226 | bible years seem backwards | Matthew | lionheart | 189692
elohim7, Greetings and welcome to the forum. The answer that bianca0517 gave you was pretty close. The numbers do get smaller or as you say go backwards. The calender used during during this period of time was based on the time Christ was born. Thus when yousee, for example the year 500BC is fivehundred years before Christ was born. I also believe we are refering to a Hebrew calender during this time. The calender we use today is based on the Roman calender that became more prevelant with the growth of the Roman empire. I hope this helps, there others thar are more knowledgeable about this than I. In Him, lionheart |

227 | forgiveness | 2 Cor 13:5 | lionheart | 189303
NightJay0044, I am with you brother. It hurts allot when one we love sins against us. First of all I want to clarify one very important thing here. To forgive does not mean to forget. You will remember but will you choose to look beyond the sin and see her as God see's her. Love the person and hate the sin. If we cant do that then we need to go back and check our own heart. That's why Paul tells us to examin ourselves. (2 Corinthians 13:5)Jesus even tells us that if we don't forgive others then God will not forgive. Think about 2 Timothy 3:12. People will sin against us, we will face Persecution. It's a given that we're gonna get hurt. The bible says we will. It's what we do with them that is vital to our walk with God. These are a few things to look at when it comes to forgiving others. Remember that God has forgiven you and as a disciple of Jesus Christ we can do no less. In Him, lionheart |

00123, I have a couple of books that I bought when I was younger (Christian fiction) by a guy named Frank Perreti. (This Present Darkness, Piercing The Darkness) They are good reading and do approach things from a godly point of view. I would also have no problem recomending any thing by C.S Lewis or J.R. Tolkien. I think your daughter would do well with them. Encourage her to read the bible everyday also. Hope this helps. In Him, lionheart |

233 | GODS leading | 2 Tim 2:15 | lionheart | 188942
otahuti, Welcome to the forum. A good question. Two things for starters.First of all prayer and then making it a point to get into God's Word. I think one of the most important things for us as disciples of Jesus Christ is that when God is moving us in a certain direction is that God will not go outside the bounds of His Word, neither will He do anything contradictory to Word. God may open some doors while closing others. So by understanding some of these basic principles and practicing them we can know God's calling on our lives. In Him, lionheart |

234 | Saved or not ? | Hebrews | lionheart | 188876
justme, Hello again brother. This is on oft discussed and at the same time a much misunderstood subject as many others believe and profess that one does not lose thier salvation.Jesus stated clearly in the Gospels that those who belonged to him could not be taken from Him.In response to your question, yes there are those who are not genuinely saved.I was one of those for allot of years.Anyone can hang a label on themselves. But at some point in time all will come to that bottom line,They will know for certain whether or not they are saved. If one looks at the bible with an open heart and open eyes there is no grey area in regards to salvation. Now when we say fall or fall away we come to a much different inference. When we refer fall or fall away it's not about loosing as much as foresaking what one has and this is something that Hebrews 6 touches on. It's quite impossible to lose somthing you never had to start with. This may not be what allot of folks wanna hear but I would rather err on the side of safety than on the side of assumption. Paul makes a very powerful statement in 2 Corinthians 12:5 When he tells us to test ourselves to see if we are in the faith,we are exhorted to examine ourselves. This is a huge wakeup call for all. Where do we stand in relation to The Word of God? If one aproaches this question with a 2 Timothy 2:15 heart there can be no doubt for anyone. In Him, lionheart |

235 | Asking many to pray for us? | Eccl 4:12 | lionheart | 188872
justme, Good day to you brother. Faith is essential in all aspects of a believer's walk with God. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that without faith we cannot please God. James 5:15,16 tells us that the prayer offered in faith will restore the sick and that the effective prayer of the righteous accomplishes much. But I will say this in reference to Ecclisiastes 4:12 God never created any of us to be lone rangers. There is always strength in numbers. We will be stronger in the majority of cases together than we will be individually. There will be instances where it will be just you and God.David is a good example of this. Imagine if he had went into battle against Goliath and had been faithless he would have been squashed. It would not have mattered that he had the armies of Isreal at his back,it didnt matter anyway considering where ther hearts were at at this particular moment in time. A good case in point is my own salvation twelve plus years ago. Unknown to me at the time,I had a group of people that had been praying for me for more than a year. Yes the prayer of the one can move the heart of God,but also the prayer of the many. God wants us united. So whether you pray alone or togethor in concort with others is no judgement on our faith. But it is inline with God's will to have us united. In Him, lionheart uni |

236 | With out coporate Prayer what will ? | Heb 10:25 | lionheart | 188807
123/ghj, Prayer is vitally important in the life of all believers individually and collectively. The bible clearly teaches the importance of fellowship. (Hebrews 10:23-25) That includes worship and anyother times we may get together. If we are not praying together and for eachother we will be weak and not nearly as effective as we could be. In Him, lionheart |

237 | Which saints will be left behind? | 1 Thess 4:17 | lionheart | 188569
M.Royal, 1 Thessalonians 4:17 doesn't necessarily infer that any believer gets left behind. What I do see here is the order that they will be taken up The dead in Christ first then the remaining saints. This is a simultaneous occurrence. In reference to Revelation 14:1 and 15:1,2. Could these not refer to those who are saved during the tribulation? Jew and gentile alike. Not everyone left behind will take the mark. In Him, lionheart |

238 | Jno.1:13 redemption or incarnation | John 1:13 | lionheart | 188524
saint-george, Why wouldn't all three of these verses conected? The first fourteen verses say a whole lot about this subject. (Incarnation,Salvation) That's why I've stated on other occasions the importance of looking at things in context. It takes allot of guess work and speculation out of the equation. In Him, lionheart |

239 | Is this speaking of Christ or believers? | John 1:13 | lionheart | 188334
george, Greetings and welcome to the forum. It's vital that we read things in context.Taking one single verse of scripture will not always tell us what we need to or want to know. By reading and considering things within the context in which they were written will greatly simplify our understanding. John 1:1-14 is very powerful in terms of telling of Jesus and what he would make available to us and our salvation. IN Him, lionheart |

240 | Holy Spirit - indwelling / infilling | Acts 2:38 | lionheart | 188246
High cheri, God's best to you this fine Lords day. This has been a much discussed subject on the forum over the time I've been on the forum. A question I might pose for your consideration in light of Acts 2:38 is there any difference. Why would we need to ask God for something we already have? We have no more or less Of the Holy Spirit now than we did the day we were saved. What I might sugjest is that you do a word study on words such as recieve, fill, ect. study out Acts chapter two for starters. This is a good starting point when dealing with this subject. It helps to go back to the beginning, oft times it will help us to find the most foundational material on what we are researching.I hope this helps.Let us know what you learn. In Him, lionheart |
