4901 | Order of events at the 2nd Coming? | 1 Thess 4:17 | EdB | 14862
Two different, both have the same spiritual princes Gog and Magog involved but are different battles. Ex38 will probably occur before the Tribulation and will set up the world for the Antichrist. |

4902 | Order of events at the 2nd Coming? | 1 Thess 4:17 | EdB | 14851
I thought the purpose was to Study the Bible and seek out answers it contains. If the subject we choose doesn't have Biblical answer we should move on. Tim, what your looking for really is philosophical debate, which I enjoy more than the anyone. However keeping 2 Tim 3:7 I try to spend more time on things I can prove to be true. |

Tinm Now see I'm getting sucked in here, and I promised myself I wouldn't. What you stated is the perfect Mid Trib position. With the exception of the Battle of Armageddon, which occurs before the Millenial reign not after Rev 19. However as a pre-trib I would say your wrong, that the church has to be removed before the Anitchrist will reign. As a post Trib I would say your wrong that the church will go through the Trib and meet with Jesus for the Battle of Armageddon. There we have all three now what? Since the Bible and Revelation isn't clear on the exact timing we can discuss/debate these forever. If you want to discuss something unanswerable, I'll give you Four. 1. Who is going through the millenium? 2. Where are the living people kept while the heavens and earth are being consumed with fire and new and new earth are being formed? 3. In Revelation 21:27 it says that no one that lies will enter the New Jerusalem, does that imply there are liars alive on earth at this time? 4. Rev 22:4 says the leave of the tree of life will be for the healing of the nations, does that mean there will be people that need healing? |

Tim I don't think it is matter of shying away from something volatile. The question is to what end? The pre, mid, and post trib debate has raged for generations, without end. To rehash it here serves what purpose? There has to be a thousand books defending any one position, comparing them, showing error of doctrine, debating them, and etc. By bringing it up here would do what? Other than show who possibly is best debater. Do you think anyone will change their beliefs? And if they do who is to say that their new position is correct? I suspect most people here attend a church, their church probably teaches their position on pre, mid, post or no trib. If one could/would change another’s beliefs probably the most that would be accomplished is to now have that person at odds with what their church believes. Therefore all we have accomplished is bringing strife. I think the forum should stay with answerable questions, and shy away from philosophical debates without end. |

4905 | How can Christ return be imminent? | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 14831
Interestingly the four feast that have been fullfilled are called the spring feasts and the ones that have yet to be fulfilled are called the fall feast. Notice the spring feast have to do with sowing and reaping. The fall feast are Judgement and Atonement. With the last feast a celebration that reminds the people they are pilgrims, aliens that live in tents rather than homes. Otherwords, don't get comfortable here this isn't your home! Your right the feasts are a type and picture of the whole story of the Bible. God is glorious and greatly to be praised.
4906 | Divine Healing, True or False? | Matthew | EdB | 14746
Kimberly Much of what you said is right on, however YOU (not me)have to question your motives. Are you giving to honor God and bless the other ministries or are you giving to get back? In other words would you be so willing to give if you knew you would get nothing in return. If the answer is NO then your giving for the wrong reason! If you give for the wrong reason God has no responsibility to honor your giving. This principal is taught in Luke 14:12-14 "Then He also said to him who invited Him, "When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid. [13] But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind. [14] And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just." |

4907 | Do i need a resignation letter to leave | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 14547
In my humble opinion any pastor worth his salt would ask why she left and did she talk to her Pastor? Once he found that she left on the terms you give I would hope he would work for reconcilation between her and the former pastor. Again that is my opinion of a Pastor that is worth his salt.
4908 | Are those He called always chosen? | Rom 8:30 | EdB | 14386
Joe, I believe unless the Holy Spirit changes a person they are still unsaved no matter what. I believe that emotional responses that are generated by emotionally charged stories have little lasting effect. We all have probably heard the story of the bridge keeper and his son, where he is forced to make the decision between crushing his son in the gears of the bridge or having the train fall from the raised bridge. To me this story plies on the emotions of man and has little to do with actual salvation. I have seen people rush to altars after this story has been told in what I consider an emotional response to salvation not spiritual. I know in my own life as a young boy 12-14 ish I was at summer camp ran by the EUB church. They had a evangelist that presented a very emotional altar call. I rushed to the altar broken hearted and weeping. However after the emotions died nothing else had changed. It wasn’t until 14 years later I was reading an AWFUL book “Angels on Assignment” that I knew it was time to get real with God. I prayed a real simple prayer of “yes God”. From that point on I can trace the changes that have taken place in my life. I was no longer the same person. Many would say I was saved at 14 and that God had his hand on me all that time. If God was with me those 14 or so years I can testify God is not easily embarrassed. The things I did and saw now embarrass me! Others would say it wasn’t until later when yielded my life to God did salvation truly come to me. Funny thing is through it all I knew Jesus was the Son of God, that he had died for my sins. That was just a fact to me for as long as I can remember. And the one thing I would never do, not matter what, was use God’s name in vain. Joe and Tim you tell me when did I get saved? Was it when I believed in Jesus as the Son of God and who died for my sins age at time –5 years. Or was it at camp that one summer when I went to the altar and emotional responded and wept for my soul age 12-14. Or was it when I said yes to God age 30? I pose this question because I don’t think you can answer. Why because I believe salvation is a process that occurs, it requires action from the believer and action from the God. If God hadn’t sent His Spirit into me I would still be lost, if I hadn’t yielded my will to God I would still be lost. If God hadn’t sought me I would still be lost and if I hadn’t sought God I would still be lost. Which came first my desire for God or God’s desire for me. Obviously His desire for me so we would have to say God started the process. When was it completed when I believed in Jesus? When I wept? When I yielded? I believe when I yielded. Seems it took two. God and me. |

4909 | What do YOU think, fellow Berian? | 1 Thess 5:23 | EdB | 14341
Bill I think the focus is on repentance, when Peter was asked what must we do to be saved he said repent and be baptized. There is a teaching that says we must bring our actions under the blood of Jesus, especially our sins so that they may be forgiven. I’m not so sure that they need to be forgiven, for as you said Jesus died for our sins past present and future. But by repenting or confessing we are reaffirming that Jesus is Lord of our lives. The actual act of confessing and asking forgiveness really becomes an act of submission. Submitting ourselves once again to the Lord or Lords and the King of Kings. I think Christianity gets all tied up in semantics and word definitions. One time I mentioned pleading the blood of Jesus, and you would have thought the world slide to a stop. Where was that in Bible? Is that scriptural? Etc. When I plead the Blood of Jesus I’m really rehearsing and proclaiming my position in Christ. Much like David did when he went out to meet Goliath and rehearsed what God had delivered him of. I’m stating the fact that since I’m under the blood my High Priest Jesus Christ is standing ready to defend me before God. That no power in this world is greater than the power within me. I’m not asking that mystical covering of blood flow over me to protect me but rather to assure myself of Who I rely on. |

4910 | Are we do pray to Jesus? | Matt 6:9 | EdB | 14339
Now see I was always taught to pray to Father God as we were given the example by Jesus, and do it in Jesus name. Since he is the mediator and guarantor of the New Testament that brought us into relationship with God. Also Jesus said that if we ask in his name we would receive. I have never prayed to the Holy Spirit since I believe His function is to lead us to truth and turn eyes toward God the Father and Jesus His son.
4911 | Are those He called always chosen? | Rom 8:30 | EdB | 14265
Nolan Once again you show yourself to be a gentleman and scholar. Anyone that agrees with me I consider such :-). However at this point the vote is two (You and I) against 3 (Joe, Tim and Rextar) so I guess being out voted we need to clench our teeth, smile and pray a full war does not once again break out.
4912 | Are those He called always chosen? | Rom 8:30 | EdB | 14263
Joe having studied the two teachings at some length I find the differences little more than lessons in semantics and definitions than any thing else. I believe if each side could (and that is a “big” could) accurately define and qualify their points of contention they would find there isn’t a big difference between them. As for salvation and evangelism I fail to see how either position views that differently. One side may approach the subject with a little more zeal than the other. One side may view the expected results of evangelism differently, but as far as methodology and need I see little difference. As for the sovereignty of God I think both stand in agreement. However I believe one side is accused of fostering the New Age teaching known as Word of Faith that makes God little more than a parking lot attendant. However when you get down to the basics that is simply not true and this teaching is considered false by Calvinist and Arminianist alike. However if you feel that your adding value to the forum rather than just using it to preach your soapbox have at it. Right now the vote is 2 to 3 to continue. |

4913 | Are those He called always chosen? | Rom 8:30 | EdB | 14259
Rextar I’m sorry to differ with you but what they are presenting are classic textbook discussions that have taken place for the last 400 years. Joe is using all the Calvinist proof text and Morgan61 is using all the Arminianist proof text. Nothing of new value is being added nor would I expect it to be since as I have said this discussion has been hashed and rehashed for approx. 400 years. However I believe if you could get into the heart of both Joe and Morgan61 and be able to understand what it is they really believe you would find there isn’t a significant difference. Their conclusion is the same, “People need Jesus”, the only thing that is different is their starting point. |

4914 | Are those He called always chosen? | Rom 8:30 | EdB | 14257
Tim, your right this discussion is hundred times better than “who married Cain” or 50 or so other discussions that have been beaten to death on the forum. However to what end to continue? I believe both Calvin and Arminus were both men that felt as you if they could be shown the problem with their thinking they would change. However as history proves they nobody could. I think the men that have debated this subject over the years have been men that if like you could be shown the error of their ways would also change. Now we know the bible wasn’t written to be taken two ways so where is the problem. I believe it exist in definitions and semantics. I really thin the Calvinist and the Arminianist are really talking the same things just saying it differently and the subject is so inflammatory that neither slows down long enough to explore common ground. But as I said to Joe if you feel your adding value to the forum and not just using it for preaching your soapbox have at it. |

4915 | Are those He called always chosen? | Rom 8:30 | EdB | 14131
Reformer Joe and Morgan61 let me ask some questions. What is accomplished by the two of you going back and forth rehashing the same ground? One makes a point the other tells him he took scripture out of context or didn’t interpret it right, then the other comes back with his points showing where the other did the same. If one or the other could be proven right, assuming your both saved, what would the winner have the loser do different? What would the winner do different? In truth how does this discussion effect eternity? The points you hash and rehash are the standard points of Calvinism and Arminianism, your presenting nothing new. The debate has raged for over 400 years. My question to the both of you to what end? If you really enjoy flogging a dead horse why not give each other your e-mail address and you two can go at each other until you tire or declare a winner (if that happened I would fall over dead :-) ) and give the forum a break. I’m not being mean spirited or at least I not trying, but I have read point and counter point and neither one has convinced the other and I suspect neither ever will. Why not give us all a rest? |

4916 | Early church support for Peter as Pope? | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 14025
Joe First I question my wisdom replying to you, your mind seems to be shut to any idea other than the ones you presently hold. That's okay but it doesn’t lend to sharing of ideas very well. However I venture in. First I believe God gives us a free will, which to me means he allows us to make choices. I believe God leads us upon life’s highway and there are forks in the road. God allows us to choose which fork to take. God knows the forks we will choose but God allows us to make the choice ourselves. I further believe that situations, past experiences, beliefs, faith and many other similar factors help determine the choices we make. Since the path we are on isn’t plotted in concrete God will bring things into our life that will eventually take us to where God desires us to be. Where we start and where we end are up to God, how we got there and how many forks in the road we had to take to get there are determined by us. I believe this holds true for living entities like the church of Jesus Christ. Studying church history has convinced me the church just like us at times, chooses the less expeditious fork and therefore is forced to experience things that aren’t always positive. Two examples of this that stand out to me is the fork that lead the church into the dark ages, with the inquisitions and crusades. Another is the reformation, I believe some bad choices were made and we are still paying the price. Does that mean God has lost control? Absolutely not! Is the church where God wants it? I don’t believe so. Is the church going to get to the place God has for it? Absolutely yes! Was there an easier way to get there? Only God know that. Hence the answer I gave that seems to have so astounded your sensibilities and caused you to respond to my response to JVH0212 the way you did. Shelah EdB |

If you looking for a name call Him I AM or ABBA Father. If your trying to tell us how big He is go out and look at the stars and know he spread them with a sweep of His hand. If you want to say something okay but don't sit here and talk about a force. Your in the wrong place God is a being not the force of Star Wars. He is a loving and caring father if you can't make that connection don't try to sell ALL
