3001 | Who will the heavenly rulers be ruling.. | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 13803
Hi Jen and welcome to the forum. The question of who will the saints of heaven rule over is a very difficult question to answer. I have asked it myself in this forum in relation to the Book of Revelation. The responses I got were less that helpful, but that is another story. Evidently there will be natural people living on the New Earth, around the New Jerusalem. People that did not die in Christ nor were raptured. Who they are, I can only guess. They can be people that were not killed in the tribulation and who did not take the mark of the beast. However this seems unlikely to me and raises another question. Where are they while God creates a new heaven and new earth? Another answer may be that God recreates Earth and repopulates it with people without the sin nature. In any case the answer is not forth coming from the Bible. Therefore neither I nor the JW should make a doctrine or a teaching about it. This is one of the things that JW do, they provide answers to some of the unanswered questions of the Bible. Unfortunately they do it in man’s wisdom rather than God’s wisdom and it does not stand up to the truth. This case is a good example there in nothing in the Bible spoken, implied or other wised hinted at that supports their position. The reason we don’t know the answer may be because God doesn’t want us to. Revelation 10:4 clearly shows us there was information John was given but was ordered not to reveal it. I can appreciate your efforts in dealing with this women but bear in mind she is being taught each week how to respond to you. She has had intensive training, learning the seemingly unanswered questions within the Bible and learning how to present them to a unsuspecting Christian. Do not let her cause you to question your faith. I pray and I ask you to pray that the Holy Spirit will protect you from any of the Jehovah Witness deception. Blessings to you Ed |

3002 | If God knows all,why create the universe | Deut 29:29 | EdB | 13797
I too have a problem with you userid. It makes me question your motive. Are you trying to say your as wise as a serpent? If so you may need to deal with pride. If your giving glory to the serpent you have a bigger problem. As to your question your last sentences speaks volumes. “The "Sunday School" answer to this question is that God created the universe for His glory. But isn't that the ultimate of selfishness to create a universe where some people would eternally suffer just for a beings own glory?” Aren’t you just a little bold to be talking about the creator of the universe this way? Is this a display of jealously? God created the universe for His purposes, and questioning why He did is what got the first serpent into trouble. Accept the Sunday School answer and worship God. |

3003 | One land mass? | Gen 1:9 | EdB | 13659
Many feel the earth divided during the days of Peleg in Gen 10:25. However I have heard the "experts" say this means the people divided as told in the story of the tower of Babel Genesis 11:8. However I find the wording in Gen 10:25 to be intriguing and open to the theory it is talking about the continents rather than people.
3004 | what had the lord | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 13402
Hi I think there is something missing from our question. The Lord has done everything for His people because He created them, and He loves them. John 3:16 |

3005 | Who are Hananiah, Mishael and Meshach? | Dan 1:7 | EdB | 13152
Steve actually it was Daniel Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah not Meshach. I suspect their heathen names were required and Daniel got into the habit of calling them by them, However he never thought of himself as Belteshzzar but rather as Daniel and therefore when he wrote he called himself by that name. While yours is a good question, I have one I find far more disturbing, why doesn't the church call the three Hebrew children by their Hebrew names. Ask any child in Sunday school and they can tell you story a Shadrack, Meshach and Abed-Nego. But ask them who was Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah and they are lost. |

3006 | Where did Jesus get His blood from | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 13033
Hi stpopoola, and welcome to the forum. Your obviously Muslim, why do you ask these questions? Is it because you have an honest yearning to know the truth or as an opportunity to spread Islamic teachings? As to where Jesus got his blood, from the same place every other baby gets there blood from the divisions that occur when fertile egg divides. Only God miraculously made that happen in Mary without sexual intercourse. As far as the blood carrying the sin I think this a misnomer it is the fleshly aspect of man that carries sin. Jesus was not created he was preexistent having always been with the Father. Only at this point in time he laid down his heavenly raiment and stepped through the womb of a virgin to walk on earth among man. You may not like to hear that since your told that can’t happen but if that can’t happen then your saying God is limited. Which is it? Is God, God or is He not? Jesus was both man and God and lived a perfect life. More importantly Jesus was the fulfillment of hundred’s of prophecies that foretold of his coming and Jesus was also the fulfillment of everything He said. See this may be hard for you to understand since your live in a religion filled with contradictions. Your not use to a religion that you can take at face value. Your religion says Jesus was a great prophet yet at the same time calls him a liar. Jesus clearly said there was one way to God and it was though Him (Jesus). Your religion says that Mohammed shows the way. Which is it? Is Mohammed the way and Jesus a liar or is Jesus a great prophet and told the truth and said He was the only way? Jesus’ coming was foretold and in each case he fulfilled the prophecy exactly. In the case of Mohammed his coming was also foretold and he fulfilled those prophecies exactly. In Jesus’ case it was prophesied that the Messiah would come and show the way to the Father. In Mohammed’s case it was prophesied that a false prophet would come and lead many astray. Unless God has placed in you a hunger for the truth I feel certain nothing I say will convince you what I said was true. However of this I am sure the split second you die you will know I didn’t lie to you, but rather your religion did. I pray you come to Jesus before you come to that awful realization. One more thing stpopoola, you keep mentioning your Christian friends. Muslims do not have Christian friends. Why do you pretend? What does the Quran say about people that don’t believe the Quran? Are they not infidels? What does the Quran say about infidels? If they can’t be converted they are to be eliminated. How can an infidel you are charged with destroying be your friend? More contradictions! |

3007 | How long do we wait before we call? | James 5:14 | EdB | 12838
If your a Catholic reading this you wait until death in eminent, since this is the passage they base their practice of 'last rites' on. :-) However if your like me you call for the elders to pray the minute you feel something coming on. Praise the Lord He heals my body.
3008 | Who was the son of tabeal | Is 7:6 | EdB | 12837
The son of Tabeal was apparently an Ephraimite in the army of Pekah the son of Remaliah, or a Syrian in the army of Rezin, when they went up to besiege Jerusalem in the reign of Ahaz. Isa. 7:6. The Aramaic form of the name favors the latter supposition. The plan was to place him on the throne of Judah thus breaking the line of David. The plan failed!
3009 | 2 Cor. 1:20 | Romans | EdB | 12714
Wdc That verse is saying all the promises in both the Old and New Testament made in relation to the Messiah are fulfilled in Christ Jesus. He is the Messiah! How could you turn that around to mean that all the promises in the Old Testament made to Israel are for the church today?
3010 | Which promises? | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 12638
Hi Joerick, you need to read context. If the context of the passage is addressing Israel or the Jews then you know the promise is for them, if the promise is general then you know the promise is for everyone. There is a line of thought called replacement theology, which wants to replace the word “Jew” or “Israel” with the word “church”. They mostly do it for the promises and seldom do it for the curses. This is an over simplification but I think you have the idea. However there is no Biblical basis to such. The bible contains two types of promises limited and general, limited promises made to a person, specific nations or for a special situations that we can’t claim because we don’t fit as that person, nations or situations. God promise to Abraham is a limited promise made only to Abraham and can not be claimed by anybody else. General promises do not specify a particular person, nation or situation these we can claim. Of these there are two additional classes. Conditional promises and unconditional promises. A conditional promise has as it name states a condition attached to it. John 3:16 is conditional in that you must believe in Jesus to receive eternal life. Unconditional promises again true to their name have no conditions. John 14:3 is unconditional where Jesus promises to return. Read the context and see if God is talking to everybody or to a particular individual, nation, or situation, then you will know. |

3011 | Gifts dead? Why? | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 12634
Hi mdkane88 and welcome to the forum. The biggest reason people say the gifts have ceased is in my opinion they are afraid of them. The Biblical answer many give is 1 Cor. 13:8-10 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. In this passage you will see tongues and prophecy are said to end when the perfect comes. To me that means when Jesus comes. However in 2 nd. century church in an attempt to minimize “Montanism” the Bishop of Rome (what the pope was called before he was called pope) declared that all special gifts ceased with the closing the cannon of scripture. Tertullian of Carthage was Montanism’s most famous convert. So you see the people most vocal about the gifts being dead are also the ones that say the Pope is false prophet yet they support his contention that the physical gifts of the Spirit have ceased. Confusing isn’t it? |

3012 | computers... | Revelation | EdB | 12632
There I don't know where you got that piece of information but it is wrong. All computer are binary, and most if not all computers use hexdecimal connotation. Computers basically work as a mass number of switches they are on or a they are off hence they are binary. Hexdecimal is base 16 numbering system that has four binary positions xxxx called a byte (not a bit) the number "one" would be 0001, the number 15 or hex “F” would be 1111. To make 16 you would have 0001 0000 using two bytes. Notice I can make any number just by turning one position on or off, 1111 1111 would be 255 or hex 255. Our numbering system is decimal 1-9 and there is octal 1-8 but that is a whole another story. |

3013 | Is our fate the same as animals? | Eccl 3:19 | EdB | 12245
Steve the writer of Eccles. Was moiling over life’s questions in verse you quoted he then asks a pertinent question in Eccles. 3:21 Who knows that the breath of man ascends upward and the breath of the beast descends downward to the earth? Later in Eccles. 12:7 “then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.” We see the answer. If you have an NASB Bible most have footnotes to make this connection. I and many others believe that while Eccles. 3:21 is stated as a question it contains truths (which the writer was aware of) that define the final destiny of man and animal. Man having a Spirit will return to the maker, however animals which have no spirit will simply cease to exist. |

3014 | Do you think this may be | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 12024
I liked what my sister Glory777 said and I agree. I would never say all cases of being slain in the spirit are faked. Also I would not say the ones that are faked are Satan's work, I believe flesh enters in here very much. I also think the human psychic plays a big part. I know one time I was at the altar in intense prayer I had my eyes shut and was lost in prayer with the Lord. Suddenly the Pastor laid his hands on my head and shouted something. I was so startled my knees just buckled and I went down. I don’t believe it had anything to do with being slain in the spirit I just dropped like a rock and once I was on the floor and since I was having such a good time with the Lord I just stayed there in prayer. I could have gotten up at any time and had I wanted I could have placed my attention on what was going on. But I felt so close to God I just stayed there and prayed. I believe my knees buckling was a normal reaction to the surprise, it was inborn reaction of escape. I never lost consciousness nor was I unable to resist. Everything I did after my knees buckled was conscious decision on my part. As to laughter again Glory777 is right on. We of the church should have joy, joy that overcomes all the gloom of the world. Unfortunately most of the time the church has sourer faces than the world. I know times I have been lost in prayer with God that I just and grinned like an idiot. He was showing me wondrous things that were exciting my spirit. Nothing world shattering nothing I would say I have to share with the others, God was just letting me enjoy Him and I was. Again I could have stopped and I was not calling attention to myself in anyway unless you noticed the silly grin on my face (as described by my loving wife). |

3016 | On what day was Jesus crucified? | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 11924
John There have been long and numerous discussions on this subject in the forum. Rather than start another thread search on '3 days' or 'day crucified' You should find "3 days and 3 nights and Sabbaths' and 'Was Jesus actually in the tomb 3 days?' Threads which should answer your questions or at least present all the varied opinions on the subject. |

3017 | believers "slain".... | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 11901
I don't think there are any. Your right the scriptures you listed above are the usual ones listed. To me it is not conclusive proof, also as I said in my last response to this question. In very instance when a God fearing man or woman came into the presence of the Lord they fell face forward prostrate at God's glory. Lev 9:24; Num 16:4, 16:22, 16:45, 20:6, 22:31; 1Sam 28:20; 1Kings 18:29; Ez. 9:8, 11:13, Matt 17:6; Luke 5:12; Rev 1:17, 22:8 In the "slain in the spirit' manifestation the people fall backwards, away from God's glory. I think in that is a important indication of what is taking place. Hope this helps |

3018 | Correlation or coincidence? | Ex 32:28 | EdB | 11452
I can find no connection other than they are opposites, the three thousand in Exodus were people that rejected God's word and were killed (died). The thousand in Acts 2:41 were three thousand that accepted God's word and entered eternal life (lived). I think to try to make anything more out of it would be wrong. Ed |

3019 | Where is Paradise of Luke 23:43? | Luke 16:19 | EdB | 11406
John Let me try to explain this. Before Jesus bought our freedom on the cross with His blood the righteous when they died went to paradise or Abraham bosom. Hence we see them there in the parable of Luke 16. When Jesus was talking to the thief on the cross Jesus said today you will be with me in paradise. After Jesus died he went to Abraham’s bosom and took the righteous and lead them to heaven. Ephes. 4:8 Therefore it says, "When He ascended on high, He led CAPTIVE A HOST OF CAPTIVES, And He gave gifts to men." So what he was telling the thief today you are going to be with Me. First we are going to make a stop in paradise and pick up everyone else then on to heaven. Let me assure you of one thing wherever Jesus is at is paradise! Be blessed and be a blessing |

3020 | Eggs for cash: Help! | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 11404
Eric33415, Hi and welcome to the forum. I was ready to give you a smart answer when I realized you were talking about your niece’s human eggs not her chicken eggs. I would have had egg on my face! In all seriousness that is due the situation let me say. You are not going to find a passage in the Bible that says this wrong. However our conscience tells us something isn’t right here. Your niece’s eggs are potential children, children are to be loved and nurtured not sold as commodities. Some will argue she is helping others that can’t have babies by donating an egg. My question is would she be this willing to donate if she were not getting paid? If she has a couple in mind and they can’t have a child of their own and your sister can give an egg and make it possible, it is a good idea on the surface. However I have seen women do this and then live in despair knowing their child is being raised by someone else. So there is always that potential. It could even be strong enough that she would feel the need to try and recover the baby and that would probably end up destroying everyone involved. So there is a lot of potential for disaster here. If she is just selling eggs because she can and wants the money then I would say she has a problem with money, respect for the human body, and respect for herself. God never intended Babies to be bought and sold no matter the form. Ed |
