121 | Why does God send storms? | Gen 3:17 | Country Girl | 133273
I like to think the storms in our world is God's way of trying to clean up the planet we humans have messed up so thoroughly. When one looks at all the awesome power and majesty that is shown throughout this world, we can only be impressed by God's talent. Look at the wonderful way this planet is balanced with the perfect amount of gravity so in spite of spinning through the cosmos at thousands of miles per hour, you and I stay put. Look at the perfect way friction works so that our car brakes slow our cars down just like they're designed. All the science that's evident in our world forces one to draw a solid conclusion. God is in charge and He knows exactly what He's doing. So, if He decides to send about 5-6 hurricanes out way, we have to trust Him and just "batten down the hatches" and endure. Our area is not in much danger of hurricanes but every single area of this planet is subject to some kind of danger. Ours is tonadoes. Some people put up with floods from too much rain, others put up with constant earthquakes like those in the Far Eastern "Rim of Fire." Others put up with Tsunamis (aka tidal waves). The bottom line is that this planet was perfect at its beginning with the Garden of Eden. Apparently, God kept all these things from happening but we messed that up and find ourselves with all the dynamics evident as described above. I, too am grateful that God truly is in charge of this planet and better than that, He's in charge of the next universe after the destruction of this one. Thank God He's given us the Way to find Him and go Home to Him after it's all gone. God bless. Country Girl |

122 | What does Genesis 3:24 mean? | Gen 3:24 | Country Girl | 126538
This verse 24 seems pretty clear. It is a result of God's attitude made plain in verse 22. Gen 3:22 Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever"-- Apparently, God didn't intend for man to live forever in his sinful state. He might have done so if he wasn't guilty of sin but we all know now that sin introduced death, pain and suffering into the world. Everything truly good in the world is a result from God, everything else is because of sin or the Devil. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

123 | What does Genesis 3:24 mean? | Gen 3:24 | Country Girl | 126661
This is an interesting statement. Please elaborate on these "prophetic implications" from this verse. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

124 | Would you say that Melchizedek was God | Gen 14:18 | Country Girl | 127429
I like to think that Melchizedek was of the same kindred spirit as in Abraham. Apparently he and Abraham worshipped the same God Almighty as you and I. I'm glad to think that Abraham wasn't alone in his world but had family members willing to give up their world and move with him, like Lot and his wife Sarah. But I'm even more glad that Abraham had a fellow child of God to share this kindred spirit of worship to their God, one who had an equally devoted spirit of love and dedication to this Supreme Being. What a wonderful legacy to leave to the whole world. And the ultimate descendant in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Yes, praise the Lord, God does love to fill us with questions and keep us yearning for answers, some of which just have to wait until we see Him "face to face." Blessings to you. Country Girl |

125 | Am I my brother's keeper? | Gen 28:15 | Country Girl | 123894
I was just reading this thread and found it to be interesting. I noticed you didn't really complete the line of thought you started with this post. So this line of reasoning begs the question: ARE we indeed our brother's or sister's keeper? I don't really see how we could consider this question from God, Creator of the Universe to be rhetorical. I'll wait for your response and then sumit my opinion. I would humbly suggest Ja 5:13-18 could be included in this discussion. What do you think? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

126 | Am I my brother's keeper? | Gen 28:15 | Country Girl | 123916
Have you ever inserted the words "one another" into the Word Search to come up with all the associated scriptures on the subject? I just did and there are dozens of such scriptures in the NT alone. It seems the Bible puts a tremendous emphasis on our relationship with our fellow christians here on earth. As a matter of fact, I believe John put so much emphasis on it, that we can't even hope to go to Heaven unless we're in fellowship with our brethren at least as much as it is possible with our direct input into that fellowship. (1 Jn 1 and 2) So you see, we can't be just satisfied that we have a good vertical relationship with God our Father. We must also strive for a balanced, horizontal relationship with our christian family here on earth. Yes, I'm very much afraid God does expect a positive answer to his question to Cain. For He does indeed expect us to be our brother's keeper. No, I'm not saying we must be ultimately responsible for our brother's sins UNLESS we are the direct cause, like our drinking alcohol in front of him when we know he has a weakness. But I am saying that God wants us to learn to truly love our fellow man, and most especially our fellow christian enough to check on them now and again. Encourage them, love on them and ocassionally chastise them when they really need it. We should see this relationship like blood brothers of the same earthly father, only better and closer for we all have the same eternal Father. For scriptures, I can only cite the ones already cited before. You probably know them better than I do. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

127 | Am I my brother's keeper? | Gen 28:15 | Country Girl | 123917
Gen 4:9 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" And he said, "I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?" Of course, you are correct but remember Cain asked this question because of God's question so in effect God still expects a good, positive answer from all us, His creation. But thanks for pointing our my error. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

128 | John8:24 and John8:57-58 | Ex 3:14 | Country Girl | 127436
Hank, I was just doing my usual, "cruising the Forum" and noticed DBR still hasn't answered your query, still on the list of questions. I'm hoping you might have an answer for me, just for my curiosity. I've never seen the strange symbols and don't have a clue as to their meaning. I'm referring to the strange, unusual symbols on DBR's original post at the very beginning of this thread. They almost look like Eygptian heirogliphics (sp?). Can you expound on them? If not, I'll hope DBR will do so. One more question: How did strange symbols pass through the famous Forum filter? Whenever I use a symbol as innocent as the percentage mark, it holds up my message and early in my Forum learning curve, I would lose my message althogether. Just wondering. Thanks for putting up with me. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

129 | John8:24 and John8:57-58 | Ex 3:14 | Country Girl | 127480
I was anticipating that you wouldn't know too much about DBR's special symbols, so I guess I'll relay my question directly to him. I must admit, I'm a little intrigued by these symbols but for the sake of younger, inexperienced christians, I'm more concerned about the use of such language, especially since he didn't see fit to define up front when he should have known to have done so. Naturally, our suspicions are aroused and defensive mechanisms are flexed as you've done so well. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

130 | John8:24 and John8:57-58 | Ex 3:14 | Country Girl | 127482
First of all, I would like to urge you to respond to Hank's questions. He's very devoted to the Forum and really has the best interests at heart of all of us Forum participants. Second item for me is your use of the highly unusual and specialized symbols in your post. I'm thinking you already knew you really should have used these symbols ONLY if you provided their definitions for each one. Naturally, these symbols and the general tenor of your post puts people like Hank, myself and others on the defensive. So please respond with a full explanation of your statement, including these symbols. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

131 | The Holiness of God | Lev 10:3 | Country Girl | 125845
I have to admit, I'm a little confused by all this posting of 5 statements, 4 of which are identical, posted within a few minutes and then this, the grand summary, all on the Holiness of God. Why all the dramatics? Anyway, in answer to your question. After reading and re-reading God's Word over and over again, we can but say we are the creation, God's vessels of clay and He is the Creator. A person could also ask why did God strike down dead His servant Uzzah for touching the ark to steady it. We could ask why did He let His beloved King David kill such an innocent and noble soldier as Uzziah and let David live after committing adultery with Uzziah's wife. And naturally, the questions Job posed in his book never get answers in spite of Job's living a good life and not ever giving up his faith in God; why was Job abused so badly by Satan and allowed by God? The answer although not pleasant is rather simple. God is the Supreme Being and He does as He likes or dislikes and He really doesn't have to explain Himself or answer any of our silly questions. But we should consider Him completely Holy, worthy of all Praise and Honor. The slightest sin in our lives are like filthy rags to Him and thus we truly are less than worthy to receive the wonderful gift of salvation or Heaven when we die but nevertheless we can all look forward to that goal when we become one of His. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

You can see all your 5 posts on this subject lined up together when you click on the link "Needing follow up?" on the left side of your screen. I like to check it periodically to see if there's anything of interest to me and few or no one else has responded. I admit sometimes my trigger finger on the submit button is also a little too anxious or too impatient for my computer. Blessings to you, my friend. Country Girl |

133 | law of love and homosexuality? | Lev 18:22 | Country Girl | 127733
Sounds solid and Biblical to me. Just my thinking but homosexuality, its practice or political endorsement is no more hated by God than murder, adultery, lying or any of the other sins listed in our Bibles. The single concept we as humans must understand is that God sees all this as rebellion against His Will or His Guidance. I can't be certain in this but it does seem that homosexuality and adultery both have their own special "reaping what they sow" in the diseases that are spread and wreck havoc with this kind of activity. So in effect, we do see that God really does have our best interest at His Heart. I believe it's generally accepted throughout most of the developed world that even if you don't want to become a christian BUT you do follow God's Guidance in our Bibles (just good moral business decisions), then chances are very high in your favor that you'll be very successful in your business. But for maximum benefit, I do belieive God blesses christians far more so as cited in Rom 8:28. Blessings to you all. Country Girl |

134 | Integrity | Num 12:7 | Country Girl | 132024
As you've seen in the numerous responses, it's difficult to narrow the answer down to just one, there are so many good candidates from God's Word. But it seems you're striving to narrow the field down to those who showed such integrity ALL their lives (which you neglected to make clear in your initial question :-). So people like David, Paul and Moses who made serious mistakes in their lives wouldn't qualify and meet your very tough standard. I'm not sure I could top your candidates of Daniel or Joseph but I would remind you that Joseph did try to assert his way with his father in switching hands on his sons. That's the single instance where we see Joseph not in complete sync with God's chosen. One more candidate that at least should NOT be left out of this line up is Enoch. We don't know much about him but he at least led such a good life that God took him without the advent of death. Your question does spark some very good discussion so Blessings to you, my friend. 135 | Jews at the Wailing Wall of Jerusalem | Deut 9:18 | Country Girl | 126041
I've been watching some news articles and every once in a while, catch some passing photos and video depicting Jews praying at the famous Wailing Wall of Jerusalem. I realize the name comes from all the grief meted out to the Jews over the centuries with emphasis to their loss as a nation in the first century. Now my question about their body motions there at the wall. Why is it when these Jews pray or read from their scriptures, they rock their heads or their upper torso back and forth? It's always been kinda curious to me but I'm just now remembering to ask those of you that might know. Please enlighten me. Thanks and blessings to you all. Country Girl |

136 | Did i say you should call me GOD?' | Deut 17:15 | Country Girl | 130216
If you're having doubts about God and His Word, our Bible, I can only suggest your checking into the website of Dr. Bert Thompson. The website is www.apologeticspress.org. He is a christian first and foremost but he's also a scientist and puts out a wealth of information about evidences in favor of christianity. I'm afraid I would have to side with the others on the Forum. I would have grave concerns about turning away from christianity in favor of any other religion. I think Peter sums this up quite well in 2 Pet 2:22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: "A dog returns to his own vomit," and, "a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire." I do hope you'll pray and study long and hard before making such an important decision for the rest of your eternity. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

137 | More evidence in the rulership case. | 1 Sam 8:7 | Country Girl | 130371
You seem to be persuaded that the end of the world is upon us like maybe tomorrow. I would remind you that the Lord predicted that He would come at an hour when none of us expected it, "like a thief in the night." Also we have previous examples of God's destruction on a wide scale. When he destroyed the world with the flood, He waited until there was so much evil thinking and sinful activity that only Noah and his 7 family members were saved. When God forecasted the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, He negotiated with Abraham all the way down to a mere 10 people. Yet only Lot and his immediate family of 3 made it out of the city alive and of course Lot's wife didn't last long afterwards. What we can conclude from all this? God is incredibly kind and gracious, patient almost to infinity. So I wouldn't fold up shop quite yet. The most important thing for christians to do in this age of questioning and national wavering in belief in God is to stand fast and shine His light round about us. Give comfort to those that need it and encourage everyone "to remain faithful til death," Rev 2:10. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

138 | Can we learn anything from Naaman? | 1 Sam 15:22 | Country Girl | 127232
What should we learn from Naaman and his story about his healing from leporsy? 2 Kin 5:9 So Naaman came with his horses and his chariots and stood at the doorway of the house of Elisha. 2 Kin 5:10 Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, "Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh will be restored to you and you will be clean." 2 Kin 5:11 But Naaman was furious and went away and said, "Behold, I thought, 'He will surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the leper.' 2 Kin 5:12 "Are not Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?" So he turned and went away in a rage. 2 Kin 5:13 Then his servants came near and spoke to him and said, "My father, had the prophet told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, 'Wash, and be clean'?" 2 Kin 5:14 So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child and he was clean. 2 Kin 5:15 When he returned to the man of God with all his company, and came and stood before him, he said, "Behold now, I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel; so please take a present from your servant now." We all know that quite often the OT casted foreshadows of things to come in the future so what could we gain from this story as there is nothing quite like it in the rest of the OT? I would say the climax is reached in verse 14 so I would especially be interested in your response to that verse. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

139 | Can we learn anything from Naaman? | 1 Sam 15:22 | Country Girl | 127264
I noticed you didn't elaborate on verse 14, specifically the number of dips into the river. What would be your response? How about verse 12? Why DID God emphasize Naaman's dipping into the Jordan? Why not have him dip into the cleaner rivers in his home country as he suggested? Maybe Emmanus will notice this post and respond with his thoughts. (He's asking a question with another post.) I don't want to prejudice everyone's response before I give my opinion on this topic. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

140 | Can we learn anything from Naaman? | 1 Sam 15:22 | Country Girl | 127266
Please see my post to Doc T about verse 12. Is there anything else we can glean or learn from this chapter? I'll monitor the responses closely and try to finalize my opinion in the very near future. Blessings to you. Country Girl |
