Good day to you, brothers and sisters: If my below questions are repeated in past posts, kindly direct me to them. Scripture from my NIV bible 1 Corinthians 7:17 to 24 Paul said: ...each one should retain the place in life that the Lord assigned to him and to which God has called him... Q: What did Paul mean? In what aspect(s) did this apply? How should I interpret it in modern days? 1 Cor 7:25 to 28 Q: What kind of present crisis did Paul mean in verse 26? (problem of adultery in Corinthian church? female outnumbered male?) Q: In verse 28, why did Paul specifically mention that marrying or a virgin marrying was not sinning? Was it not understood that it was not sin? Thanks for any help. God bless. Azure |

Dear Ben, May I suggest the below scripture which I think could fit to your question concerning worry for friends spiritual well-being or even sinning. The verse though meant for Job's children, however, I think it can also apply today concerning our caring for friends and remember them in our prayers. Job 1:4 to 5 His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, "Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." This was Job's regular custom. Hope this help. 2186 | Homosexual are picked on in the church? | Lev 20:13 | azurelaw | 177387
Dear Kalos, I agree with you totally. This subject or similar one has been discussed over and over again. Why is that so? Sadly I believe it could be people's hardness of heart and their blindness towards Satan's tricks. Many of you guys have given sound and clear scriptural explanation on the issue, still the question just re-appears like weeds. Proverbs 19:3 - A man's own folly ruins his life, yet his heart rages against the Lord. Proverbs 23:29 Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? 30: Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine. 31: Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly! 32: In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper. 33: Your eyes will see strange sights and your mind imagine confusing things. 34: You will be like one sleeping on the high seas, lying on top of the rigging. 35: "They hit me," you will say, "but I'm not hurt! They beat me, but I don't feel it! When will I wake up so I can find another drink?" Woe unto those who are still making excuses for not repenting. How heartbreaking it is to see that we walk our own way. God bless. Azure |

2188 | John 20:23 | John 20:23 | azurelaw | 176983
Can anyone explain this verse? How should we interpret it together with Matthew 18:18 and 22? The teacher in our Church explained the second part (if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained) that if we do not forgive the sins of others, their sins retained in your heart. That is you are always in a situation that you memorize their sins. In doing so, you are infact bothered by their sins. That is why we should forgive. Thanks for any help. Azure |

2190 | Love or spoil our brother? | Not Specified | azurelaw | 176032
Love or spoil our brother? 1 Peter 4:8, Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. Matthew 7:3, Do not judge, or you too will be judged..... When seeing some improper behaviour or misconduct of a brother or sister (his/her behaviour affects the smooth operation of a certain function in church) , some chose to be silent (while some over reacted with anger) instead of reminding the person for the reasons that: 1/ we are told to love and tolerate our brothers. 2/ we are not in a position to judge, only God can judge man. Though we should not judge, can we escape from the duty of giving warning or advice (as prophecies did in the OT)? If we refrain from giving warning or advice, the person's misconduct or improper behaviour could have continued. In that case, we are just spoiling our brother/sister and we might be resposible for his/her such behaviour. I need biblical advice. |

2192 | Killing of Joab and Adonijah | OT general | azurelaw | 175997
Dear Doc, Thanks for your answer. However, if I understand your answer correctly, I would need further clarification to my doubts: 1/ In the scripture, David said to Solomon "Deal with him according to your wisdom, but do not let his gray head go down to the grave in peace." (1 King 2:6, NIV version). On 1 King 2:29 ".... Solomon ordered Benaiah son of Jehoiada, 'Go, strike him down!'" From these two scriptures, I can only see that both David and Solomon decided to kill Joab. Is there anything between the lines as you said "intended to try him his crimes" which I had missed? 2/ I understand Solomon was not trying to kill Adonijah but showed his mercy to him by a covenant as you have mentioned. Do you mean that his (Adonijah's) request of marrying Abishag is a kind of evil which caused a breach of the covenant? However, there is no mention that Abishag was a concubine of David, but a virgin serving David only and David did not "sleep" with her neither. Anyway, I would say that Adonijah was a foolish and greedy man indeed. In Christ. Azure |

1 King 2 : 1 to 35 1/ Why didn't David kill Joab himself but left it to the hands of Solomon instead? 2/ For what reason did Solomon kill Adonijah? (He had promised that he would not kill him unless evil was found in him - 1King 1:52). Thanks for answering in advance. Azure |

2195 | Are we to give ALL to anyone wanting it? | Bible general Archive 3 | azurelaw | 175773
Dear Starfire, I would like to offer my humble answer to your question. I think Matt 5:40 and Luke 6:29 is not telling us to be a coward. In Matthew 5, Jesus began his teaching to his disciples on the Beatitudes and so on, and there were hints on what they would have faced in future as a follower of Jesus. In Luke 6:29, as you have read, Jesus talked about loving your enemy. Here Jesus had pushed the requirement to the extreme. Therefore, I would consider that Jesus was telling us to prepare our HEART first when we experience all kinds of evil done to us (since in reality, there is often unjustice everywhere). In doing so, we can refrain from anger and bitterness if we fail to claim back our rights or possession (in your case). Don't be upset, please read Rome 12:19. Don't give up hope, please read Luke 18:1-6. Lift up your heart and get strength, please read Prov 24:10, Isaiah 30:15, 40:29, 40:31, 41:10 and Ezek 34:16. Get strength in His peace, then you and your sister can be strong enough to face the difficulties laid before you. Hope this answers your question. God bless you. Azure |

2197 | One Pastor and one assembly? | Acts 2:42 | azurelaw | 175223
Dear Hank, Thanks for your reply with encouragement and a good sense of humour. I apologize for my ignorance concerning your dialect. It would be fine with me to take the challenge of reading this 'strange and funny' language. But please don't use them in 'key words' :-) My native tongue is Cantonese (a kind of Chinese). You may (if you have time) just read my profile which I have completed for almost a week. May God bless you and all the participants here in this forum. In Christ Azure |

Dear Hank, I have noticed in some of your recent posts, you have used some strange language or spelling (it looks like so to me) in reply to one or two specific writers, say Bereaniam (Margaret)?. Was it your intention to communicate with them this way? I always enjoy reading your comments and some others' too, say Doc, Kalos, Steve, to name a few. Since I am not a native English speaker, your new approach will add to me some difficulties in understanding your message. I would appreciate it if you could make your language plain (I am not sure if I used the proper wordings here). However, if you think this is the most comfortable or best way for you to communicate with these brothers or sisters, certainly I sincerely respect your choice. Then I have to tune myself to comprehend better :-) In Christ Azure |

2200 | Why was I banned a day before mom died? | Bible general Archive 3 | azurelaw | 175019
Dear Vince, I feel so sad after I read your message. It is not because your charge against the forum, but I see an angry, sad and lost soul who has lost his/her (?) most loved one. I see several brothers/sisters here at this forum have been trying their best to response your questions or doubts according to the Bible. But please do understand that we, as human being, have our limitations especially with this communication media which we cannot have a face to face interaction. So if we failed you, please be assured that God will never fail you - "If WITH ALL YOUR HEART ye TRULY seek Me, ye shall ever SURELY find me. Thus said our God" I was wondering why do you keep on going to this forum since I read sense of offesiveness in most of your posts. I guess there must be something (or "Someone") guiding you here or to the edge of God's way. So, please keep on searching God (it is a matter of life and death) though you find this forum not satisfactory. P.S. I noticed that some of our brothers/sisters have asked you to let known yourself and it seems that you refused to do so. I would like to say that although no one here knows who you are, God knows you in every single detail. HE cares about you. Please read Psalm 139, this is one of my favourites. Love in Christ. Azure |
