241 | confused by Acts 2:34 | Phil 1:23 | CDBJ | 221871
Greetings MMBE, While waiting for Brad I could interject something that might help clear the air, if that’s OK? Man in his original state as created in Adam has a body, a soul, and a spirit. When Adam sinned his spirit died that very day, Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. What is being spoken of in Acts 2:29 and 34 is the bringing back to life the function of the BODY as in the resurrection, when a new eternal body designed to last forever will be issued. 1 Cor. 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. David’s body is still in the ground but his soul is with the lord. This is possible since Christ emptied Abraham’s bosom or the place of the departed dead; i.e. the ones who had trusted in God’s Messiah that was to come. Ephes. 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. Those that died in the Old Testament had to be kept there until their sins were completely removed by the finished work of Christ. Up until then their sins were only covered and waiting for the removal, by the perfect Lamb of God, that would take away the sin of the World, i.e. Jesus the appointed one. The spirit of man is that part of man that perceives the things of God and since we all die or are dead in the spirit from birth we can’t understand the things of God. 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. That’s why man, in order to see the things of heaven, must be born again. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. I hope this helps, CDBJ |

Greetings and welcome to the forum. You might want to try a comparison check with the following? Rev. 4:6-9 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. 7And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. 8And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. 9And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever, CDBJ |

You say that it shouldn’t matter, is that by your standards or the Lord’s? Do you agree with the following? 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: If you agree you are out of line, if you don’t agree "you" are out of touch! 244 | john 3'16 | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 221846
Greetings wejlly, Thank you for the testimony. Can you imagine what the believers, in Jesus, thought as they were going through the horrors of the dark days of World War II? I believe things are going to get so bad before the Lord’s return that even believers, so called, will fall away from their churches; but “are they of us, as John would say”. Paul informs us: 2 Thes. 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; I am convinced that the Lord will put off His return to allow that last loving soul to repent and trust in the finished works of Christ before he returns. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. The general train of thought is that the Lord will return soon, but “what if” He delays His coming and returns when things are so miserable that we can barely stand it along with all the persecution and testing? It’s easy to remain ready when things are going smooth but we are warned numerous times of a possible delay. Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Our condition might be so dire that the following could be true due to excessive persecution. Luke 17:22 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. This parable would certainly fit the model of our earnest prayer for deliverance in a time when the adversary could be having his way with the elect. Rev. 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. Luke 18:1-8 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 2Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? I hope that the faith of many won’t fail because they had been taught that they wouldn’t suffer such things because Paul says otherwise. 2 Thes. 1:4-10 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: 5Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: 6Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; 7And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. Have a great day and “remain steadfast”, CDBJ |

247 | will we be here for the tribulation | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 221741
Greetings jaharp101 and welcome to the forum. There are several trains of thought on that very question and they are all expounded on by very astute believers in Christ, of which I hope you are one with Christ within the fold! May I start by listing a few that I’m well acquainted with? There are preterits, pretribulation, Midtribulation, post tribulation, and prewrath. All of these different views expound on the timing of what is known as the period of great tribulation and when the believers in Jesus will be gathered together with Him in the air. I use to reside in the second of those mentioned but through comparing scripture with scripture I ended up in the latter, due to endless hours of studying in the Word. Those that hold to a particular point of view emphasize their own pet verses and neglect to use other verses even in view of the fact that they all reside in God’s word; kind of like selective functioning, if you will. One hasn’t found the actual truth of any Bible doctrine until all of the scripture on any given subject is used and there is no contradiction. Psalm 119:160 The sum of Thy word is truth, And every one of Thy righteous ordinances is everlasting. Emphasis in the following verse is placed on the word, ALL! 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Example, it’s like adding fractions. I use this illustration taken from, “The Rapture Question Answered plain and simple” by Robert Van Kampen which I would highly recommend if studying the timing of Christ’s return for His elect. One must find the common denominator, where all the verses fit, or they don’t have the right answer to the doctrine they desire to understand. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. I hope this helps and that you enjoy the forum as much as I have, CDBJ |

248 | In the beginning | Gen 1:1 | CDBJ | 221738
Greetings Beja, The whole crux of the difference in thesis resides in the exact usage of the Hebrew word “tohu wabbohu” found in Genesis 1:2. We know that God is perfect and He doesn’t create things that are imperfect, as tohu wabbohu implies. There is a marked contrast in the Hebrew between verse one and verse two, which is not implied in the English language, the sum of which has been deeply looked into by students of the languages at Dallas Theological Seminary and brought to the forefront in the book that I suggested. It sheds light on the ”hoax” of theistic evolution and at the same time answers the question of the prehistoric forms of the past and it all ties together without contradiction. CDBJ |

Greetings, You might want to check out the following: Job 38:4-7 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. 5Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? 6Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; 7When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? The angles sang for joy when God created the Earth so that puts a little different slant on the time of their creation from the way I see it. CDBJ |

Greetings, The answer is found in the original language of the Hebrew which if I would quote it you wouldn’t understand anyway. It would be easer on both of us if you would just call and have them send you a copy of the “FREE” booklet then you can read it, and it is broken down word for word and you can see it for yourself. I found it to be quite informative and it answered numerous questions that I could never find the answers to. I had to read it “several” times before it all came together. Here is the phone number (713) 621-3740) tell them you would like to have a copy of, Creation, Chaos, and Restoration ISBN 1-55764-012-2 CDBJ |

252 | Resurrection Day or easter ? | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 221689
Hi Justme, I agree with you 100 percent and the fact that we call it Easter makes me bilious to say the least!!! It should be the fulfillment of the feast of the firstfruits or FIRSTFRUITS. The feast of firstfruits were the “rehearsals” for what Jesus finally accomplished in reality! The larger harvest is yet to come when the wheat will be gathered, i.e. all born again believers in Jesus the Christ! CDBJ |

253 | In the beginning | Gen 1:1 | CDBJ | 221682
Greetings, God’s Word in its original form and language is inspired by God but there are numerous translations that have a tendency to mislead the intended meaning due to poor or incorrect translation into English. Example: Luke 21:22 (NEW LIVING TRANSLATION) For those will be days of God's vengeance, and the prophetic words of the Scriptures will be fulfilled. The Koine Greek word for God is THEOS and it isn’t even found in Luke 21:22 and there are many that believe this is a reference to the work of Satan in the later days that points to the following. Rev. 12:12 "For this reason, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time." CDBJ |

255 | why was Jesus born | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 221237
I believe the answer to your question resides in, Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. John 4:42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world. CDBJ |

256 | is it possible for Jesus to have sinned? | Heb 4:15 | CDBJ | 221186
Hi Brad, Great post! I’ve done some thinking on this subject with the following in mind from the Latin, “Not able to sin and able not to sin”. I think the zinger spells it out in the book of James. James 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. The word enticed, in the English, is from the Koine Greek word, DELEAZOMENOS, meaning to entice, as with a lure used in fishing. Our lust patters come to us from the old sin nature residing within our flesh or bodies. Since Jesus Christ didn’t have an old sin nature, due to the fact that He was not born from the seed of Adam, I classify the temptation in the wilderness as a “satanic fishing party” because Christ didn’t have any lust patterns therefore He didn’t fall for the bait. Matthew 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. Satan threw everything he had at Christ and the lures didn’t work: Namely, the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. Jesus used the offensive weapon, the sword of the Spirit, i.e. the Word of God to defeat the attacks, which shows us that we can do the same thing with the knowledge of Bible doctrine residing in our soul, combined with the filling of the Spirit. 1 Cor. 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape,------ that ye may be able to bear it. The function of the shield of faith and the Sward of the Spirit. My spin on it, CDBJ |

257 | ... | Phil 3:13 | CDBJ | 221126
Greetings, Can you back all of that up with chapter and verse from the Bible seeing that the “following is biblical” and factual? 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: The New Testament was originally written in Koine Greek which meant a common Greek that all Greek speaking people could understand. I speak a little English but I’ll be honest with you, I haven’t got a clue about what you have posted and how it remotely relates to the Bible!! I hate to appear dumb but could you please expatiate using Scripture as your basis? John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. CDBJ |

260 | What should I read first? | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 220905
Hi Mary Ann D and welcome to the forum. Just starting anywhere in the Bible and reading it is like opening up a math book to geometry and trying to figure out how to do it without even knowing addition. I would strongly recommend that you start in the New Testament in the book of John, which is the fourth book in the N.T. Before you try to read it pray and ask God to reveal the truth that it contains within its pages. After you read the Gospel of John then I would then go back to Matthew then Mark and Luke then read John again before proceeding on through the rest of the New Testament. One can’t understand the Old Testament without the knowledge of the New Testament, it just won’t make sense. God wants to revel His Son Jesus Christ to you so you can understand His precious Word. I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |
