261 | Some verses don't stand alone well | Is 3:21 | Country Girl | 126889
When I read your words, I can only remember the words of our Lord, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." Those words apply to ALL of us, as we were ALL represented there at the cross. Yes, of course the Jews were there but the rest of the world was well represented by the Romans, most especially Pilate who just wanted to be left alone to "wash his hands of the matter." Yes, I agree with you dear friend. "There but by the Grace of God, go I," as I too have served my time in the prison of selfishness. Only now in these last few years have I begun to truly pay back for all the wrongs I've perpetrated and "kicking against the goads." Blessings to you for your maturity. Country Girl |

262 | Some verses don't stand alone well | Is 3:21 | Country Girl | 126873
I don't post very many questions to the Forum for the same reason as Ancient's caution I just read. Some folks on the Forum don't seem to be very tolerant to others with a different opinion (from tradition) about God's Word. But I do like to look around for those posts with very little response and do what I can. I guess we're all smarting a little from all the grief and heartache meted out over the last couple of days. In this passage, Isaiah Chapter 3, it seems the prophet is forecasting the future of his beloved homeland and what a severe future it is. It seems downright scary. By all accounts from history, I understand Rome's destruction of Jeruselem was quite brutal and unmerciful just like the Lord warned. What do you think of this chapter? Could it be a warning to America? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

There are some very good articles covering a wide variety of subjects under the wide umbrella topic of evolution vs. Christianity. They are located at the website, apologetics.com. They're well documented and supported with highly educated christian scientists. Blessings to you all. Country Girl |

265 | Do you believe in being chosen? | Gen 2:9 | Country Girl | 126662
Of course you're correct in that God does not worry and isn't anxious about anything but I am convinced He does want all mankind to obey Him and thus come Home to Him in Heaven. But I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with you about predestination. If God has already predestened everyone into their respective places, Heaven or Hell, then there would be no real useful purpose to our lives or our attempts to carry out the Gospel message to the world. No, my friend there's just too much scripture and too many other main themes throughout the Bible in opposition to this rather weak position. But I do realize there are many folks who hold to it. I would just encourage you to keep studying on it and be open to all the rest of the Bible. I would emphasize yet again, most of God's Word is simple so that the vast majority of mankind can understand it and reach the goal God has intended for us and that is to become one of His. Your position on predestination is just too confusing and convoluted to believe it could come from the God and Father who had His Son come to earth and live such a simple, humble life and die such a simple but cruel death on a humble cross for a dying world. No our Lord, His Son died too horrible a death for this world for people who have already been condemned to Hell and have no chance for Heaven. It just doesn't make sense. I still pray God's blessings on you. Country Girl |

268 | God the Son as a confession of faith | Rom 9:5 | Country Girl | 126620
I believe very strongly in the Trinity or the Godhead. Although the word Trinity is not in the Bible, the concept is very clearly documented throughout His Word. So it's very difficult to describe or even understand the details of this arrangment. We know Them as God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Also in the same way we don't know the actual mechanics or the "how" details about Jesus being completely human and 100 percent God at the same time. We just know he was both. As with so many aspects and details about Christianity, there's going to be a bunch of questions that have to wait until after Judgment Day for authoritative answers. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

269 | Is it ever okay to judge others? | 1 Cor 5:12 | Country Girl | 126618
You've received many good responses but I'd like to throw mine in for your consideration. First of all, I would refer you to James. James 2:14 What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? James 2:17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. James 2:18 But someone may well say, "You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works." James 2:20 But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? James 2:22 You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected; James 2:24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. James 2:26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. So we see that we as christians having true faith in our Lord, we will be producing works to show that faith. Christ made this plain in his discussion about our being part of His vineyard. In order for us to maintain that connection to our Lord, we must produce fruit of our faith and not be cut off. So when we see our fellow christians having difficulty in this area, we should love them enough to talk to them and strive to assist them in being fruitful. If a person refuses in this effort to be fruitful, we shouldn't judge Him as we can't see into his mind or his conscience and know his actual motivation unless he tells us. But we can at least see his fruit or the lack thereof and assist him with love and concern for his soul. In the final analysis, we humans must be very careful in judging the producitivity or fruitfulness of fellow christians as shown in Jesus parable of those men with 5, 2 and 1 talent(s). Instead Jesus encourages us to allow the wheat and tares grow together and He will determine the genuine christian from the imitators. See Matt 13. Hope this helps and blessings to you. |

272 | Isn't jealousy bad? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 126573
Jealousy is most certainly a bad thing when one is talking about jealousy and humans (you and me). But when one turns to the subject of Jealousy and God, that's a whole different matter. Since He is the Creator and we are the created, He is completely entitled to all the Jealousy He would like to display. He bought us and paid for us with dear Son's blood. Now it's up to us to redeem ourselves and live a christian life and make it to Heaven. But as you've indicated, God is a Jealous God and will NOT tolerate sharing us with the Devil. "We're either for Him or against Him and for the Devil." God's Perfect sense of Justice demands this kind of Jealousy. Hope this helps your understanding and blessings to you. Country Girl |

273 | Country Girl: Scripture...or Opinion? | Gen 2:9 | Country Girl | 126571
I agree with you that our biggest priority on the Forum is to shine the light on God's Word as much as possible. But I also think it's OK to occasionally cast at least a flash light on other topics closely related as long as the discussion is Bible based in Spirit. Our Father in Heaven expects us to use our brains and the Spirit of His Word to figure out some tough answers to tough questions that are NOT clearly answered in the Bible, at least not easily found. Sometimes it seems our Lord left us some things for us to figure out in this manner with this kind of discussion SO THAT we could grow, mature AND come to a greater appreciation for one another. But it seems as I alluded to earlier with Theo-Minor, that instead of growing and appreciating one another, we see a lot of harsh put downs, name calling and a lot of immature and rash statements. I do hope someone will be inspired to look at all the posts over these last few weeks/months and encourage us all (including me) to grow up and start acting like we have a Father in Heaven watching us. I'm thinking right about now, He's ashamed of all of us. Blessings to you all. Country Girl |

274 | Am I wrong? | Matt 18:6 | Country Girl | 126551
I don't remember an actual example of this being done with names, places or scripture. All I can do is quote from God's word: Ex 22:16 "If a man entices a virgin who is not betrothed, and lies with her, he shall surely pay the bride-price for her to be his wife. 17If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money according to the bride-price of virgins. Sometimes it's difficult if not impossible to understand God's wisdom. The bottom line is "We just say Yessir." Blessings to you. |

I know at least just a tidbit of what you went through. I've seen the same kind of treatment before to others that have some new and innovative opinion. We don't have a good time on this Forum but then again Jesus warned us about this kind of persecution. I must admit, I too was aghast when I first saw it but at least we're in good company. I hope sometime in the future to see your posts again. Until then and beyond, I pray God's blessings on you. Country Girl |

276 | What does Genesis 3:24 mean? | Gen 3:24 | Country Girl | 126538
This verse 24 seems pretty clear. It is a result of God's attitude made plain in verse 22. Gen 3:22 Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever"-- Apparently, God didn't intend for man to live forever in his sinful state. He might have done so if he wasn't guilty of sin but we all know now that sin introduced death, pain and suffering into the world. Everything truly good in the world is a result from God, everything else is because of sin or the Devil. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

Theo-Minor, thanks for the kind words and support. I do hope you'll be able to come back to the Forum, maybe after some to re-group. I've enjoyed reading and responding to your posts. I'd like to think that Hank means well. Apparently, he's had a rough life in his relationship with God and other members of the faith. I really don't know but all of us wish him well. Hank, I've taken another look at most of the posts with your name associated with them over the past few months and it does seem you're just a little overly harsh with several well meaning people who have a different view from yours or maybe even the majority. I'd like to think that God is still interested in all of us, even those of us who have some different opinions about a few things. Along those lines, our Lord did say "to let the wheat and tares grow up together and they would be sorted out on Judgment Day." Paraphrased from Matt 13. I would like to encourage you to be a little more forgiving and open minded toward your fellow sojourner in this temporary and physical world. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

279 | Do you believe in being chosen? | Gen 2:9 | Country Girl | 126087
I've seen these scriptures before as I've studied this subject quite a bit. I noticed you didn't really address the points in my post. I was hoping to get your specific response to those points. Meanwhile, you may be interested in my response to your points and scriptures here. I've been taught the only way one can reconcile these scriptures and the other scriptures/examples I could offer is as follows. Our parents in one way or another have all pre-destined that we be successful in this life, stay out of prison and maybe grow up to be President of the USA or maybe something close to that. However, try as we might, most of us disappoint our parents and score somewhere quite a bit less than our own lofty goals and most especially those of parents. But that doesn't stop our parents who keep on hoping and praying that we'll succeed somehow. To this day, my parents keep after me, urging and prodding me to finish my degree. Now my spouse gets in on the act and urges me also. How can I lose? Well, I must admit I really should finish and probably will one of these days. So you see, our God and Father in Heaven has pre-destined a wonderful place for us to retire. He really hopes and wants all mankind to come Home to Him on Judgment Day. He has made definite plans to accommodate EVERYONE who will obey Him and comply with His Son's Last Will and Testament. It's really not all that different from our own parents here on earth. The big pivotal point in this discussion is on us. Which one will we choose? A life committed to Him on earth and then forever with Him? Or something less and thus waste our lives both here on earth and forever in Hell? My big question to you is...How do you reconcile all the scriptures you quoted in your post with all the rest of the Bible which clearly gives mankind a choice between these two lifestyles? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

280 | Do you believe in being chosen? | Gen 2:9 | Country Girl | 126082
I can only assume you're directing this question to me. Since I believe so strongly in our complete and total freedom as mentioned in my previous post, I really DO NOT believe that God or any One of the Godhead really seeks out any particular person. I do believe, however, that They are most willing and axious to be invited into our lives and They will assist us in living our christian lives if we'll pray that They do. In my opinion, God see us and our world in a very simple way; it's pretty much black and white for Him. Either we believe in Him or we don't. Either we believe in the Bible or we don't. Let's take this logic to its ultimate conclusion: If a person accepts the idea that God chooses those whom He determines can be or qualify to become a christian (or any variation thereof), then what's left for us to do but simply go to Heaven? Why the need for the rest of the Bible? If that was God's plan to select certain ones to come to Him in Heaven, then why so much emphasis from the Apostles on living a Godly life? God's already chosen and made up His mind. No, I'm afraid I see a lot more into our portion of this relationship. We must be found faithful, at least at the end of our lives, Rev 2:10. And it's not a good idea to "tempt fate" and try to live an ungodly life only to make it up to God in our last few months of life. Godliness or Christianity must become our lifestyle our attitude about life, our total submission of everything we are and everything we hope to be. I know and realize this begins to sounds like "works so we can earn our way to Heaven." But don't you see, although we must work out our salvation in fear and trembling, we must also recongnize our EXTREME need for the Grace and Mercy of God. That's paramount in this relationship. We can't take God's Love or His Grace and Mercy for granted. God paid too much with His own Son's blood to just give it away. But again it's just my opinion. What do you think? Blessings to you.
