321 | do i have to worship loudly? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 124928
Just to let you know there are a wide variety of opinions on this subject: faith vs. works. Just insert these words into the Quick Search or the scriptures from James, Chapter 2 and you'll see. Remember each of us has to study God's Word for our own conclusion as God expects us to stand for ourselves on Judgment Day. Hank is an excellent Bible student but we're all just human and ONLY God's Judgment is absolutely perfect. Hope this helps in your study. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

322 | Can we recognize loved ones in heaven | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 124927
If I may interject at this point, I'd like to say that Norm HAS answered the question. The Bible is NOT particularly clear on this controversy. The scripture you've cited with the rich man Lazarus does seem to favor your position but it is only a parable. In seeming contrast are the scriptures from Norm which seem to say that we won't have our physical bodies in heaven. Just my opinion, but I'm thinking since the whole universe is going to go up in smoke according to Peter that Heaven is going to be a metaphysical place, that is spiritual where God's Being is going to be forever. We as christians will be there forever with him but we don't really have clear details on exactly what it's going to be like as we humans don't have any "reference points" for such a spiritual place. I think I'll wait until it happens and see what it's going to be like. This one thing I do know: it's going to be far more glorious and wonderful than anything we could possibly imagine. Blessings to you all. Country Girl |

323 | Bibical mean for LOVE, WISDOM AND LIGHT | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 124880
By no means would I take offense as I quite agree with you. But for serious Bible students, I think we would all agree, Ecclesiastes is much deeper than Proverbs. I'm thinking after restudying the book recently in class, that Solomon wrote this book after Proverbs, maybe even in the twilight years of his life. In some respects, it's a depressing book but if we look at it knowing all of what he went through, we can gain a lot of wisdom. Thanks for the supplement. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

324 | follow up on a new convert | Acts | Country Girl | 124879
I would have to beg to differ with you, dear friend. The Bible clearly teaches us to love one another, moreso than our own bodies. If we truly love our fellow christians, we'll will approach them occasionally as needed and see how they're doing. We're expected to act as a true brother and restore the erring with love and gentleness. There are many scriptures and many, many examples of this kind of close fellowship throughout the Bible, but hopefully you know this already. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

325 | Bibical mean for LOVE, WISDOM AND LIGHT | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 124875
Generally speaking, I would recommend 1 Cor 13 for the subject of love. For wisdom, go to Ecclesiastes and for light I would go to 1 John. After reading these and studying them together, a person should gain a good Biblical position on God and how He feels about the subject. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

327 | jehovahs witnesses | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 124798
I'm not quite certain but it SEEMS that you're saying you believe in the Deity of Christ and the fact of the Trinity, in contrast to most JWs. Can you make this clear for me and everyone else on the Forum? Are you indeed endorsing these facts above? I really look forward to a positive answer. Please let us know. Blessings to you. 329 | Question about nations of the world | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 124542
I'm wondering why this is so important to you. It shouldn't be important to christians at all, as we're all able to be children of God. To me, this kind of discussion just breeds disrepect and sometimes even prejudice. Hopefully you've got good motives for generating this question. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

331 | woman and Jesus in Matthew 15 | NT general Archive 1 | Country Girl | 124502
Matt 15:22 And a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is cruelly demon-possessed." Matt 15:23 But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, "Send her away, because she keeps shouting at us." Matt 15:24 But He answered and said, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Matt 15:25 But she came and began to bow down before Him, saying, "Lord, help me!" Matt 15:26 And He answered and said, "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." Matt 15:27 But she said, "Yes, Lord; but even the dogs feed on the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." Matt 15:28 Then Jesus said to her, "O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish." And her daughter was healed at once. I can only assume you're contrasting this rather interesting attitude from Jesus when most of the time, he was far more compassionate and merciful, especially to His fellow Jews. I can only say that Jesus knew the hearts of all people and He knew exactly what they needed most. In this case, apparently the woman needed to know her place in the world and she acknowledged that AND got what she was looking for. In contrast to this story is the rich young ruler who came to Jesus boasting of his devotion to God and following His guidance all his life. But when Jesus said "sell your possessions, come and follow me," once again Jesus knew exactly what this man needed but in this case, he didn't get what he was looking for...AND he was a Jew. What do you think of this interesting and rather challenging attitude of Jesus? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

334 | follow up on a new convert | Acts | Country Girl | 124496
Acts 15:36 After some days Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us return and visit the brethren in every city in which we proclaimed the word of the Lord, and see how they are." This is about the best scripture I can think of to show it's a good idea for christians to check up on their new converts to the Family of God. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

335 | How did Peter become hypocritical? | Acts 10:1 | Country Girl | 124454
I too am not sure exactly what you referring to. Are you referring to the story from Paul in Gal 2:11? I found some discussion on that subject from Rowdy and EdB. The initial question is on Post No 118158, which you insert into the Quick Search. If this isn't what you're looking, please explain and we can take a peak. Blessings to you. Country Girl. |

336 | Whats the laws purpose? | Romans | Country Girl | 124453
This is just an excerpt from Romans, Chapter 7 but I would recommend that you read the whole chapter as Paul does an excellent job of explaining this subject. Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, "YOU SHALL NOT COVET." 33 Rom 7:8 But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind; for apart from the Law sin is dead. 34 Rom 7:9 I was once alive apart from the Law; but when the commandment came, sin became alive and I died; 35 Rom 7:14 For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin. 36 Rom 7:16 But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good. The primary purpose of the law as I see it is to help us identify exactly what sin is and how repulsive it is to our God, read verse 7 again. Then we should be properly motivated to do whatever it takes to get it out of our lives. Of course, that's not possible, especially without the Lord's help. But whatever amount of sin we have in our lives, as long as we're His child, receiving His gift of salvation and staying within His Fellowship of Light as portrayed in 1 John we're in good shape to go to Heaven. 337 | Alleged changes in the NKJV | Ps 4:1 | Country Girl | 124447
I thought I indicated as much in my statement but you stated it much more succinctly than I did. Yes, very definitely I'm convinced as I stated in a previous post, we can believe whole-heartedly that we have ALL of what God wants us to know for eternity. Thanks for clearing that up and blessings to you. Country Girl |

338 | What God requires of us. Micah 6:8 | Micah | Country Girl | 124440
Mic 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God? I would say this is a good start, but don't you think there's a lot more to the question and answer but just these few lines? Seems like you've left out the whole NT. Would you care to elaborate a little more? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

339 | Alleged changes in the NKJV | Ps 4:1 | Country Girl | 124439
Just another example of the inferiority of the KJV (Yes, I know this is horrors to some of you but it's the truth.) You see, the translators in 1611 didn't want to lose their heads and King James didn't want to be immersed completely but he did want to be a "christian." The translators all knew the original Greek word "baptizo" had one single meaning and that is immersion. Their clever innovation is how we got the word "baptize." It's not a transliteration as it should have been. It was anglicized for King James sake. So you see, translators over the past two thousand years were also human. They too had to deal with the cold, harsh world of their own contemporaries. Remember, kings back then were "divinely apppointed" according to custom. So I would have to side with those folks who cling to the idea that THE original manuscripts actually written by the original authors have either been destroyed or there's no way to know for certain they actually wrote them, i.e. unknown authors. I think you'd have to agree, IF we had any of the original books/scrolls intact, they would have turned into objects of worship and our Lord certainly didn't want that. If you doubt this, just look at the tens of thousands of icons all over the world, especially throughout Mediteranean Europe. That leaves us with the conclusion that ALL the complete manuscripts, books and scrolls from the 2nd century on are merely copies of God's Word and are therefore subject to the ravages of time and the inherent errors of the copying process. Especially difficult in this process is the translating from one language to another, just talk to one of them; it truly is a very difficult job. I also conclude we can confidently say we really do have ALL of God's Word intact and completely saying what God wants to say to His creation. Blessings to you. Country Girl |
