. Feel free to e me any time you would like. You can find my address in my profile. God Bless You in your journey. prayon |

115 | Compare secular music to Christian music | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 47603
I agree with D.D.1961, It is not the music in itself but it is the words that count. Many songs, but not all, support and push one into things that are not of God but instead promote Satan and his agenda. Christian music on the other hand promotes God and all that He stands for. With my daughter what I do is listen to the words to the song that she is listening to and decide whether they are appropriate. I do believe that in listening to Christian music that one can grow in their walk with Christ. prayon
116 | Revelations Chapters 16 -17 seven seals | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 47981
Greetings Talley and welcome to the forum! Many of the questions you will have have been answered before and you will find the answer by doing a "quick search". To do this look in the upper right corner and you will find the "quick search" box. For the answers to your questions for example you would type in "names for God" for the first search and then "7 seals" for the second. If you still have questions then please ask them. Also when you ask a question please ask about only 1 topic per question. It makes it less confusing to properly answer the question you have. Have a blessed day! prayon |

117 | Is the Bible filled with TRUTH? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 47985
Greetings aggie, You were taught the truth. Every word of the King James Version of the bible is the truth. Do not question your salvation because of this man! The bible teaches us (sorry I can't remember the verse) that we are to weigh every word that we hear with the bible and see if they are in agreement. If it is not beware! There will come many false teachers in the end days. If your new pastor is teaching you things that do not line up with the word, or telling you that the bible has errors then it is time to find a new pastor who's teachings do teach that the bible is accurate. In answer to your question, All bibles are filled with the truth. I believe that the Kings James version is a beautiful version to read. However, to study God's word I like either the New King James version or the New Revised Standard version. I believe they are much easier to understand. However, no matter what version they are the word of God! You can find affordable bibles in many places. I suggest that you start by looking to the left of this box under information. God Bless, prayon |

119 | Mark 16:16 what does it say? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 51040
It is not the water of baptism that saves, but God's grace accepted through faith in Christ. Because of Jesus' response to the thief on the cross that died with him, we know it is possible to be saved without being baptized (Luke 23:43). Baptism alone without faith does not automatically bring a person to heaven. Those who refuse to believe will be condemned, regardless of whether or not they have been baptized. You put on Christ by taking off the old "self" and becoming a new person in Jesus Christ. Could you please put only one basic question per entry. Thanks, it will help us to answer you more fully. prayon |
