321 | If we are saved by grace alone through f | Eph 2:8 | New Creature | 55449
Dear The Bible is Right - consider the following verse - Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. |

322 | who are the sons of God? | Gen 6:2 | New Creature | 55444
Dear teragram - My understanding of this verse is as follows. "the sons of God" in this verse are those who are the redeemed family of God. Believers, or those of the household of faith. "the daughters of men" refers to those from among the unbelieving pagan peoples, not of the household of those who have faith and believe. What was happening is believers were inter-marrying with unbelievers, and I think God intended that believers marry only other believers. Many pagan, unbelieving women that married Solomon eventually turned his heart away from the Lord. This is the danger of believers inter-marrying with unbelievers. Thats my thoughts on this verse God bless New Creature |

323 | Apostasy. Can one return to Christ? | Heb 6:4 | New Creature | 55355
justme, The Scripture that comes to mind concerning your question; "can a person return to grace and resume, or be saved again" is: For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO RENEW THEM AGAIN TO REPENTANCE, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God, and put Him to open shame. (NASB) (captialization mine for emphasis) I think the term Once Saved could fit this Scripture, rather than once saved, and then saved again, and again. Don't know if that helps or not. God Bless ya New Creature |

324 | Guilty of blood of others? | Acts 20:26 | New Creature | 55148
Reformer - isn't that sort of the same thing that God told Ezekiel? Ezek. 33:1 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman: 3 If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; 4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. 5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul. 6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take [any] person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand. 7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me. 8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked [man], thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked [man] shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. 9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. |

325 | Can a person push God too far?? | Luke | New Creature | 54948
His patience toward those who "keep on backsliding," is limited ( SEE - Jer. 15:6; Hosea 11:7) You keep on backsliding. So I will lay hands on you and destroy you; I can no longer show compassion. (Jer. 15:6) NIV Backslidding, or drifting from the faith (Heb.2:1) can also be Grieving (or saddening) the Holy Spirit (Eph. 4:30). Lukewarmness sets in, Rev 3:15-16… Continued backslidding results in the conscience becoming seared (1 Tim. 4:2) and the heart becoming caloused and hardened (Heb 3:13). Then we quench (1 Thess.5:19) (put out) the Holy Spirit's spark of spiritual life that He began within us. |

326 | What makes Christianity different | John 14:6 | New Creature | 54874
My initial thoughts concerning your question "What makes Christianity different from other religions? Don't they all lead to God?" 1. What makes Christianity different from other religions. A. Christianity is not a religion but a relationship with the Lord and Creator of the universe. All of the worlds religions try to work their way to God. 2. Don't all religions lead to God? A. No. There are many roads but only one correct path. (See Matthew 7:13-14) Jesus Himself said "I am the way" John 14:6 Jesus did not say I am a way, but THE way. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Salvation is only through Jesus Jesus alone is risen from the dead. (This also makes Christianity different than other religions) Mohammed, Buddha, Krisha, and all other religious leaders are still dead and in their graves. |

329 | Eternal Security is it possible? | 2 Tim 1:12 | New Creature | 54121
Dear Robert: I read your post with much interest, and would appreciate it if you would allow me to ask you one question in light of what you posted. Could you please tell me what the following verses mean, and to whom was it written? And is there a warning contained in this verse? And if so, to who? The verses are Rom. 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, [take heed] lest he also spare not thee. 22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in [his] goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. 330 | When does the Holy Spirit leave you ???? | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 53755
Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Grieve: 3076 lupeo (loo-peh'-o) from 3077; TDNT - 4:313,540; v AV - be sorrowful 6, grieve 6, make sorry 6, be sorry 3, sorrow 3, cause grief 1, be in heaviness 1; 26 1) to make sorrowful 2) to affect with sadness, cause grief, to throw into sorrow 3) to grieve, offend 4) to make one uneasy, cause him a scruple When we grieve the Holy Spirit by sinning, He is saddened, or offended. Sin in the believers life temporary removes the believer from fellowship with his Lord. Continual habitual sinning, also called willful sin,(Heb. 10:26) hardens the heart of the believer if persisted in. We need to confess our sins (1 John 1:9) 1 John 1:6 If we say that we have FELLOWSHIP with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have FELLOWSHIP one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John was written not to the unbeliever but to those who were already believers. The conditions for walking in the light, and having unbroken fellowship with Christ, is to confess any know sin in our lives, and then the blood of Jesus continually cleanses us from all sin. God bless |

332 | Why do people try to disprove baptism? | John 3:5 | New Creature | 53430
The problem as I see it with many professors of Christianity is that many think that they are born-again because they have subjected theirselves to water baptism. If subjecting oneself to water baptism makes one born again as some claim, then that would mean that salvation is by works. However the truth is that being born-again is from above. Before regeneration we were dead, and a dead person does not have any power to raise itself to life. The life giving power comes from above. In the Bible John said: " Mark 1:8 - I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. So even John the Baptist announced a baptism different and more important that his water baptism. Today many are trusting that they have been born from above because of something they did. We had no part in our physical birth, and we likewise play no role in our spiritual birth. There is a huge difference between baptism and birth. That is why I believe it is so important to debate this baptism issue. It is possible that many who profess to have born again truly have not. And if not, then they need to know, because without being born again you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. (see John 3:5-7) By this I am not trying to dimish the importance of water baptism, because it certainly is of utmost importance for the believer to be baptised. I don't believe in baptismal regeneration. A person does not get water baptized to become saved, he gets water baptized because he has become saved. It's an act of obedience. |

333 | God created satan, did he create evil ? | Is 45:7 | New Creature | 53428
Satan used his own God given free will to chose to rebel against God, and therefore is rightfully called the father of lies. John 8:44 Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. |

334 | Why did the Holy Spirit leave David? | Psalm | New Creature | 53427
In Isaiah 59:2 it says - But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear. David committed the sin of adultery with Bathsheba and then plotted to have Uriah, Bathshebas's husband sent to the front of battle, so as to die. I don't know what verse you are referring to when you say that the Holy Spirit left David. I don't believe the Holy Spirit ever completely left David. What I do think is that through sin, fellowship with God was broken. David was, as Isaiah said, separated from fellowship with God. Also if you read Psalm 51 you will read what David said. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin [is] ever before me. Ps 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done [this] evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, [and] be clear when thou judgest. Ps 51:7 ¶ Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; [that] the bones [which] thou hast broken may rejoice. 9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Ps 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. 12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me [with thy] free spirit. Ps 51:14 ¶ Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: David didn't say God had taken His Holy Spirit away from him. David pleaded that the Holy Spirit might not be taken from him. He momentarily lost the joy of his salvation through broken fellowship. But through repentance, remorse, and acknowledgement of his sin, their was restoration, and a renewed right spirit within him was again given. |

335 | is gambling a sin yes or no and why | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 53097
Dr. G. Campbell Morgan, in his book The Ten Commandments said, "Gambling is stealing." He wrote: "The whole habit of gambling is of the essence of theft...It is a means by which men come into possession of property which is a violation of the laws upon which property may be held. A man who gambles puts into his pocket money for which he has done no honest work; and by the very act he robs the man from whom he receives it and violates the law of love. The gambling fever is the cause of more petty larceny and wholesale fraud than any other form of sin. There is no more insidious evil sapping away the integrity and uprightness of the nation today than this lust for possession without toil, which lies at the root of all gambling. The gambler, whether he wear the purple, broadcloth, or corduroy, is a thief in the sight of God, and ought to be so in the sight of all honest men." Gambling is also the enemy of clear sport, corrupting and degrading every sport with which it becomes associated. Our government is at loss to know how to deal with inflation and unemployment but they know how to promote and encourage gambling. Gambling is, The hope of winning unearned money. Gambling is based on the desire to get something for nothing. Its distinctive principle is gain at the expense of another who equally desires to get something for nothing. it is the cultivation of risk to profit at the expense and loss of others. Often the gambler will cheat in order to win. Habakkuk 2:6: "Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his!" If a man earns, buys, or trades for something, he has a right to the article possessed; but in gambling, when a person wins he "increaseth that which is not his." Gambling men and women do not want to work. Government lotteries encourage people to go after gain without working for it. Ezekiel 22:12: "...Thou has greedily gained of they neighbours by extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord God. Behold, therefore I have smitten mine hand at they dishonest gain which thou has made." Gambling is a blight that destroys. It performs no useful purpose and is based on greed, dishonesty and corruption. Gambling is rooted in covetousness, because one desires to obtain the fruit of anothers hard labor and toils without having to work for it,and therefore breaks the Tenth Commandment which says: "Thou shalt not covet." A "covetous man...is an idolater" (Eph. 5:5). |

336 | dead bury the dead? | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 53094
Mt 8:19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air [have] nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay [his] head. 21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. The scribe which came to Jesus, said to Jesus: " suffer me first to go and bury my father." It has been said that the scribes father was not yet dead. The scribe was merely stating, let me first remain with my father until the day when he dies, so that I may bury him, then I will come and follow you. So this scribe was only making an excuse for not following Jesus, and attempting to post-pone obedience. Jesus said in other places: Mt 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and: Mark 10:29-30 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. Luke 14:26 If any [man] come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. (Jesus wasn't saying we should hate our relatives, but that we should not love them more that God. The Lord demands first place in our hearts) Concerning Jesus words "let the dead bury their dead" Here is the meaning: Let those who are physically alive, but remain spiritually dead bury those of theirs who die physically. It's not that the person wouldn't be buried. Those who are dead spiritually, but alive physically would see to his burial at the proper time. Hope this helps |

337 | English translation before the KJV? | 2 Tim 3:16 | New Creature | 52885
The story is told of four ministers discussing the pros and cons of various Bible translations and paraphrases. Eventually each stated which version, in his opinion, is the best. The first minister said he used the King James because the Old English style is beautiful and produces the most reverent picture of the Holy Scriptures. The second said he preferred the New American Standard Bible because he felt it comes nearer to the original Greek and Hebrew texts. The third minister said his favorite was the paraphrased Living Bible because his congregation was young, and it related to them in a practical way. All three men waited while the fourth minister sat silently. Finally he said, "I guess when it comes to translations and paraphrased editions of the Bible, I like my Dad's translation best. He put the Word of God into practice every day. It was the most convincing translation I've ever seen." . The best Bible for you is the one that you actually read and heed. |

338 | Mom died Angry with God | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 50255
It would be so easy for you to just give up and quit on God. But that is exactly what Satan would love to have you do. God can at times allow difficult circumstances to come into our lives. He desires that we do not become bitter or grumble when the difficult times come. It is especially at these trying times, we need to continue trusting in God, and looking to Him for guidance and direction. Continue praying for your boyfriend and for yourself as well. Don't give up on God, God never gives up on anyone EVER!!!! It is in these trying times that you both need God, like never before. God in His timing will help you both to understand. You need to prayerfully and faithfully wait upon Him and His timing. "Heavenly Father, when we long for life without trials and work without difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds, and diamonds are made under pressure.” (Jim Marshall Sr.) "God hath not promised, Skies always blue. Flower strewn pathways, all our lifes through. God hath not promised Sun without rain, joy without sorrow, peace without pain. But God hath promised, strength for the day. Rest for the labor, light for the way. Grace for all trials, help from above. Unfailing sympathy, undying love." Annie Johnson Flint |

339 | Scriptural Support Requested! | Rom 8:14 | New Creature | 50248
God truly can mold us and reshape us. He initially created us, and He can re-create us if we wants. He is the potter and we are the clay. We need to yield ourselves to His molding influences. He desires to continue the transformation work that He began within us. We are a work in progress. Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. "Mold me and make me, after Thy will. Thou art the potter, I am the clay. While I am WAITING, YIELDED, and still." " You are the potter, I am the clay, mold me and make me, this is what I pray. Change my heart oh God, make it ever true. Change my heart oh God may I be like You." |
