381 | God forgive no matter what | 2 Cor 5:8 | New Creature | 44400
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. John in his epistle says "If we confess our sins" the "we" and "our" in this verse refers to believers. The "If" which begins this verse is a conditional word. If we confess our sins, there is forgiveness and cleansing, and restoration to fellowship. (see 1 John 1:7) It is only as believers continue to walk in the light that we can have fellowship with Jesus Christ and find cleansing from all sin. In Isaiah is found: Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear. Unconfessed sin in the believers life, breaks our fellowship with God. Going back to 1 John 1:9 we could also say the following is likewise also true. If we don't confess our sins, God is not faithful to forgive us our unconfessed sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Spiros Zodhiates in his commentary on 1 John has the following to say concerning 1 John 1:9 "The verb "confess" ... presupposes consciousness and conviction for wrongdoing. The present subjunctive indicates that the process of confessing is energized each time we are convicted about a sin, and that EACH TIME we confess there is available forgiveness. "Faithful" (pistos- trustworthy) means that Christ can be trusted to grant us forgiveness EACH TIME we ask Him. Not only is He faithful, but He is also just (dikaios), fulfilling His declared promise. On the other hand, IF WE DO NOT CONFESS OUR SINS, it is within His justice not to forgive us even as a just judge could not allow a criminal to go free. The Lord keeps an account of unconfessed sins for which we bear the consequences. Our unconfessed sins will remain for eventual retribution (Heb. 10:26). Not to confess our sins is tantamount to claiming that we are sinless. In reality we are claiming that we are living the same perfect life which Christ lived, which is blasphemy ... the Lord's forgiveness is available to us EACH TIME we ask for it and as many times as is necessary." I would also like to state that when a believer is convicted of sin, this conviction comes from the Holy Spirit, and we need to immediately confess it, with the desire to turn from it. Unconfessed sin in the life a believer: (1) separates us from fellowship (Isaiah 59:2 and 1 John 1:7) (2) hinders our prayers. (John 9:31) (3) holds back God's desire to forgive us I hope this sheds some light on your question |

382 | come out | 1 John 2:15 | New Creature | 44322
Concerning worldliness which you ask about, consider the following verses Col. 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. Whatever leads us further away from Christ and not closer, is of the world and should be avoided. Prayerfully ask for wisdom and direction. |

Matthew 24:35 (also in Mark 13:31) thy word is truth. 384 | Could it be they're not true believers? | Luke 15:32 | New Creature | 44098
Well most people are divided on this, but I will ask you this. In the text of Heb. 10:29 I find this written, "hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing," You need to ask yourself, can it be said of an unbeliever that the "blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified." Can the above statement found in this verse, be ever speaking of an unbeliever? Is there such a thing as a sanctified unbeliever? What do you think? |

385 | Can you lose your salvation? | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 44097
Rather than give you my opinion on this topic, I will insted give you some Bible text to look up, and prayerfully ask the Lord to guide your thinking concerning these verses. The verses are. (Luke 8:13 along with Mark 4:16-17) They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for awhile believe, and in time of temptation FALL away. Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. (Heb. 6:4-6 New American Standard Bible) For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. 1 Tim. 5:15 For some are already turned aside after Satan. Rev. 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. 1 Tim. 4:1 the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils (John 15:6) If a man abide not me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. Rom 11:21-22 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. (Ezek. 3:20) When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die ... in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; (Gal. 1:6) I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ (Heb. 10:23,26-31, 38) Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering ... For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for our sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. May the Lord give you correct understanding about this question of yours |

386 | Are we free to disobey God's OT Law? (2) | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 43634
The OT law said "Thou shalt not kill." "Neither shalt thou commit adultery." " Neither shalt thou steal." etc. etc. Now that we are no longer under law, but under grace (Rom. 6:15) is it now ok to kill, commit adultery, steal, etc? It is obvious that it is just as wrong today to commit any of these acts, as it was when these laws were given. Rom. 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Jesus said, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Matt. 5:17-19 |

387 | What did you learn today? | Ps 119:11 | New Creature | 41638
Ps 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. I have learned that sin can keep us from God's word, and God's word can keep us from the sin we would otherwise be inclined to commit. God's word needs to be etched upon our hearts so it will be able to guide us and speak to our consciences to keep us on the narrow path that leads to life. (Matt 7:13-14) |

388 | Was Jesus Christ the God of the Old Test | 1 Cor 10:4 | New Creature | 41632
Greetings Arnie, Consider the following Scripture. 1Cor. 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. This portion of Scripture speaks of those who wandered in the wilderness after the Exodus from Egypt, and it says the "spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ." So to answer your question I would be inclined to say yes. |

390 | Are gays/lesbians bound for hell? | Rom 5:8 | New Creature | 41304
Hello Marquita Blakemore; Hopefully you will find the following Christian web-site helpful. http://www.exodusnorthamerica.org/aboutus/ They have helped people desiring to escape and be freed from a homosexual life-style. They have alot of testimonies on their web pages of people who have been delivered from homosexuality, and are now living ex-homosexual life-styles. I will pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to speak to you and give you wisdom and guidance for your life, and that He will continue to convict your conscience. I believe that God has a wonderful life for you if you will listen to the convicting inner voice of His Holy Spirit speaking to you. God loves you and so do I. |

391 | Are gays/lesbians bound for hell? | OT general | New Creature | 41263
Greetings Marquita Blakemore; The fact that you are concerned about the destiny of your soul indicates to me that God is speaking to you and loves you. You say you have excepted christ as savior; When we say we accept Christ as Savior that means that we believe everything He says about Himself, and also believe everything He says about us. I won't pull any punches with you, because I too care too much for your soul to see you miss out on all God desires for you. If God by His Holy Spirit is speaking to your heart and causing you to be concerned that your soul may be bound for hell, then I won't go against what I believe God is trying to tell you. But the reason God is speaking to your heart is because He wants to change you into what He would have you be. Don't take the voice of your inner conscience lightly. God is speaking, and has plans for a wonderful life in Heaven with Him so listen to what He is teaching you. Prayerfully read God's word, and ask Him to reveal the truth to you as I believe He is even now beginning to do. God loves you and I love you also |

392 | Old Testament Law | Jer 7:23 | New Creature | 41165
Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. The OT law states "thou shalt not lie, steal, etc. Is it ok to lie and steal? Paul says, now that were no longer under the law, but under grace, that doesn't give us a green light to do those things the law prohibited. Even under civil law, try shop-lifting from your local Wal-Mart. If you get caught you will get arrested. The law however is etched on the believers heart, not on tablets of stone. An unbeliever will not submit to God's law, that is why we need cicil law to restrain them. The believer submits to God's law by grace motivated obedience, and at the same time fulfills civil law also. |

393 | Christianity and beliefs | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 41022
Greetings charlottetu Interesting questions. So interesting that I decided to attempt to answer them the best I can. 1) Are you a commited Christian? Some people say I should be commited .... just joking. Yes I consider myself to be commmited and surrendered and yielded to Christ Jesus, however there are still a few areas of my life which have yet to be fully surrendered to His Lordship. 2) How did you become a Christian? I became a Christian through a co-worker who God used to lead me to the point which I received Christ Jesus into my heart and life as Savior and Lord. But all of that was actually the work of the Holy Spirit. 3)Do you belong to a particular denomination of the Church? I am a member of a church, but I can't say that it is a particular denomination, at least not by my experience 4)Are you confirmed? Let me answer this one using Scripture. "The Spirit bears witness with my spirit that I am a child of His Rom. 8:16 5)Do communicate with God in any particular way? Yes I communicate with God through prayer, and the Bible Scripture says "he who has an ear, let him hear." So God does desire to speak to us. 6)How often do you go to Church? Every Sunday 7)What beliefs do you hold that make you a Christian? I believe God's word contained in the Bible 8)What makes you different from a non-Christian? Since becoming a Christian, God has changed my desires, thoughts, interests, speech, etc. I am not the same person I was BC or Before Christ. I no longer swear, smoke, drink booze, become angry without cause, I no longer consider myself above others, and I have love for others. And a burden for the lost. 9)What do you think it means to be a disciple? To follow the teachings of Christ Jesus. 10)Do you consider yourself a disciple? A disciple yes, an Apostle no 11)Have you ever done anything against Christianity? Sure, I'm not perfect. 12) Are there any things you wouldn't do because you're a Christian? Absolutely; I WILL NOT go to the movie theaters and pay to hear and see the garbage that is on the big screen these days. God has called me to servanthood and stewardship, and the Lord has impressed upon my heart the importance of not giving to Hollywood that which He has given or support that unworthy and ungodly cause. But thats just me. Your welcome |

394 | What's the importance of Old Testament? | Gal 3:24 | New Creature | 40852
Greetings JCLT2 I think the following Scriptures will help you understand the importance of the Old Testament for us today. 1Cor. 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. the above verse means that all that happened to the Israelites during their 40 years wandering in the wilderness were written for those of us who are alive today, so that we might not make the same mistakes they became guilty of. It is easier to learn from others mistakes, instead of having to find out the hard way. Rom. 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. The things that were written aforetime refers to those things that were written in the Old Testament. It says here in Romans that what was written previously in the Old Testament was written for our learning. So in conclusion it would do us well to read and learn the examples of men and woman in the Old Testament and get a better understanding of the ways and purposes of God. I hope this helps you. |
