183 | What does "In the name of Jesus" mean? | John 14:14 | Cyclist | 57227
Kalos, This is a continued from my prior posting. I was at my daughter's home and had to leave before I expected to, so, I did not get to complete it. I have read postings in this forum that say that you do not have to be in any particular place and/or be in any particular position to pray to the Lord our God. This I agree with. I recieved Jesus Christ into my life while behind the steering wheel of a car, driving on a country road. In addition, I talk with the Lord all day long. I seek Him in everything that I do, and, I do not always say "In the name of Jesus, Amen". I know without a doubt that the Lord Jesus is with me 24/7, and, I know that He is listening to me always. He is my friend, may counselor, my Savior, my everything. So much so that every thought is challenged, and, brought under the obedience of Christ. I love Him so much! I have also read in some postings, which, again, I agree with, that say that talking with the Father is like talking with our "Dad" or "Daddy". I can remember as a boy talking with my dad about anything and everything. So it is with my heavenly father. Sometimes though, when I became a young man, I needed to be in a certain place, sitting face to face, with my dad to discuss serious issues, issues that were of great importance to me. This is the same with my heavenly father. I actually get on my knees before Him and lift my hands to Him, every morning. The hour is late, for me anyway, and I am simply rambling, forgive me. Again, I appreciate the article and your postings In Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

184 | What does "In the name of Jesus" mean? | John 14:14 | Cyclist | 57224
Kalos, I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever! I will keep a song of praise to the Lord my God in my heart the day long! I will sing to the Lord! Sorry for the delay in getting back with you. I did read the entire article. My questions still stand. These are the same questions but maybe not the exact wording as in my prior posting. Is this article inspired by revelation, or, the Spirit of the living God, or, is it man's wisdom? What about my prayers, and the prayers of countless others who ended their prayers "In the name of Jesus, Amen." and had prayer answered? Perhaps these are questions just for me, and, I may need to just discuss it with the Lord. I did find some scripture where the name of Jesus was used by the wrong people, in the wrong spirit. It is below. Blessings to you, and, thank you for taking time to respond to my postings. Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! Acts 19:13 But also some of the Jewish exorcists, who went from place to place, attempted to name over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, "I adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches." Acts 19:14 Seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. Acts 19:15 And the evil spirit answered and said to them, "I recognize Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?" Acts 19:16 And the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaped on them and subdued all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. Acts 19:17 This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived in Ephesus; and fear fell upon them all and the name of the Lord Jesus was being magnified. |

Kalos, Praise be to the Lord our God for the great things He does for us! Forgive me, I was a too hasty in responding to your post. I have been wanting to study this particular portion of scripture but have not had (taken) the time needed to do it. I will read the artcile. 187 | What does "In the name of Jesus" mean? | John 14:14 | Cyclist | 56976
Hank, Praise the Lord! Praise our God, for He is mighty! Prasie our God, for He is merciful! Prasie our God, For He is loving and kind! Praise our God! It doesn't matter who get's the credit, the Lord our God I hope, for the posting you submitted on 7/30/02 at 1:48 AM. It is one of the most wonderful writings on insights to prayer I have ever seen! Thank you for being awake at 1:48 AM to post it. You are a blessing! Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

188 | What does "In the name of Jesus" mean? | John 14:14 | Cyclist | 56973
Kalos, From the rising of the sun to it's setting, I will praise the Lord! I will always be thankful to my God for delivering me from a life that was sending me to eternal damnation! Praise be to you Lord Jesus for dying for my sins! Kalos, I am somewhat of a fool to worldly wisdom, and, display a certain level of immaturity, as a Christian, in most of my postings. I am thankful to God for the wisdom He has graciously given to me when needed. I must say that in my "narrow mind" that I am somewhat confused by your posting on John 14:14. In fact, I feel somewhat "flogged" because I end most of my prayers by saying "In the name of Jesus, Amen." I usually end them this way though: "In the name of Jesus Christ, your only begotten Son, who died for my sins and the sins of the world, blessed be His name forever." You write: 'Ending prayers with that phrase might do nothing whatsoever to the efficacy of your prayer. I even submit that it might be hurting your prayer, depending on what you mean by the phrase.' It appears that you were quoting someone, were you? This part of the post hurts a little. Is this, or anything else in your posting, inspired by revelation or the Spirit of the living God, or, is it man's wisdom? What about my prayers, and the prayers of countless others who ended their prayers "In the name of Jesus, Amen." and had prayer answered? What about these events in the New Testament where "In Jesus name" was spoken? Acts 3:6; 4:10; 18:16; 19:5; 1 Cor 1:10; 1 Cor 5:4; 2 Thes 3:6. Although I have learned much from postings by you, and, have been encouraged by them as well, I was, and, am sad, a little confused, and, as I wrote before, feel as though I have been "flogged" for ending prayers "In Jesus name, Amen." Are these postings of the spirit of edification? Are they of the spirit of God? Are they "In the name of Jesus"? I really enjoyed Hank's posting on "The Lord's prayer". Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

190 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | 1 Pet 3:21 | Cyclist | 56343
flowerforlife, Praise to the Lord my God shall continually be in my heart! I will make a joyous noise to th Lord! I will praise the Lord! Welcome to the forum! The way I start my postings really has nothing to do with the subject of it, I just always like to start and end my postings with praises to God. I may be a little confused, and, usually am very easily, just ask my wife, but, it appears that your post on the subject of baptism is linked to a queation asked on 4/4/01. Have you done a "quick search", upper right of this page, on this subject? If you haven't, just type in "baptism" or "baptised", and then, I hope you enjoy reading, for this subject has been discussed, debated, and argued several times. Again, welcome! Mommapds, I will Sing to my GOD, I will sing praises to Him, and, tell of all His wonders! Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised! You write: (My support for this is based upon Jesus' words in Matthew 10:37 "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.") Would you please explain this verse in a little more detail, or, give an example of lovings one's father or mother, son or daughter more than Jesus. Jushafreak, Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised! I will Shout joyfully to the LORD! I will praise Him for His loving kindness! I will praise Him for His mercies! I will praise and uplift the LORD my GOD! Scriptural facts are what you were/are seeking on this subject. From your postings I am convinced that you know scripture, and, that you know how to search scripture. In fact, I am convinced that you know so much about scripture that you are probably capable of winning any debate or argument on this subject, and, maybe other subjects as well. Consider this, and, I will do my best to keep emotion out of it. If you read one my postings in this thread you know that I am an ex-user and an ex-drug dealer. The fact is this; pot has the similar "buzz" effect and altering of thoughts and imagination as alcohol. Just as alcohol leads to drunkeness, so does pot smoking. Having first hand experience with this I will not be convinced otherwise. It is with sorrow that I post the following scripture. Yes it is with emotion that I post it, none the less, it is scriptural fact, that is what you seek. 1 Cor 5:11 But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler--not even to eat with such a one. Not that I am anyone. You do not know me nor I you. I am not an elder to this forum nor am I anyone in authority, just a Christian, but, if you continue in your drunkeness, your postings are not worthy of reading or response by me, but, again, I am nothing. I love you in Christ Jeshuafreak. Submitted in the boldness of the spirit of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Blessed be His name forever, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! Norrie, I will rejoice in the Lord continually, for he has made me glad! I will rejoice in the Lord, for He loved me enough to continue to call me even when I rejected His calling! I will rejoice in the Lord always! My dear, dear sister, I am taking liberty here, on the forum, to share with you my salvation experience only because this thread is not appearing on the home page. Four things before I start; 1) This is my own experience with the Lord and it should not be assumed that the Lord will deal with anyone else in the same manner, 2) When reading this posting it should not be assumed that I am claiming to belong to or am promoting any particular denomination or doctrine, 3) To my understanding, and this is my opinion, it is important when posting to this forum that one needs to include a scripture reference(s), I may or may not in this posting, and, 4) Please bear with me. I have spent most all of my saved life in the KJV of the bible and my lanquage may reflect that, if need be, I apologize. This salvation of David, so I am called on earth, was like this. When I was a young man of 17 I was, as you know already, into drugs, alcohol (1/2 to 1 pint of vodka daily), heavy rock and roll music, and fornication. I was working in a factory driving a fork lift. Driving a forklift high on pot and drunk! I hit two people and was moved to driving the forklift in the warehouse (There was no pedestrian traffic there). God was so good and patient with me! Thank you so much Father! Jesus Christ began to call me. By the way, there was a woman that worked in that plant, who I consider my spiritual mother, that spoke to me of Jesus. Anyway, when driving alone in the warehouse I always had this feeling of someone, not something, but someone being there with me, no matter where I went. One night I had a dream of being chased in a city street by the police with flashlights. In the dream, I ran into a theater. In the center of the theater was a square opening so I jumped in to hide from the police. I found myself hanging on to a railing, and, there was no bottom! I was hanging on for life! There was just pitch black darness below me. I looked up, A light was being shined in my face. But wait! This was not the police! The light was so bright that it blinded me! What is this! The dream ended. Then, being a lover of music, a song came on the radio, it was in the top ten at that time, and, to me, and, probable me only, had a message from Jesus in it. Each time I heard the song I could here Jesus' voice in my heart. "What's happening to me!" I said to myself at that time. This someone would not leave me alone! Jesus is talking to me music I listen to, speaking to me all of the time when I'm awake, and, even in my dreams! I quit my job. But, my mother had been woking there at that time and talked with a man who I respected vey much, and, he talked with me so I came back to my job. I did move to a different department, not driving a forklift, where I would have to converse with people all of the time so I wouldn't have to deal with Jesus' voice. About 6 months or so after that, I can't remember right now, I met the woman who became my wife. She had two daughters from a previous marriage. I decided that it was time to settle down, after all I had children to take care of now. I became a supervisor in that same factory, and, sometimes to relieve stress I would take the country roads home. Guess who started calling me again when I was driving home alone, no other vehicles around. Jesus Christ called me into His life and I accepted on a beautiful country road. It was wonderful! I'm telling you the truth when I say that I had absolutly no desire for drugs, alcohol, sex, etc... from that point on. I LOVED everyone I met from that point on! My eyes were suddenly opened! Everything looked brighter! I couldn't wait to get up in the morning so that I could spend time learning more about Jesus! I couldn't wait to love someone! Well, that's it Norrie. Sorry for the long post. I love the Lord Jesus Christ so much! How could I not! How can I live any longer in sin! In the love of our Savior and Lord Jesus who thought not of Himself but died for the sins of the world, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

198 | question to smoke pot or not | Gen 1:12 | Cyclist | 54873
Norrie, I will praise my God from the rising of the sun to it's setting! I will always be thankful Jesus who died for me and to my Heavenly Father because He loved me enough to pull me from that life! Blessed be His name forever more! I will pray for your brother, and, for you because I know how hard it is to see a member of your family with an addiction and physically abused. Just to share my experience with deliverance. You know, of course, I hope anyway, that I was delivered by Jesus, and, so were some others that I knew then, two I know of for sure. In fact, God used me in both cases. Thank you Father! There are, however, many of those that I was friends/aquainted with that were either never delivered (still doing it or dead)or simply replaced it with another addiction. By another addiction I mean, alcohol, excessive eating, gambling, working excessive hours, a hobby that takes alot of time away from family,etc...... Of course, these are better than the drug addiction, or are they? Only Jesus Christ can provide true deliverance. You know the scriptures Norrie. Here are just two that come to mind right away. John 4:14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." John 8:31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; John 8:32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." Hope this helps Norrie. Please feel free to keep me updated. In Him, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Dear elders in Christ, and, new Christians, and, those of you that are visiting this forum and may not know Jesus Christ as savior, I must say that this thread about smoking pot brings tears to my eyes, not because of the content of the postings, but, because of the subject itself. Please allow me a little liberty here if you will. I am an ex-street gang member, pot smoker, acid user, crack user, and other drugs that I do not even remember. In addition I am an ex-drug dealer. Please, please, please do not take this matter of pot smoking lightly! I must apoligize because I have not read every posting in this thread, but, I have seen some commentary that says, and this is not the exact wording, that smoking pot is "OK", or, "With proper use is not a problem", and, "There are bad experiences and good experiences with smoking pot". It is with a sorrowful heart and tears that I share the following with you because the old man is dead forever, but, I am compelled to post this. I have seen, as well as experienced, both good and bad effects of pot. I have smoked it, eaten it, and made hashish from it. I've been to the hospital with people who have smoked it. I have witnessed brutal beatings of people as a result of pot smoking parties. Orgies are a result of pot smoking. I have seen, and it is with many tears that I write this my friends, little children go uncared for to the point of unchanged diapers for days, unfed, naked, left alone, and "high" from pot being smoked in the same room. When high, the children were disoriented, falling off of furniture at times because they could not sit upright, and not in there right mind. I'm sorry, I cannot go on friends, tears have turned to weeping. There is more though, more that I do not want to remember. Those of you that are Christians and desire to smoke pot please see the following from the KJV. I know what pot can do with the imagination. 2 Corinthians 10 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. Thank you my Lord and my God and my Savior for loving me enough to pull out of that life! In the Love of Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |
