3 | Mystery of lawlessness? | Not Specified | Cyclist | 41133
Greetings Forum members! Cyclist here With my mouth I will give thanks abundantly to the LORD; And in the midst of many I will praise Him! Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good! Sing praises to His name, for it is lovely! I would like to get some comments from you on 2 Thess 2:7. Should we know already the mystery of lawlessness and how it is at work? Does any one know some other scripture references regarding "lawlessness" as it is used by Paul in this verse? How is the man of lawlessness being restrained? I would appreciate any comments or scripture references on this. 2 Thess 2:1 Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, 2 Thess 2:2 that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. 2 Thess 2:3 Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 2 Thess 2:4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. 2 Thess 2:5 Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? 2 Thess 2:6 And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. 2 Thess 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. 2 Thess 2:8 Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; Thanks in advance for giving this your attention. Blessed be the name of the Lord! Cyclist |

I'm having difficulty finding a portion of scripure that records a man sacrificing his daughter to God. Some one had asked me about it and I cannot seem to find it. In addition, I may need some help in explaining this event so any comment you have would be helpful, I think it is in Deuteronomy. Any help? 6 | Physical sports contests? | Not Specified | Cyclist | 61845
Dear Forum elders, Good morning! First of all, I did an extensive search in the forum and found only one post in answer to a simmilar question, I've added that response to this posted question. As you probably know by my user name "Cyclist", and if you have read my profile, I exercise this body that God has given me to use on earth quite a bit. In fact, I exercise 1 1/2 to 2 hours per day, 5 to 6 days per week. I am also a certified personal fitness trainer. However, I do not let, and will not let, exercise interfere with my spiritual life, duties, and responsibilities (God and family first, Career second, exercise and me last). Here is the post I found when I did a search: charis 3/1/01 7:34PM "Amigo, Exercise is fine. Inflating every seperate muscle on your body for the purpose of showng your oiled skin to others or looking at your self in the mirror is indeed vain (empty). Becoming a brain-dead couch potato is not very good either. Fitness of mind and body makes sense. Extremes on either side are foolish. Even this forum is healthy if it is thought-provoking and faith-lifting. An 'over-pumped' mind is also foolish." Now to my question, finally! I consider body building a sport and there is a contest coming up that I have participated in before, but, would I possibly be offending my fellow Christians, or, not be a proper whitness to others? Rom 14:21 It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine, or to do anything by which your brother stumbles. I know of others, very few, that are body builders that claim to be Christian. However, I have not been able to share with them to know if the true Spirit of Jesus is in them. Here are scriptures that I found that may relate to physical exercise but I would like to know if there are more, and, I do value your opinion(s) as Christian elders because since I have been part of this forum your postings have really helped me to grow, by leaps and bounds! NASB 1 Cor 9:25 Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. NASB 1 Tim 4:8 for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. KJV 1 Tim 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. Thank you! Always your brother in Christ, Cyclist P.S. I spared you of opening my posted question with praise to my God and yours. Not that I will EVER apologize for praising and glorifying our Heavenly Father, God forbid! It has been brought to my attention that a forum may not be the place for that. I will, however, end my post the same way I always do, and, if you will still allow me to, begin my posts with praise. I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

8 | Why seek healing for this flesh? | Not Specified | Cyclist | 75279
Dear Forum Family, Blessed be the name of the Lord our God and His Son Jesus Christ forever more! Praise the Lord for His love and mercy and grace! Praise the Lord for He is good to His children! Praise the Lord for His patience with His children! Let everything that has breath praise the name of the Lord! Praise Him from the mountain tops! Praise Him from the valleys! praise Him! It's been quite a while since I've visited. Without going into any long details, I have been very busy! I have a question for those of you who are my elders and my brothers and my sisters on this forum (I pray that those of you whom I consider my elders or Brothers or Sisters know who you are.) Here it is. Even though this body I have been given is in great shape (I spend at least ten hours per week excercising it and the doctor tells me "I wish all of my patients were in as good of shape as your are, except for....."), there exists a cuouple of malfunctions. Sparing you all of the details, I was taken from my office to the emergency room on Wednesday morning. Woops! Got so caught up in all of that, I almost almost strayed away from posting my question! WHY SEEK HEALING FOR THIS BODY? Please, please don't get me wrong. I get annual physicals and that on my own, it is not required for my permenant illnesses. And, I do always go to my physician when having problems. When I read the holy word of the Lord my God I so desire to be with Him in His kingdom! Again, don't misunderstand me please, I haven't gone off my rocker, not yet anyway. Why seek healing for this flesh that will not inherit the kingdom of God? I know that the Lord our God has blessed us with some very good doctors, but, I'm having difficulty understanding the purpose. Honestly, it seems sometimes that the closer I am to death, the happier I am because I will be with the Lord forever. Again, I'm NOT CRAZY! Never the less, If here (on earth) is where His desire is for me, then here I am happy to be. Blessed be the Lord forever! I posted a couple of scriptures below. Please I pray you my friends, help me understand through the word of the Lord our God. I am thankful for each one of you! Bless you as you prayerfully consider your answer(s) to me. Your input is very important to me on this issue. Col 3:1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Phil 1:23 But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; I always pray for you my friends. Always your brother in Christ Jesus our Lord, David (Cyclist) I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

10 | How to reconize and know the holy spiri | Bible general Archive 1 | Cyclist | 34644
wingsofhopeministry, I noticed that this question that you posted to the forum yesterday was still unaswered this morning. I've been praying that GOD would help to provide an answer for this. I am now going to attempt an answer. I do not think that a human explanation can give merritt to the actual experience of the voice of God through the Holy Spirit when we are spoken to inwardly. A few scripture references that come to mind are Job 32:8 "...and the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding". Proverbs 3:5 "..do not lean on your own understaning". Mark 4:11 "To you has been given the mistery of the Kingdom of God." John 10:16 and 10:27 "My sheep know My voice". 1Corinthians 2:5 - 2:16 These verses deal with the fact that the wisdom of man cannot be compaired to the wisdom of God and that our faith should not rest in the wisdom of man. So, when I see what is written in the scriptures I would say that the inward voice cannot be explained with human wisdom or understanding. I will however share with you my experience with the inward voice of the Holy Spirit. I did not know or experience the inward voice of the Holy Spirit until I was born again and received the Holy Spirit of Christ into my life. When I'm spoken to by the Holy Spirit, I know it. It is one of those things that you know it when it happens. The Bible says that God is not the author of confusion. When God speaks to me through His Holy Spirit I am "quickened', if you will. At the moment that it happens I am in full understanding of and experience the Holy Spirit in a supernatural way that cannot be explained. The voice is not a human voice but the true voice of the Spirit of God. When this happens I experience a feeling of being "in tune" with God. Anything that was troubling me, whether in my spirit, my mind, or my body, is completely gone. I am filled with the Joy of the Lord and with a Peace that passes all understanding! You'll know when the voice of the Most Holy is talking to you. He will not confuse you in any way. for He is the Lord our God! In him is Love, Joy, and Peace! Sorry for the lengthy answer. I pray that this helps. GOD BLESS YOU! Cyclist |

11 | Does anyone know where this verse is? | Bible general Archive 1 | Cyclist | 35537
Hello beth1117n! One very good source for searching for specific scriptures is the Bible Gateway. (httn://bible.gospelcom.net/). I did a brief search for you but couldn't find the scripture that you are looking for. Hope this helps. GOD BLESS YOU! YOU ARE LOVED! Cyclist |

12 | I had a vision of 9/11/01 at 4:45 a.m. | Bible general Archive 1 | Cyclist | 35829
Leftwich, Please bear with me as I reply to your question. I sometimes come off a little "gruff" but it is never meant that way. I whink that it is wonderful that you spend time in the Word of God and pray to him continually! Keep it up! With regards to your job search; Have you tried searching the internet? I don't know where you reside but have you tried a local job placement service? It might be wise to do a "self inventory" of your skills, abilities, qualifications, and current level of education. There are government programs that will aid you in education if need be. Your never to old to learn. I'm in my forties and still attend a few seminars and a college course once in a while that relates to my position. No offense intended but, Are you seeking The Father for a job and then waiting for the phone to ring? Are you waiting for the job that you want and passing up other opportunities? Are you applying with businesses? When we depend on GOD to guide us we don't always get want we want, including a certain type of job, but what we can expect is that it will be in GOD's plan for us, If we are trusting in Him. Regarding your visions. The first one may have put me in the hospital if I'd had it! 9/11 changed very many, if not all the lives of U.S. citizens. I wept for 2 weeks. Finally, no offense intended, it might help if you explain to the forum your purpose in participating. I noticed that EdB and Hank replied to you and you failed to give them the information that they need to help answer you. I've done searches on numerous topics in the forum and have learned much from postings by both of them. With all due respect to you and especially in CHRIST'S LOVE, Cyclist |

Aussie, Praise be to God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ to Whom all power has be given in Heaven and on earth! I'm with EdB on this question "post"-after what? "modernism"-If you are asking about thinking in the current church here is my reply, and this is just my opinion, I do not see any problem with modern thinking with regard to technology, construction, transportation, and communication. With regards to conduct and attitude you need to search the scriptures. Phil 2:5 ....same attitude as Christ. 2 Tim 2:14 and 15 ....Be diligent to present yourselves approved to God. Rom 6:11 ....dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Jesus is Lord! Cyclist |

15 | Raven and John Reformed, Baptism? | Bible general Archive 1 | Cyclist | 36496
RAVEN and John Reformed, Good Day to you! I noticed that the question regarding speaking in tongues got into the subject of it being nessesary to be baptized in order to be saved. I have a question on this subject Reference Luke 23:32 through 43. (32)...Two others also, who were criminals,... (42)...Jesus, Remember me when You come in Your Kingdom. (43)..., Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in paradise. My question is, and not challenging you but would just like to know, was the criminal excused from baptism? If the criminal was from that region he would have heard of John the baptist wouldn't he? That may be an unfair question because we do not know where the criminal was from. I would welcome comments from anyone on the forum. Much Love in Christ, Cyclist |

Dear beleivers with me in Christ Jesus, Thank you for all of the input on the subject of baptism. From all of the postings I've reached the understanding, and correct me if I am wrong, that the only way to obtain salvation in by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is necessary for those who beleive in Christ and learn, being taught from the Word of God, that baptism is an act of washing away of sins and that it is done in the name of Jesus. In my search on this subject I found this passage. I thought it was interesting that it was necessary for these to be "re-baptized" in the name of Jesus. What does this mean? If it seems that I'm dragging this subject on, I apoligize, but I would appreciate any comments from the forum. Acts 19:1 It happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus, and found some disciples. Acts 19:2 He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" And they said to him, "No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." Acts 19:3 And he said, "Into what then were you baptized?" And they said, "Into John's baptism." Acts 19:4 Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus." Acts 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Acts 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying. Jesus is alive, the same yesterday, today, and forever! RAVEN, According to your comments belief alone will not save us, baptism is required, and, I will assume that baptism without beleif will not save us either. Not to get into "trifles" but, Does "deathbed" salvation not exist? Again, not a challenge, I am just eager to learn. Rev 21:6 Then He said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. Rev 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost. In Him, Cyclist |

Dear Tim Moran, Does the following passage relate to our discussion? Is baptism showing our faith by works? James 2:18 But someone may well say, "You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works." 2 James 2:20 But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? 3 James 2:26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. Always in Christ, Cyclist |
