341 | bible reference to support remarrying | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 49940
You are correct The only Bibical grounds for divorce that I can find is reserved for adulterous circumstances. Concerning when one divorced can remarry the following Scripture seems to say, only upon death of ones spouse. To marry someone who is divorced while the spouse still lives makes both adulterers. 1 Cor. 7:27 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. 1 Cor. 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. |

343 | can you forefit salvation | Heb 6:4 | New Creature | 49751
Many say yes, and many say no. But what God's word says is what matters. Study the following verses Luke 8:13 and Mark 4:16-17 John 15:1-6 Rom. 11:13-22 (especially verses 21-22) 1 Tim. 4:1 Heb. 6:4-6 Heb. 10:26-29 2 Pet. 2:20-22 Rev. 2:4-5 |

Scripture does not say we are to ask for gifts of the Spirit, however it does say we are to covet them. 1 Cor. 12:31 But COVET earnestly THE BEST GIFTS: 1 Cor. 14:39 Wherefore, brethren, COVET to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. ___________________________________________ Covet 2206 zeloo (dzay-lo'-o) from 2205; TDNT - 2:882,297; v AV - zealously affect 2, more with envy 2, envy 1, be zealous 1, affect 1, desire 1, covet 1, covet earnestly 1, misc 2; 12 1) to burn with zeal 1a) to be heated or to boil with envy, hatred, anger 1a1) in a good sense, to be zealous in the pursuit of good 1b) to desire earnestly, pursue 1b1) to desire one earnestly, to strive after, busy one's self about him 1b2) to exert one's self for one (that he may not be torn from me) 1b3) to be the object of the zeal of others, to be zealously sought after 1c) to envy |

348 | MIXED MARRIAGES ? | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 49302
There is no Scripture that specifically speaks against marrying other races. What is Scriptural however is that believers shouldn't mix mariage with unbelievers. Believers should only marry believers. |

350 | when te sons of God came | Gen 6:4 | New Creature | 48641
"sons of God" in that text refers to believers. as you continue reading that verse you will see mentioned "the daughters of men" the "daughters of men" are the unbelieving unsaved. What was happening was that the believers were marrying unbelievers. God's intention is that believers marry believers, not unbelievers I personally believe many people try to make this portion of Scripture more difficult than God intended it to be, by complicating it. |

352 | Law or grace or both? | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 48637
Paul asked the following question concerning law and grace. Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. For the New Testamnet believer the law is etched upon the fleshly tables of his heart instead of upon stone tablets The law is the believers delight and desire and is not burdonsome to us. The law is only burdonsome to the unbelieving lawless people Those who live by grace delight to do His will and naturally obey the law, because they have GRACE MOTIVATED OBEDIENCE Titus 2:11 For THE GRACE OF GOD that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 TEACHING US THAT, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, WE SHOULD LIVE soberly, righteously, and GODLY, in this present world; |

354 | when do I spake in tounges | Acts | New Creature | 48611
Paul asked" 1 Cor. 12:30 do all speak with tongues? And of course the obivious answer to Pauls question is No. tounges in fact is the gift that is to be least desired of the gifts of the Spirit. Paul said I would that ye rather prophesied 1 Cor. 14:5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater [is] he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. 1 Cor. 14:1 desire spiritual [gifts], but rather that ye may prophesy. tounges is for self edification |

355 | Are we still under the Ten Commandments? | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 48609
Are we to still abide by the 10 commandments? Let me see: One of those commandments says: Thou shalt not kill (murder) Is it ok today to murder? I hope not! Another commandment says: Thou shalt not steal Is it ok today to steal? I don't think so! Another commandement says not to lie Is lying ok now? While it's rampant I think it is just as wrong today as it was when the 10 commandments were given Another commandment says not to covet Is coveting ok these days? Again I would have to say no! Should we put God first and love Him above all? I think the answer to that is also yes. Should believers honor the Sabbath day I can only speak for myself and say yes. Should we honor our mother and father? I would say yes Should we abide by the 10 commandments? I say yes we should But God gives us the desire to do so, as long as we continue in unbroken fellowship with Him. |

356 | 1 cor 10:5-6 what kind of warning | 1 Cor 10:5 | New Creature | 48605
The Bible is full of warnings to believers. 1 Cor 10 is just one example of warning. The text says: 1Cor. 10:6 Now these things were our examples, "our" in this text means believers. We are to observe what happened to the Israelites who came out of Egypt and wandered in the wilderness. God was testing them to see whether or not their faith was sincere, and whether or not they would become obedient to God. Their disobedience became their ruin. They lusted and provoked God to anger. They committed fornication The text also says again: 1 Cor. 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. we are to read in the Old Testament account of the Exodus and the 40 years of wandering in the wilderness and how only two people (a small remnant) of the hundreds of thousands who left Egypt ever entered the promise land. Those two were Joshua and Caleb. Today God still has a remnant of faithful sincere obedient followers What was written in 1 Cor. 10 is written so we don't make the same mistakes those who fell in the wilderness made Yes 1 Cor. 10 is a warning for believers |

357 | the barren branch never was a branch? | John 15:2 | New Creature | 47678
In John 15:2 we see mentioned two types of branches. 1.) those that do not bear fruit 2.) And those that bear fruit. (we see here that both branches were already “in him”. The only difference being the one did not draw any life from either the root or the vine. It did not get nourshiment which is essential to life) 15:2 We see that the branch that “beareth not fruit” he taketh away (meaning it is removed) 15:2 And we also see that the branch that beareth fruit he “purgeth” (prunes) so that it may bring forth more fruit. |

It is also use in John 1:29 of Christ as "the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world," and the same use of the word can be found in 1 Cor. 5:2 which reads: "And ye are puffed up, and have not rather morned, that he that has done this deed might be taken away from among you." (Vine's Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words) In John 15:2 the word away is used in connection with various verbs such as "take away" and is translated "away with" implying a forcible removal for the purpose of putting to death. 359 | will we die if we charge interest? | Deut 23:20 | New Creature | 47076
Basically a Christian brother or sister is not to charge interest to another Christian brother or sister. We are not to get rich or make a profit off of our brothers and sisters in the Lord. Banks are non-Christian organizations, and we cannot expect secular institutions to follow Bibical principles. The Bible principles are written as a guide to believers, not unbelievers. |
