42 | Can there be a doctine of atonement ? | Rom 5:11 | Ken John | 113559
Thank you brother CDBJ for your detailed answer to my question. It has given me a better understanding of "atonement"(meaning to cover) as a doctrine of the Gospel. "Reconciliation" does not seem to fit this verse Romans 5:11 whereas it may do so elsewhere in Scripture. I love the Word of God so hunger for a clear understanding of it so please forgive me if my questions seem stupid. Blessings, Ken.
43 | Can there be a doctine of atonement ? | Rom 5:11 | Ken John | 113523
Rom 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. Can there be a "doctrine of atonement?" Many of our translations use "reconciliation" but Textus Receptus in the Greek uses "atonement" (katallagay') Ken |

44 | Why did Jesus curse the fig tree? | Matt 21:19 | Ken John | 113439

45 | Matthew 21:19 was this a miracle or not | Matt 21:19 | Ken John | 113340
Hi Mommapbs, Thanks for your "chew." No doubt this is a Divine Miracle from our perspective because nothing is impossible with God. There is a reason for everything in Scripture so that's why studying the Word is so wonderful. Flinkywood asked a similar question and the answers were most interesting. Perhaps you will have read that string already. May I ask what your other "speculations" are ? Blessings, Ken |

46 | Why did Jesus curse the fig tree? | Matt 21:19 | Ken John | 113320
Greetings brothers, After asking my question iro Matthew 21:19, I discovered that Flinkywood had asked almost the same question. How does one avoid doing this ? However I have now read what everyone has written and the excellent answers clear up some of my question. I now believe this was a miracle by Jesus. I was interested that this tree had leave only. Psalm 1:3 refers to leaves which I believe are the outward testimony of man. God is interested in the inward man in that man should be rightly related to God through Christ. Without fruit (of the Spirit Gal 5:22) man will wither away. I feel Jesus is giving His disciples and US this message. Any thoughts ? Ken John |

53 | wine and acohol | 1 Tim 5:23 | Ken John | 111583
Greetings brother, I found your comments very interesting because this question of whether Jesus drank wine in the alcoholic state is one which I have researched for an explanation also. As you know alcohol has a good purpose as is everything that our Almighty God has created. Of course man comes along and abuses what he has been given. One can continue on this line for most thing on the globe. In the case of Jesus making wine at the wedding feast, I cannot envisage our Lord creating something that would harm those drinking it. However, whether it was grape juice or not only He can give us an answer. I will continue to research nevertheless. Blessings, Ken John |

54 | Matthew 19:16-30 please clarify? | Matt 19:29 | Ken John | 111496
I agree that the disciples did not think of themselves as servants in the Kingdom reading their statement in verse 27 and Jesus confirms that they will be "upon twelve thones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel." (verse 28) It's interesting to note that Jesus did not rebuke Peter for his earlier remarks. Yet in Mark 10:40 after John and James had made a request to Jesus to sit one on His right hand and the other on His left, Jesus told them it is not His to give "but it is given to them for whom it is prepared." Is there a contradiction here? There is so little we know about the Kingdom but, maybe, it is not for us to know until we are ready to be told the mystery things of God. Blessings, Ken John.
55 | Matthew 19:16-30 please clarify? | Matt 19:29 | Ken John | 111390
Thanks Searcher56 for your answer. Having read the verses you quoted again, I see that this does not refer to salvation but to rewards. Is Scripture telling us that the position at the table depends upon one's rewards? That is, the more rewards the closer to Jesus? Or the more one gives up and becomes a servant, the closer to Jesus? Are we to be servants on earth as well as in the Kingdom? Jesus' disciples gave up everything (Matt 19:27) yet Jesus tells them they will "sit upon twelve thrones"(verse 28) which doesn't identify with being servants ? |

Gentlemen, It would seem that there have been some misunderstandings concerning the various translations of the bible. I am sorry if I have trodden on a few toes. I do not wish to be the cause of unhappiness or disputes. The point I was trying to make (probably badly it would seem by the reaction from all of you)is that God is using the King James Version to speak to me more than any other translation. I came to Christ reading the NIV but, as I grew in Him, I found errors in that translation so turned to the KJV. "How sweet are thy Words unto my taste!yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!" Psalm 119:103. As a mature Christian, I am well aware of the history of the bible and all the translations. I am also sensitive to the fact that the evil one is at work and man is easily led astray so one must test everything. In closing, I pray that God's Will and Truth will lead you in your studies. Until He comes again, Ken John. |

What surprises me is the time several of you have spent debating the various translations and criticising those who have the good sense to use the King James Bible to read, study and memorise God's Holy Word. If you look back in history, you will come to appreciate that many of God's Saints have used the King James Bible in missionary and saving souls. Maybe if you spent more time reading God's Word instead of finding fault with it, you will come to realise, as did George Muller,Spurgeon,George Whitefield and many other God Fearing men that our Holy God does not LIE (Titus 1:2). I take very strong exception to the statement... "The King James Onlyists are an ODD BUNCH and they have founded what is essentially a cult which, like all cults, SEEMS to follow flawless reasoning that leads to a perfectly logical conclusion, but its premise is wrong." I have read several translations, particularly when I was still a babe in Christ, but in my opinion the KJV is for the mature in Christ. When I first came to use this Forum I believed it was a good opportunity for getting to know other believers. Now I have changed my mind and will spend my time usefully in the study of God's Word. May God Guide you in His Truth, Ken John. |

59 | Does God save children ? | Matt 18:5 | Ken John | 110632
In Matthew 18:5 Jesus is talking about children and the high value He places on them. Today there are so many children from broken homes who maybe don't know about salvation through Jesus. On the other hand there are those from good homes who don't get taught about Jesus Christ. Would these children be saved in God's Eyes? |

60 | Who was Adam and Eve's mother? | Matt 19:4 | Ken John | 110629
Greetings Rowdy, Thanks for your answer. I agree with what you have said that Moses wrote the first five books but under God's inspiration. So God was both father and mother to Adam and Eve ? However Jesus knew the position so why did He mention a father and a mother when, as I read this verse Matt 19:5, He was referring to marriage way back in the beginning? Am I reading into this more than there is? Or is Jesus telling us something we should know for life today? |
