302 | Gos Can Speak! | 1 Cor 12:3 | CDBJ | 219289
Hi John, Very interesting post but it appears that even the apostle Paul came to his wits end with the Corinthians according to Chapter 14 in 1 Cor. I think he finally realized that he was beating his head against a brick wall and that the Corinthian were going to be lead by their emotions instead of knowledge of Bible doctrine no matter what. 1 Cor. 14:36-38 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? 37If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. 38But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. One can only try for so long to point out truth, CDBJ |

303 | how I can Eat God's Words? | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 219266
Welcome to the forum. The verse in Jer. Jeremiah 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. This is literally the intake of God Word Scripture. The word in the Hebrew for eat is as follows from (STRONG’S) 'akal, Hebrew 398, Strong’s 'akal, aw-kal'; a primitive root; to eat (literal or figurative) at all, burn up, consume, devour (-er, up), dine, eat (-er, up), feed (with), food, freely, in...wise (-deed, plenty), (lay) meat, quite. Before this is accomplished, one must be reborn of the Spirit. Have you come to this point yet in your spiritual walk? Jesus said the following which ties into the verse in Jeremiah. Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. That’s the intake of God’s word on a daily basis in order to sustain the new birth that God gives to those that put all of their hope for eternal life in the one that God sent; Jesus Christ, God’s uniquely born Son. Have a great day and enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

306 | Correct Understanding of verses? | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 219203
Greetings, When one mentions the law with regards to the Bible, few fail to notice that the Law of the Old Testament was broken up into parts known as, Codex number one, Codex number two and Codex number three. The proceeding covered all of the areas of the following and it is all considered the Law. Moral code, Social code and the Ceremonial code. Excerpts from (bible.com) The Law of Moses Given to Israel The Mosaic Law is what we are most concerned about in relation to the New Testament believer. This consisted of 365 negative commands and 248 positive for a total of 613 commands. These may also be divided into three parts or sections (see below)—the moral, the social, and the ceremonial. As such, it covered every possible area of the life of Israel. It should be stressed that the moral principles embodied in the Mosaic Law given at Sinai were merely the codified expression of the eternal moral law of God as it was given to Israel to govern her life as a nation in order to experience God’s blessing under the Abrahamic covenant. For more on this aspect, see below. CDBJ |

307 | What is the Gift of God in Ephes, 2:8,9 | 1 Cor 12:9 | CDBJ | 219201
Hi John, The faith, that I suppose, you are referring to is found in, 1 Cor. 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; It is logical to assume that the “faith” spoken of here is a reference to a different faith then that spoken of by Paul in Ephes. 2:8 since the faith given as a gift, it not given to all but to some, or as Paul says it, to another. The gifts given in I Cor. 12 are disseminated by the Holy Spirit to those who have “already” come under the category of believer or sons, i.e. they have already exercised “saving faith” in Christ or they couldn’t receive the special gifts enumerated by Paul in I Cor. 12. 308 | What is the Gift of God in Ephes, 2:8,9 | Not Specified | CDBJ | 219190
Paul in writing Ephes. 2:8,9 uses in the formation of these verses what is called a parataxis. With this in mind what actually is the gift of God “according to Scripture”? Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. CDBJ |

311 | Question about Acts 2:38? | NT general | CDBJ | 219169
Greetings and welcome to the forum, Acts 2:38 trips up many folks, until they learn how to break down the verse. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. The key to this verse is in the Koine Greek of the New Testament with regards to the word REPENT i.e. METANOEO in the Greek. This is a compound word META and NOEO. Meta means to change and noeo is a derived of the word for mind or intellect. It means to have a change of mind about the person of Jesus Christ and put all of one’s faith in Him. This in essence is to believe the truth of the gospel message of God’s Son. When this is done, that individual is automatically sealed with the person of the Holy Spirit. Ephes. 1:13-14 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. The second confusing part of that verse is that some think that their sins are washed away by baptism because, (A) this deals with water and, (B) water gives the connotation of washing. The fact of the matter is the cleansing comes about because of the precious name of Jesus, God’s Son. Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Trusting in Jesus and calling out to God the Father in Jesus name: this is what removes the sin problem. I John 2:2 Jesus and the work He did is what satisfies the righteousness of God on our behalf, not the fact that we get baptized. I hope this helps, CDBJ |

312 | Scripture on God raised Jesus from dead | NT general | CDBJ | 219156
Greetings with more of the same, John 20:26-31 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. 27Then saith he to Thomas, reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. 30And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. Acts 9:1-9 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, 2And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. 3And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 4And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 5And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. 6And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. 7And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man. 8And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus. 9And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink. 313 | Scripture on God raised Jesus from dead | NT general | CDBJ | 219155
Greetings, You might find this helpful. Luke 24:13-35 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. 14And they talked together of all these things which had happened. 15And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. 16But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. 17And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? 18And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days? 19And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: 20And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him. 21But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done. 22Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; 23And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. 24And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. 25Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: 26Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? 27And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. 28And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further. 29But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them. 30And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. 31And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. 32And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? 33And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, 34Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. 35And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread. 1 Cor. 15:1-8 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. 314 | Assurance of salvation | Eph 1:7 | CDBJ | 219148
Greetings, There are many things that “well meaning” pastors have asked people to do in order to have salvation in Christ and when people do them they are literally just jumping through someone’s “psychological hoop”. Examples: Come forward, ask Jesus into your heart, say a specific prayer, give your heart to Jesus, yield to the calling, turn your life over to Christ, confess your sins to God, the list goes on and on. The best thing to do is to read what Scripture actually says not what some assume! Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. For starters: Why was the book of John written? John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. The book of John was written so that people might believe that Jesus is God’s appointed one, the very Son of God Himself, and that He personally came to Earth to pay the price that God demands for us to have eternal life. The word believe, through out the Bible, is what confuses most on their spiritual road to salvation. The English word for believe doesn’t even come close to what the word meant in the original language. In the English it means to give mental assent to something but in the Koine Greek, of the New Testament, is means to thoroughly have confidence and trust in something without faltering in ones trust of the object. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. One is saved by GRACE through the action of faith. Faith has no merit in and of it’s self, it demands an object! The object of faith for salvation is where the merit resides and that object “Must” be in the person of the one and only Son of God, Jesus Christ and what He accomplished on the cross. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Couple that verse with the following Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; The previous verse is accomplished when one puts “all of their hope for eternal life” in the Saviour that God provided, His uniquely born Son, Jesus Christ. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. The very moment one believes the gospel or good news that Jesus paid our price God the Holy Spirit seal us and makes us one of His own. Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Ephes. 1:12-13 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit actually enter into the new believer and reside in that person’s life from then on. John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Once a person has Christ in their life “through believing”, i.e. faith in Jesus Christ their eternal future is sealed. 1 John 5:10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. These are promise from God Himself and God can’t lie! They aren’t some assumed actions that one thinks they must do for eternal life, all that stuff is nothing more then works which will end in eternal condemnation. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. Have a great day, CDBJ |

Greetings, This portion of your post kind of made me chuckle, “If not, I would say you might better spend your witnessing time where satan is not in control.” In order for someone to do this they would have to be absent from the body and face to face with the Lord. Ephes. 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 2 Cor. 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. Ephes. 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 320 | Purposing alone is not enough | Dan 1:8 | CDBJ | 219062
Greetings, Concerning your post with emphasis on the following. “After purposing in your heart to make Jesus your Lord and Personal savior.” We cannot make Jesus anything, as it were: He is what He is! One can either except it or reject it; it is all a matter of fact, and the work that God has done from eternity past. One elects to fall in line with God’s plan or they suffer the consequence of the results. The daily intake of God’s Word and the application of the same is the only way to come out on top of the process when all is said and done. Have a great day, CDBJ |
