221 | Sacrificing his daughter? | Not Specified | Cyclist | 52185
Greetings Believers with me in God our Father who created all things in heaven and the earth and the seas and all that there is therein, and, in His Son Jesus Christ who gave Himself for the sins of the world, All praise and glory and honor be to God who loved us so much that He sent His only begotten Son to die in our place for our sins! I'm having difficulty finding a portion of scripure that records a man sacrificing his daughter to God. Some one had asked me about it and I cannot seem to find it. In addition, I may need some help in explaining this event so any comment you have would be helpful, I think it is in Deuteronomy. Any help? Thanks Your brother in the Lord Jesus, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Emmaus, I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever! I will sing hymns and songs of praise to my God in my heart the day long! Please forgive me for intruding in this discussion (debate). I'm sure that you've noticed from my previous postings that I am not very well educated. In fact, as I have posted previously to the Searcher, you will find the description of me in the following verse: 1 Cor 1:26 For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; In a previous descussion on the subject of water baptism you made some points that I thought were excellent, I had posted a question about the criminal on the cross who was not baptised in water yet Jesus said that he would be in paradise with Him. We may never have closeur(sp?) on this subject in the forum but it is always interesting when it comes up now and then. I still wonder though about the necessity of water baptism for salvation. One other example is: Matt 9:2 And they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, "Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven." 5 Matt 9:6 "But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--then He *said to the paralytic, "Get up, pick up your bed and go home." This man's sins were forgiven without water baptism. By the way, I believe that we ought to be baptised in water. I myself was baptised in a small lake. It was a wonderful experience! Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

224 | Can a person ever loose his salvation? | Hebrews | Cyclist | 51483
Brothers and Sisters, Blessed be the Lord our God forever more! Praise be to Jesus Christ to whom ALL POWER has been given in heaven and earth! Does anything in the scripture verses I've listed below relate to the discussion of "loss of salvation"? Note especially in vs 15 "but he himself will be saved." Would appreciate comments from anyone. 1 Cor 3:10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it. 1 Cor 3:11 For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 3:12 Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 1 Cor 3:13 each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work. 1 Cor 3:14 If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. 1 Cor 3:15 If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. 225 | What do you do as "saints" when you fall | 1 John 1:9 | Cyclist | 51393
Dear sufficient grace, All praise and glory and honor be to God our father! and, to Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, who thought not of Himself but sacrificed Himself for our sins! I, as well as many others, have been right where your at in your walk. Here are some steps I recomend: 1st. Believe and live by faith. Gal 3:11 Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, "THE RIGHTEOUS MAN SHALL LIVE BY FAITH." 2nd. Find a true and faithful (stronger) believer. some one who walks after the spirit and not the flesh. Rom 15:1 Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves. 3rd. Confess your sin (fault) to them. James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. 4th. Jesus takes care of it. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I too will pray. Your brother in Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

228 | What prophet wept over another mans face | 2 Kin 13:14 | Cyclist | 51144
angelface, Cyclist here! All praise and glory and honor be to God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ who died for our sins! Praise Him forever more! Do one of these verses contain what you are searching for? (KJV) 2 Kings 8:10,11,12 10And Elisha said to him, "Go, say to him, "You shall certainly recover.' However the LORD has shown me that he will really die." 11Then he set his countenance in a stare until he was ashamed; and the man of God wept. 12And Hazael said, "Why is my lord weeping?" He answered, "Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel: Their strongholds you will set on fire, and their young men you will kill with the sword; and you will dash their children, and rip open their women with child." (KJV) 2 Kings 13:14 Elisha had become sick with the illness of which he would die. Then Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over his face, and said, "O my father, my father, the chariots of Israel and their horsemen!" 230 | john gill, "church"? | Hebrews | Cyclist | 48691
john gill, Cyclist here! Let me start this question by explaining to you that I start and end each post with praise to our Heavenly Father. Second, I absolutley, positively do not ask any questions with the purpose of challanging any one, I simply am eager to learn. So here goes. I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever! I will praise my God from the time I get up in the morning until the time I fall asleep at night! Blessed be the name of the Lord! I didn't see the word/phrase "church" used in the old testament one time. Did they have a different word/phrase for it? or, Did they not join together weekly to worship? Did the "church" gets it's name in the new testament? I know that Jesus talked about His church of which all of us who believe in Him and follow His commandments are a part of. Are there any scriptures that you know of, old or new testament, that directs/commands us to go to a building that is called a church? Is the answer I seek to the last question present in the scripture verses below? Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; Heb 10:24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, Heb 10:25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. As always I appreciate input from anyone on the forum. Your brother in Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

232 | BongGritty, Heb 11:4? | Gen 4:5 | Cyclist | 47874
BongoGritty, The Lord is my rock and my salvation! In Him will I put my trust! I will praise Him in song and with a lively heart because He has blessed me with both! I will praise the God of my salvation! I have been kept very busy during the week so forgive me for the delayed response. You write "Your answer is in Heb 11:4." Your answer was to the original question "Why was Cain's offering not acceptable?" I did not see the answer in this scripture. My opinion only, and please accept it as that, for I am far from an "expert", is that Cain was disobedient, in otherwords, He did not offer to the Lord that which was commanded. I interpret this, again my opinion only, as Cain either being to lazy to dress an animal for offering, or, that his offering was motivated by pride, you know, something like, "Look at what I have done with my own hands. I will offer this to the Lord because I produced it myself and am proud of it." Are there any other scpriptures that give an answer to the original question? As always, I would accept and appreciate answers from anyone else on the forum as well, whether it be scripture referenced or interpretion. In Christ Jesus our Lord, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

233 | Cyclist, Did your church obey 1 Cor14:27 | Bible general Archive 1 | Cyclist | 47872
Dear Searcher, The Lord our God is blessed forever! I praise my God for His goodness and for His loving kindness! I praise Him for His mercy that endures forever! I hope your week went well. As promised I wanted to get back with you on the questions that you posted for me. 2. No I am not aware of this fact. Thank you for giving me this information. I pray to God that I will never be used by the enemy in estatic speech. What does "estatic" mean? 3. My interpretaion experience was like this: During a service we were singing songs to the Lord. After a particular song the entire congregation was caught up in praise to God. The praise continued for several minutes. There were many people, at least three, speaking in tounges. Then everything became very quite. I then quoted the following scripture (I had not memorized these verses prior to this): Rom 8:5 and 9 "For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you" So it was edification and not profecy. 4. Point taken. I am afraid that you will not find me very much of a challenge as an expert. You will find the very description of me in the following scripture: 1 Cor 1:26 For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; Have enjoyed this exchange with you Searcher. I am truely persuaded that you are a gift to this forum, by that I mean, someone like yourself is needed here to keep things in line with the word of God, and, to keep the enemy from fooling us. This is why I am thankful for you! Please keep up the great searching! God bless you, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

235 | Cyclist, 4 questions on tongues, plus 1 | Bible general Archive 1 | Cyclist | 47085
Dear Searcher, As long as I have breath I shall praise the Lord! I will praise Him for His goodness! I will praise Him for His unconditional Love! I will praise Him for his mercies! I will praise the Lord! I am glad and praise God that these questions have been presented to me from you. Here are my answers: 1. OK 2. I did not know that and Why are you asking me? 3. Again, what is the reason for this question? 4. I do not understand this question. Would you ask it in more detail? 5. Forgive me forum, I used the word "profecying". It should have been "edification". Searcher, As I stated before, I am glad and praise God that these questions have been presented to me from you for two reasons. 1. If I have posted something that is misleading to others, or, If I have been fooled by a spirit that is not of God, I will accept correction and be wiser. 2. I don't think, in fact I know, that I have posted nothing in the past that has been worthy of your response to it. With all sincerity, THANK YOU! Finally dear Searcher, Please do the best that you can to give me proper guidance in this or any other subject where I need it. Please dear Searcher keep in mind that it is not nessecary to "put me on the ropes" to get me to accept correction. I have always prayed to God for a teachable spirit. Thanks again for posting these questions! I love you in Searcher! Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

236 | Why was Cain's offering not acceptable? | Gen 4:5 | Cyclist | 47050
Greetings ploon! Welcome to the forum! Most of all though, Welcome to the family of God! I am Cyclist. With my whole heart will I bless the Lord! Bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me! Bless His Holy Name! This is an excellent question. I've pondered this myself before as have many. I, however, could find no scriptural cross references for this verse. There are others on this forum that have done a lot more studying and searching than I have. Maybe they will provide a better answer. I've concluded the following: Obviously there was a long period of time between verses 2 and 3. At that time God talked directly to Adam and Eve. As you read the Bible further you will see that God instructed His people to offer up animal sacrifices to Him. I believe that God had instructed Adam and Eve and their children to bring to Him offerings of animals. I also believe that, since there was this period of time between vs 2 and 3, that Cain made offerings in accordance with God's commandments before this one. It may be that Cain thought that he could get one over on God. It may be that since Cain was a tiller of the ground that he would've had to hunt an animal for the offering and was being lazy. After all, the Word of God does say that Cain did sin. Sinning is disodeying God's commandments. Gen 4:1 - 7 are posted below. Hope this helps, only what I believe though. Please let me know if you find a better answer based on scripture. Your brother in Christ Jesus, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! Gen 4:1 Now the man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain, and she said, "I have gotten a manchild with the help of the LORD." Gen 4:2 Again, she gave birth to his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of flocks, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. Gen 4:3 So it came about in the course of time that Cain brought an offering to the LORD of the fruit of the ground. Gen 4:4 Abel, on his part also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions. And the LORD had regard for Abel and for his offering; Gen 4:5 but for Cain and for his offering He had no regard. So Cain became very angry and his countenance fell. Gen 4:6 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? Gen 4:7 "If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it." |

237 | what does dead from sin really mean | NT general Archive 1 | Cyclist | 47041
Dear butterflyangel, Cyclist here! All glory and honor and praise be to God our Father and to His Son Jesus Christ who thought not of Himself but died for our sins! Praise be to God forever more! You write "do you think it is saying when we sin, we are free from it because we are saved and jesus forgives us. or that we are dead from sin because we have stopped the sin we can stop this instance....." Answer - What we think will not work, only the Word of God will provide the right answers. You also write "basically i'm trying to establish if i sin, well knowing that i'm sinning and i then feel convicted, but know i may do it again, is that directing me toward hell." Answer - Heb 10:26 For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, Heb 10:27 but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. 1 John 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. 1 John 2:3 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. 1 John 2:4 The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 1 John 2:5 but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: 1 John 2:6 the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. 2 Cor 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, 2 Cor 10:4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 2 Cor 10:5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, butterflyangel, take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Your brother in Christ and in His love, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

238 | Is speaking in tongues for today? | Bible general Archive 1 | Cyclist | 47034
Brother John Reformed, I shall praise my God when I arise in the morning! I will still be praising my God when lay down to sleep! I will praise my God from my heart where Jesus dwelleth! Blessing and praise and glory and honor be to God our Father! and to His most Wonderful and Holy Son Jesus Christ! Praise Him! Praise Him! Haven't exchanged posts with you in a while brother. How is the new Grandbaby?!?! I to was involved with penticostal churchs for about 12 years. I witnessed profecying (spelling?) in tounges with interpretations. Both profecying and interpretation came through me as well. I still do speak in tounges sometimes but it is always when I am alone with my God. You raised an interesting question. My spiritual mother, the woman who lead me to Jesus, spoke in tounges in the factory where I worked, whenever and wherever! Needless to say she was feared by most others, and, very much respected by all! Everyone knew that if they had a conversation with her, they where going to hear about Jesus Christ! I love her so much! You did raise a very interesting question: "If tongues are meant as a witness to unbelievers why is'nt it occuring today?" I am anxcious to see some responses to this. Always, your brother in Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |
