161 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | Cyclist | 60652
Dear Brother John, I will make a joyful noise to the Lord my God! In my heart I am leaping and dancing with joy the day long becasue I know that my God and Savior is with me, and guides my every step! No matter where I am or what I am doing I know that I can talk with my Savior! Blessed be the Lord forever! John, you will remember that you and I exchanged postings on Romans chapter 9. In fact, one of my replies was this: (I've reached a new level of convidence and boldness in the Holy Spirit that I had not known before through this discussion. Not confidence in myself, God forbid! for there is no confidence in the flesh, but the confidence that God is in control and has predestinated everything! There is apsolutely nothing that He does not know or see or hear, and, that He has not preordained. Lord please forgive me of any former doubts, I do repent!) Since our discussion in March, which helped my to grow, I do pray a differently. I do not plead with God for these babies to be saved because I've been conducting searches in the forum on the subject of "infant salvation" and "salvation of children". I am convinced through the scriptures posted that these babies and children that God has put under my care, they are His, are saved if they should perish for some reason before the age of accountability. Yes, my prayers are different. They are more focused on asking God to create in me a pure heart after His nature and spirit that I may give spiritual guidance to those He has put in my life to care for. Incidently, I have in me a burden for all babies and children. I pray for them and weep sometimes because of their sufferings and abuse. I love children so much. In regards to this doctrine, what about: Heb 2:9 But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone. In this case, according to the doctrine, Does EVERYONE mean everyone as we define it, or, Is there a different meaning from the original writings? I know sometimes that one Hebrew word can have different meanings. Blessings Brother John! Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

162 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | Cyclist | 60580
Dear Bother John, I will praise the name of the Lord Jesus Christ forever! I will lift up my hands and my voice to my Savior! I will love the Lord my God with all my heart, mind, soul, and strengh! Praise the Lord Jesus! I went to the the web sight that you reffered me to. As I'm sure you know of me already brother John, I have not really read any theology before, so, it was, and is, a new experience for me. In fact I'm sure that you've seen me write before that I am described in this verse:(1 Cor 1:26 For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;), and I like this verse too:(1 Cor 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise.) With all of that being said, I still have no other thoughts on the question; you had asked me in a prior post on this thread if I had any. I do, however, have a some thoughts/comments on the doctrine you are introducing me too. Please forgive me here if I have strayed away from the original question. My thoughts/comments are these, keep in mind, I am in no way speaking out against or being judgemental of this doctrine; I do not know enough about it. To me the doctrine is bitter/sweet. Bitter because when I think of my Grandchildren and the loving times we have together in singing songs to the Lord and sharing stories from God's Word, and, the time I spend in continual prayer for them, and others as well, sometimes weeping for them. As I understand this doctrine, that all of this may be just a waste of emotion and time really hurts. Sweet because I know without a doubt that the chosen ones of God will enter His kingdom to be with Him forever. Your brother in Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

164 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | Cyclist | 60315
Dear brother John, I will give thanks to the Lord my God, with all my heart, And will glorify His name forever! Praise the Lord! I know dear brother that this must be a "trick" question. Your previous postings give you away as being fully knowledgable of the scriptural answers to your question. Or, Are you looking for a particular answer or some healthy discussion? When you use the word "can" in your question, does it relate to someone's ability to be saved? If so, we know the answer to that already, salvation is a free gift from GOD. Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Hi justme, Cyclist here again. I wanted to add to my previous post that I do pray for others and our country. My first post may have appeared selfish, praying only for my situations. Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continuallly be in my mouth |

168 | How do we have a good prayer life? | Luke 2:37 | Cyclist | 59466
Greetings justme! All praise and glory and honor be to God our Father, and, to our Lord Jesus Christ who gave His own life for our Sins. Praise the Lord! Hope all is well with you. I like your question and I wanted to share with you how I pray. Now I'm sure you know me by now justme, that I am not one who has spent any time reading books or Bibles with commentary by theologans or philosiphers or any other for that matter, not that I shouldn't be, I just haven't. In fact, other than reading that is nessesary for my job, I have read only the KJV and The Living Bible all of my Christian life. I've just now started to read a "Study Bible" that provides commentary on some scripture. I write all of that to point out that I am definately not an expert. Now let me stop wasting space and time and answer your question with my own opinion and experience. I am either praising or praying to my God the day long. Just like the widow in Luke 2:37, I pray continually, about everything in my life. It is important to me, as Paul writes in 2 Cor 10:5, that every thought be brought under the obdience of Christ. You see, I believe, and ask, the Father's guidence in every single situation or event in every single day, and yes, I do have to ask forgiveness sometimes. Who else could be a better guide than the Father. To me, my opinion only, this is prayer, and, I never stop! I also added the Merriam-Webster definition of "pray". Sorry for the long post. Your brother in Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! Luke 2:36 And there was a prophetess, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years and had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, Luke 2:37 and then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers. "Marriam - Webster" Main Entry: pray Pronunciation: 'prA Function: verb Etymology: Middle English, from Old French preier, from Latin precari, from prec-, prex request, prayer; akin to Old High German frAgEn to ask, Sanskrit prcchati he asks Date: 13th century transitive senses 1 : ENTREAT, IMPLORE -- often used as a function word in introducing a question, request, or plea (pray be careful) 2 : to get or bring by praying intransitive senses 1 : to make a request in a humble manner 2 : to address God or a god with adoration, confession, supplication, or thanksgiving |

prayon, With my hands lifted up and my mouth filled with praise, with a heart of thanksgiving, I will bless the LORD! Praise the LORD! Just a note to say that I think your post is GREAT! The woman that led me to Jesus, my spiritual mother, and, I am a male, was silent in the church, ACCEPT, when it came to teachings in Sunday school class that swayed from the Word of GOD, and, when she was asked to stand in for our pastor to preach. What a wonderful woman God made. I thank Him for her. She would not allow me to be misled by man's wisdom, or, by teachings that swayed from God's Word. She spoke up! Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

172 | Where was Lazarus for 4 days? | John 11:11 | Cyclist | 58058
daniel, Glory be to God who created the heavens and the earth and the seas and all that there in is! I will praise my God! He alone is the creator of things, seen and unsee, blessed be the name of the Lord! I have enjoyed our discussion on this subject. Thank you for taking time to respond. You have done very well in providing scripture references in your posts. At this point, I will agree to disagree with you. It is not my purpose to get into a debate that could become "heated", and, I'm sure you feel the same way. Paul writes: "Own no man but to love one another". Again, Thank you! In Christ Jesus, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

173 | Where was Lazarus for 4 days? | John 11:11 | Cyclist | 58026
daniel, I will sing of the mercies of the Lord! I will sing praises to my God! I will sing of His love! I will sing to the Lord! Thank you for reponding to my post. I understand your point about the transfiguration. I am trying to understand you about our being unconscience(sp?), after we are dead, until the return of Jesus. Please, if you will, read and respond to the following scripture(s): 1 Sam 28:3-19 NOTE: Samuel spoke with Saul after Samuel had died. Luke 16:19-16 NOTE: This is Jesus talking about a rich man and the begger Lazarus (not the same Lazarus that Jesus raised from the dead). It appears to me that in the scripture Jesus says "There was a rich man....", meaning that this "did" happen. Matt 27:52 The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; Matt 27:53 and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many. NOTE: If these were to remain "asleep/unconscious" until Jesus return, why then did they appear to many? In addition, you did not respond to this scripture that I posted: Matt 22:32 'I AM THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, AND THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB'? He is not the God of the dead but of the living." Thanks for giving this your attention. In Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

174 | Where was Lazarus for 4 days? | John 11:11 | Cyclist | 57938
Thank you Tim! Daniel and Kalos gave some very good scripture references to support their posittion(s) on this subject. It has been a very informative discussion, for me anyway, because of the scriptures contained in the postings. Blessings to you brother. It's always good to hear from you! Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

175 | Where was Lazarus for 4 days? | John 11:11 | Cyclist | 57905
Hi daniel! I will glorify the King of Kings and Lord of Lords who is Jesus Christ! For He did not think of Himself, but, His purpose was to do the will of God our Father, to die for our Sins! Prasie you Jesus Christ! You are Lord! I have read through all of the posts on this subject "Where was Lazarus for 4 days?" By your postings am I to understand that you believe that we simply fall asleep, and, do not exist until the return of Jesus? If so, I submit the following scripture(s): Mark 9:2 Six days later, Jesus *took with Him Peter and James and John, and *brought them up on a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them; Mark 9:3 and His garments became radiant and exceedingly white, as no launderer on earth can whiten them. Mark 9:4 Elijah appeared to them along with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus. Mark 9:5 Peter *said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; let us make three tabernacles, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah." Obviously Moses and Elijah exist. and Matt 22:32 'I AM THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, AND THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB'? He is not the God of the dead but of the living." In addition, You say Lazarus was "asleep". As I read through this event in scripture, Jesus tells the disciples "Lazarus is dead". John 11:12 The disciples then said to Him, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover." John 11:13 Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking of literal sleep. John 11:14 So Jesus then said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead, Nothing here intended to challenge you, or any other for that matter, just letting you know what I see. Hope to hear from you, and, anyone else that desires to join in, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continaully be in my mouth! |
