41 | WHAT ARE SOME OF THE FEATS OF THE BIBLE? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 127657
Do you have in mind, miraculous acts like Samson's killing of tens of thousands of Philistenes by pushing down some pillars or David's killing of a giant soilder when David was a mere boy with no armor? Maybe you're referring to the very dramatic contest of Elijah and his God and that of the false gods at Mt. Carmel in 1 Ki 18? There are many more such feats in the Bible. To which category are you referring? Maybe you could give us a few more details? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

At least we'll be in good company. Some of David's best Psalms were written after his humbling resulting from his love affair with Bathsheba. Among my favorites: Psalms 51 and 119. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

44 | I'm referring to Holy Communion. | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 127878
God's Girl, I noticed you posted the same statement "I'm referring to Holy Communion" three times, all within a couple of minutes of each other, so it looks like that was a mistake on your part. Most everyone has done it at least once. Look, those on the Forum with a long history of staying there know the secret to success is being completely honest with the Forum participants. Since we are talking about discussing the truths of God's Word with God's children, it wouldn't be productive to do anything else on this particular Forum. If you wish to participate under these and the other Forum parameters, I would encourage you to do so and respond completely to the reasonable queries that have been posted for you. I really can't help if you wish to pursue some other goal(s) or an undisclosed agenda. We all however do wish God's blessings to you, regardless of your decision. Country Girl |

I just read your very interesting poem but I can't see very much of a good moral to it. I can only suppose you'll enlighten us when you're ready. I'll be watching for both your wrap to this and the other responses you'll be getting. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

46 | I married wrong woman,what can I do? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 128052
God would want you to expend every fiber of your being toward a long and fruitful life with the lady of your life...and you'll be a better husband after this process of trial and refinement. Have you told her how you feel when she does/says these things? Have you considered seeing a christian marriage counselor? One in whom both of you can trust and will be balanced but Godly for both of you? Again, I would encourage to exhuast every means at your disposal as God only gives two possible ways to exit a marriage: death or adultery. I assume naturally neither of these should even come up for discussion at this point. We'll be praying for you to receive blessings of encouragement and strength to follow God's Will in this struggle. Country Girl |

47 | Christians before Jesus came | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 128616
I do agree with you about the OT folks who were looking forward to salvation based on their belief in their God in spite of not knowing the details. However, I must disagree as follows. Quoted from your statement: As for the Gentiles before Jesus they weren't saved...The Gentiles are pagan and therefore not saved. In contrast, Rom 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law 13(for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified; 14for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, 15who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) 16in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel. We see in this Book from Paul that God does deal with those who live and die without the law. They're judged by how well they lived and abided by the conscience that God gave them, verse 15. I'm thankful that our God truly is a just and loving God. His Judgments are perfect and just. Blessings to you, dear friend. Country Girl |

No, I don't have a problem with this seeming conflict. I'm not sure but it seems Jesus was applying this principle of "no one comes..." to those who heard His voice then AND all those who read or understand His Message through some other medium forever thereafter. In my mind, since the NT also provides this guidance as cited in Rom 2, this is the only way I can see resolving this seeming conflict. Also this would accommodate our God's Perfect Sense of Justice, which we all face on Judgment Day. How do you resolve the conflict? How do you interpret Paul's guidance in Rom 2? How about if we get a reading of the "no one comes" phrase from our Greek scholars? Tim Moran, could one of you respond? Thanks. Blessings to you. Country Girl PS: By the way, I also noticed in several of your recent posts, you have a tendancy to use "your" when you really want to use "you're." Sorry, it's just the proofreader in me...it's been done to me so much. Just trying to help. |

I have that problem all the time. After the invention of the spell checker, the next greatest was that of the grammar checker. They both save me a lot of headaches IF I can just remember to use them. Now where's that toolbar...oh shucks, it's not on the Forum. We sure do need one. Blessings to you, Country Gir. |

I guess you can call me stubborn but I'm still not convinced. The people in OT times, were obsessed with the physical world. They even wanted their beloved Messiah to come and rescue them from the Roman Empire. How can you say those folks, even the faithful Jews, the ones who really did love God had a mistaken concept of what the Messiah was all about. How could they put faith in such a person? In contrast, I would say that those people did put their faith in God and just left the details to Him. But the biggest area where I disagree in this area is that of the whole world of people who have never heard the name of Christ nor have they even heard of a Bible. They've never heard the name Jehovah, God Almighty, Allah or any of the other names of the one true God as described in our Bible. True enough, this planet and its wonderful beauty does teach a person that there is a Greater Being who deserves our worship. Our inner conscience whispers to us that we know right from wrong at an early age and thus we suspect we should behave in accordance with that conscience or pay the consequences. How can you and EdB think that God is going to condemn to Hell all those who don't know Christ in spite of Paul's simple, straight forward words in Rom 2? I'm afraid it's going to take a little more convincing. But I will check with my Greek resources and friends about this "no one comes" phrase. This seeming conflict is a challenge so I'll get back to you guys. Blessings to you all. Country Girl |

Quoted from your post: Do you see what I am saying? The NT authors (and Jesus) were using a pesher method to make Jesus fulfill these IT ideas of the Messiah. Zechariah 9 was never intended to do this. What is a "pesher method?" Please explain. Thanks and blessings to you. Country Girl |

53 | Random Acts of Kindness | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 128997
Recently I've posted a couple statements discussing acts of kindness or items of work for our Lord and thought this article certainly qualifies. The BIG bonus is...it's a true story. Sorry had to subdivide it. Random Acts of Kindness (Part 1) As she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children an untruth. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same. However, that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard. Mrs Jean Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he did not play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath. In addition, Teddy could be unpleasant. It got to the point where Mrs Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and then putting a big "F" at the top of his papers. At the school where Mrs Thompson taught, she was required to review each child's past records and she put Teddy's off until last. However, when she reviewed his file, she was in for a surprise. Teddy's first grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is a bright child with a ready laugh. He does his work neatly and has good manners...he is a joy to be around." His second grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is an excellent student, well liked by his classmates, but he is troubled because his mother has a terminal illness and life at home must be a struggle." His third grade teacher wrote, "His mother's death has been hard on him. He tries to do his best, but his father doesn't show much interest and his home life will soon affect him if some steps aren't taken." Teddy's fourth grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is withdrawn and doesn't show much interest in school. He doesn't have many friends and he sometimes sleeps in class." By now, Mrs Thompson realized the problem and she was ashamed of herself. She felt even worse when her students brought her Christmas presents, wrapped in beautiful ribbons and bright paper, except for Teddy's. His present was clumsily wrapped in the heavy, brown paper that he got from a grocery bag. Mrs Thompson took pains to open it in the middle of the other presents. Some of the children started to laugh when she found a rhinestone bracelet with some of the stones missing, and a bottle that was one-quarter full of perfume. But she stifled the children's laughter when she exclaimed how pretty the bracelet was, putting it on, and dabbing some of the perfume on her wrist. Teddy Stoddard stayed after school that day just long enough to say, "Mrs Thompson, today you smelled just like my Mom used to." After the children left, she cried for at least an hour. On that very day, she quit teaching reading, writing and arithmetic. Instead, she began to teach children. Mrs Thompson paid particular attention to Teddy. As she worked with him, his mind seemed to come alive. The more she encouraged him, the faster he responded. By the end of the year, Teddy had become one of the smartest children in the class and, despite her lie that she would love all the children the same, Teddy became one of her "teacher's pets." A year later, she found a note under her door, from Teddy, telling her that she was still the best teacher he ever had in his whole life. Please read Part II. Country Girl |

54 | Random Acts of Kindness (Part II) | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 129024
Random Acts of Kindness (Part II) Six years went by before she got another note from Teddy. He then wrote that he had finished high school, third in his class, and she was still the best teacher he ever had in life. Four years after that, she got another letter, saying that while things had been tough at times, he'd stayed in school, had stuck with it, and would soon graduate from college with the highest of honors. He assured Mrs Thompson that she was still the best and favorite teacher he had ever had in his whole life. Then four more years passed and yet another letter came. This time he explained that after he got his bachelor's degree, he decided to go a little further. The letter explained that she was still the best and favorite teacher he ever had. But now his name was a little longer.... the letter was signed, Theodore F. Stoddard, MD The story does not end there. You see, there was yet another letter that Spring. Teddy said he had met this girl and was going to be married. He explained that his father had died a couple of years ago and he was wondering if Mrs Thompson might agree to sit at the wedding in the place that was usually reserved for the mother of the groom. Of course, Mrs Thompson did. And guess what? She wore that bracelet, the one with several rhinestones missing. Moreover, she made sure she was wearing the perfume that Teddy remembered his mother wearing on their last Christmas together. They hugged each other, and Dr Stoddard whispered in Mrs Thompson's ear, "Thank you Mrs Thompson for believing in me. Thank you so much for making me feel important and showing me that I could make a difference." Mrs Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back. She said, "Teddy, you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didn't know how to teach until I met you! ." (For those of you who don't know, Teddy Stoddard is the Dr at Iowa Methodist in Des Moines that has the Stoddard Cancer Wing.) Warm someone's heart today. . . pass this along. I love this story so very much, I cry every time I read it. Just try to make a difference in someone's life today? tomorrow? just "do it". Random acts of kindness, I think they call it? End of Article Can't add a single word. Blessings to you all. Country Girl |

55 | biblcal reference to lessons | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 129359
I can't think of a specific verse that speaks to this subject. But I do think the Bible in general, particularly the OT goes over the same story about the Israelites losing and regaining the favor of God shows us that basic principle. Remember, the basic purpose of the Bible is to introduce God, His Thoughts, His Ways to us, His creation AND to assure us that He loves us enough to have sent His Son and reserve a place for us in Heaven. Hope this helps. I'll be watching, hoping someone, knowing God's Word a little better will come up with a verse in support of this principle. Blessings to you, Country Girl. |

56 | Verses relating to backstabbing. | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 129537
The only topic I can think of that relates to backstabbing would be the sin of gossipping which is found in these verses. Prov 20:19 He who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets, Therefore do not associate with a gossip. Rom 1:29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 2 Cor 12:20 For I am afraid that perhaps when I come I may find you to be not what I wish and may be found by you to be not what you wish; that perhaps there will be strife, jealousy, angry tempers, disputes, slanders, gossip, arrogance, disturbances; 1 Tim 3:11 Women must likewise be dignified, not malicious gossips, but temperate, faithful in all things. 1 Tim 5:13 At the same time they also learn to be idle, as they go around from house to house; and not merely idle, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things not proper to mention. 2 Tim 3:3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, Titus 2:3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, I would recommend your studying those and the context around them, select the best ones applicable to your paticular fancy and let God's Word speak for Itself. Sounds like a very worthwhile project. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

58 | What is God's major attribute? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 129549
Please forgive as I feel like I'm on a playground, explaining myself to the school principal. I couldn't help but notice you've posted 31 questions in 2 days and 1 single note which was posted to me just now. Please understand, we're used to a little more of an even exchange of information around here. You ask a few, we ask a few and we all exchange answers and notes. There's usually quite a flurry of discussions on some threads. How about if you give us a little more of an introduction on your background and where you're at in your spiritual walk with the Lord? Just curious. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

Thanks for the background information. It's good to get to know someone with whom you're discussing God's Word. Now let's get back to the subject at hand. What do you consider to be God's major attribute and why? What scriptures would you offer in support? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

60 | does the Bible address things breaking | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 130022
There are only a few verses in the Bible that indicate God's actual physical manipulation and superceding natural laws of nature (without a person involved) like the Burning Bush appearing to Moses. Another incident in this category is the splitting of the thick, heavy curtain separating the Holy of Holies from the rest of the temple. This curtain was very, very thick, something like a foot or more but it was torn completely like a piece of paper from top to bottom immediately at the very second of the Christ's death on the cross. Unless I'm badly mistaken, which is quite possible, all the other miracles of Bible here on earth were performed by God but they involved the prescence of another being, human or angel. I really don't think there's any cause for alarm in your case, as there is probably some natural explanation for these events. Blessings to you. Country Girl |
