Dear brother, I just wanted to drop you a note to say that I have just taken the time to read all of the posts on this thread. Thanks again for staying with me. charis, All glory and honor and praise be to God our Father who created the heavens and the earth and the seas and all that there is therein! And to Jesus Christ His only begotten Son who thought not of himself but gave His life for our sins! Ouch! Your post hurt! Please for give me. I will come to a conclusion on this and post that conclusion in a day or two. Is that OK? I really didn't think that any conclusion that I reached would be of any value to this forum, me being a "lay" person and somewhat "juvenile" in the word of God. But your response to me is fair enough. After all , I did start this thread. Bless you brother! And again, I am truely very sorry! Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

165 | Do all little ones believe? | Matt 18:6 | Cyclist | 66966
Charis, I will clap my hands and make a joyous noise to the Lord! I will sng to the Lord with a joyful voice! I will give joyful thanksgiving to Jesus Christ for dying for my sins! Praise the name of the Lord! I plead with you dear forum members, bear with me, this is a long post. First of all Charis, thank you for the mild rebuke. I have received correction from the Lord, hopefully as a good son. I simply cannot participate in this forum that means so much to me as a young boy who tosses a firecracker in the midst of a crowd, and then, stands back watching for the calamity it may have created. Second, thanks to you who participated in this thread with charis and myself(cwade, rextar, Tim Moran, jlpangilinam, One) and, mbooker for your prayers for our dear brother in Christ Tim Moran. Third, before I share with you the conclusion that come to or my "opinion", let me say that I have prayerfully chosen these words, for three reasons. One, we are studying and discussing the word of the Almighty Lord GOD. Second, I must say that if I, even unintentionally, stepped out of the guidelines of this forum and be asked to leave, that I would weep bitterly for days. Third, I do not like to waste other member's time, nor space on this forum, with any of my possibly empty or vain words. Well, finally, to the point! I will start with this verse: Rom 11:34 For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, OR WHO BECAME HIS COUNSELOR? So then Charis I am as you and others are in understanding His ways. The original question "Do all little ones believe?" was from Matt chapter 18. From the commentaries that you posted, I can see that the majority of the commentators agree that Jesus was using the child as an example for hose who believe in Him. With this I agree. But as is always the case here on the forum, we(I) switched gears and started discussing the salvation of infants/babies. I'm not complaining, just stating a fact. I have this to say about the salvation of infants/babies. Mark 2:17 And hearing this, Jesus *said to them, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners." I don't read anything in any of the four gospels where Jesus spent time specifically instructing children or infants/babies to repent. The only "children" accounts we read are those where Jesus healed them, raised them from the dead, cast demons out of them, blessed them, and let them come to him when the adults tried to forbid them. Where the children in need of the one true great physician? I would think that if children were in need of the physician, instead of reading that Jesus spent time with publicans and sinners, we would be reading that Jesus was at the orphanages or the children work camps. The other thing that we read about children is this: Matt 21:15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He had done, and the children who were shouting in the temple, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they became indignant Matt 21:16 and said to Him, "Do You hear what these children are saying?" And Jesus *said to them, "Yes; have you never read, 'OUT OF THE MOUTH OF INFANTS AND NURSING BABIES YOU HAVE PREPARED PRAISE FOR YOURSELF'?" Were these children of the believers only? or were there children of the unbelievers praising the King of kings? We (I) simply do not know. This post is getting long enough, so here is just one more thing. John 20:21 So Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you." John 20:22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them and *said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 20:23 "If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained." So does this mean that if I being a believer in Christ, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, and filled with the Holy Spirit, that I, may forgive the sins of a baby/infant or child and their sins are forgiven since I've read in the postings on this thread that all are born into sin? (continued in the next post) |

166 | Do all little ones believe? | Matt 18:6 | Cyclist | 66967
(continued from previous post) And, forgive me, just one more thing. I'm sure this one has been posted before when discussing this subject. James 4:17 Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin. Does a baby/infant know what sin is before they are taught? Finally brother charis, I am not speaking directly to you. I read in one of your posts that you do not believe that all babies/infants are in hell but there is no scriptural eveidence that says that they are all in heaven. Agreed. 2 Tim 2:19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness." You also suggested that I be bold. I will boldly post this: John 3:30 "He must increase, but I must decrease" Thanks again charis! Always your brother in Christ Jesus, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

167 | Do all little ones believe? | Matt 18:6 | Cyclist | 66975
Brother Robert, The Lord our God fills my heart with joy and laughter the day long! I will praise Him from the rising of the time I get until the time I lay down to sleep! Thanks for the kind words brother! I must apologize though. I reread my post(s) and noticed some misuse of words and some words left out. I submitted the post from my office and was in somewhat of hurry. Just to share something personal about babies/infants and small children. There is such a strong burden in my heart for them that I lay awake sometimes weeping and praying for them. Don't get me wrong, I am very thankful for this burden because I consider it a gift from the Lord and I am filled with joy just to know that. Just the other night I was walking in the parking lot at the local store and saw a man sitting in his car. He was turned to the child in the back seat pointing his finger in the child's face and he was yelling at the child. In addition, he had a very mean look on his face. This child was a toddler, in a toddlers car seat, about 3 years old I'd guess. I really had to struggle to stay in the spirit of the Lord. You see, I am a black belt in karate and in very good shape and I know what I am capable of if I should loose control in the flesh. I don't say that to brag, just letting you know that it wouldn't pretty, that it is certainly not in the spririt of the Lord Jesus Christ, and I don't want it to happen. How would that man like to have a GIANT point a finger in his face yelling and threatening him! Well anyway, I prayed to the Lord immediately and hung around for a while and the man stopped, then the mother came out and all was calm. I layed awake praying for this little one for over an hour that night. Well Robert, thanks for letting me unload that. I will not make a habit of sharing personal experiences on the forum. Always your brother in Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

charis, I will glorify the Lord of lords who is Christ Jesus! I will glorify the lamd of God who is Christ Jesus! I will glorify our Savior who is Christ Jesus! I will glorify Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior with all my heart, soul, mind, strength, and all that is within me! Thanks again for this discussion! You have helped me to grow in the word of the Lord our God. You have made your points clear on all of these scriptures. I especially like the point that you made on John 20:23 - AMEN! Through sharing with you on this subject, I am convinced that there is nothing that you have found in the scriptures that tells us that all infants, babies, or children are saved. Well, bless you brother! And again, thank you! I do look forward to sharing posts again, on a different subject. I think that when someone does a "quick search" they will discover that almost everything to be said (written)on this has been said, as far as this forum is concerned anyway. So to steal a line from you, if I may "And everyone said - AMEN!" I will continue to pray for you and your ministry. Thank you for staying up later than you might normally have to respond to my post. Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

173 | Service to others - service to God? | Matt 20:28 | Cyclist | 73146
Mommapbs, Be exalted above the heavens, O Lord our God; Let Your glory be above all the earth! I will sing the glory of His name and make His praise glorious! My mouth is filled with His praise! And with His glory all day long! OK dear sister, I am going to take a stab at this. This looks like a wonderful and thought provoking subject! You write: "Is service to others the same as service to God?" Answer: Matt 25:31 "But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. Matt 25:32 "All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; Matt 25:33 and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. Matt 25:34 "Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. Matt 25:35 'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; Matt 25:36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.' Matt 25:37 "Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? Matt 25:38 'And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? Matt 25:39 'When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' Matt 25:40 "The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.' You write: "When is it different?" Luke 10:29 But wishing to justify himself, he said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Luke 10:30 Jesus replied and said, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, and they stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead. Luke 10:31 "And by chance a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Luke 10:32 "Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. Luke 10:33 "But a Samaritan, who was on a journey, came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion, Luke 10:34 and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn and took care of him. Luke 10:35 "On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you.' Luke 10:36 "Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers' hands?" Luke 10:37 And he said, "The one who showed mercy toward him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do the same." Rom 14:16 Therefore do not let what is for you a good thing be spoken of as evil; 1 Pet 2:12 Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation. You write: "Is it important for believers to be aware of this?" James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. I refuse to walk a cripple into a tavern or house of ill-repute, etc... but if he/she falls on the sidewalk in front of it or on the way to it, I will go to their aid in the name of Jesus Christ. Bleesings to you dear sister! Your brother and friend in Christ, David I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in mouth! |

jbw, The Lord is my rock and my salvation, my deliverer and my comforter! Praise the name of the Lord! Heb 9:27 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, Rom 14:10 But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. Matt 25:31 "But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. Matt 25:32 "All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; Matt 25:33 and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. Matt 25:41 "Then He will also say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; Matt 25:42 for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; Matt 25:43 I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.' Matt 25:44 "Then they themselves also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?' Matt 25:45 "Then He will answer them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' jbw, My lips shall praise Him! I will lift up my hands in His name! Praise the Lord! Matt 26:11 "For you always have the poor with you; but you do not always have Me. Luke 4:18 "THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR....... HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED, 14 Luke 6:20 And turning His gaze toward His disciples, He began to say, "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Luke 16:19 "Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day. Luke 16:20 "And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, Luke 16:21 and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man's table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores. Luke 16:22 "Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. Luke 16:23 "In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and *saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. Luke 16:24 "And he cried out and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.' Luke 16:25 "But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. Luke 16:26 'And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.' Luke 16:27 "And he said, 'Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father's house-- Luke 16:28 for I have five brothers--in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.' Dear Brother Tim Sheasby, Thank you so very much for this posting (COL 2:20-3:4)!! Through the word of GOD this matter has been put to rest for me. I have been following this subject since the first posting on 2/13/02 at 4:55 AM and, I must admit, have been a little troubled by some of the postings. Not by the scriptures or factual information but by the failure to edify and uplift one another in some of the postings. Not that I am speaking out against any brothers or sisters in the Lord for I have read some postings from most of you on subjects that I have searched in the forum and have been edified and uplifted. THANK YOU for seeking guidence from GOD and His Word! GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU! Cyclist |
