2061 | Remarriage of a christian | Rom 7:2 | azurelaw | 185278
Today I have a nice chat with my sister-in-law. One of the topics we have come across is "re-marrying" of a widow or a divorced christian. She said that God only puts much weight on the first marriage than the second regardless of the reason of the failure of the first marriage. I find it doubtful and I also cannot recall any scriptural support for her such comment. Can anyone help? Shalom Azure |

2062 | Grace that Amazes is Cross Centered | Zech 4:7 | azurelaw | 185217
Dear Doc, Thanks for quoting some background stories of John Newton whom I have heard of with very limited part of his story but not those parts as you have mentioned. Now I know better why he called himself "a wretch" in his "Amazing Grace" and he loved Jesus so dearly. I can tell you that my heart grieves with falling tears at this moment when reading his story and I can only think of Jesus' saying Luke 7:41-43 "A moneylender had two debtors: one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they were unable to repay, he graciously forgave them both. So which of them will love him more?" Simon answered and said, "I suppose the one whom he forgave more." And He said to him, "You have judged correctly." Shalom Azure |

Dear Suzie, I would like to offer the below verse to your husband. Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if any person is overtaken in misconduct or sin of any sort, you who are spiritual [who are RESPONSIVE TO and CONTROLLED BY THE SPIRIT] should set him right and restore and reinstate him, without any sense of superiority and with all gentleness, KEEPING AN ATTENTIVE EYE ON YOURSELF, LEST YOU SHOULD BE TEMPTED ALSO. My emphasis is capitalized. Shalom Azure |

2069 | can it really all be another trick? | Is 14:12 | azurelaw | 184910
Dear stj, No offensive feeling at all. It's been clarified already. You can see her post and mine as well. Yes, I was a bit confused (since I am not a native English speaker) when I read that statement. That was why I did ask her for clarification so that I would not misunderstand her. Thanks again for your thougtfulness. Shalom Azure |

2070 | can it really all be another trick? | Is 14:12 | azurelaw | 184908
Dear Otherearthmother, Thank you. That's clear now. May God be glorified with your work and His blessings be always with you. May I use the below scriptures as a reminder to both you and me. 1 Corinthians 10:23-24 All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify. Let no one seek his own good, but that of his neighbor. 1 Timothy 2:9-10 Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness. Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised. Shalom Azure |

2073 | Which church to get baptized in? | Acts 2:38 | azurelaw | 184727
Greetings to you llschab, May I add a little bit of my thought to your question? I think basically it is OK to be baptized at any churches as long as they are teaching sound doctrines not heresy and stick to God's Word. To my knowledge (based on the city where I live), Methodist church is very reliable (I hope it does not vary from countries). You have to discern for yourself your cousin's church based on the same criteria. My second point is that, it would be advisable to be baptized at the church where you are attending and more familiar with. After being baptized, the person usually becomes a member of the denomination. Then you have the right and OBLIGATION to vote. If you are not familiar with the church, how can you vote fairly. In the long term, there could be the possibility that you will part-take in certain ministry (e.g. deacon). Some churches will set the membership as a basic requirement for a person to be involved in the ministry. If you are holding a membership at your cousin's church which you are not attending, it will not be fair to them as well. For if they have the system of congregation meeting annually for decision on some major issues, your vote could be critical to them. My final point is that your focus or consideration should not be where your marriage be taken place, but how God would lead you to the place where He wants you to be involved and serve His body in future. I think the below scripture (though not tackling the issue as yours) could be helpful for your consideration. 2 Corinthians 11 8: I robbed other churches by taking wages from them to serve you; 9: and when I was present with you and was in need, I was not a burden to anyone; for when the brethren came from Macedonia they fully supplied my need, and in everything I kept myself from being a burden to you, and will continue to do so. 2074 | battle for moses' bones, what book | Jude | azurelaw | 184627
Dear Tomas, Welcome to the forum. It is mentioned in Jude 1:9. By the way, if you want to look for any specific verse, you do not need to post a question. You can easily get it by the search function box on your right hand side of the screen the "Get Bible Text". You just need to type in the key word, say in your case "Moses". Of course you have to be patient to scan through a bunch of verses for getting your answer. Shalom Azure |

2075 | Once saved, always saved? | Matt 25:14 | azurelaw | 184480
Dear Jonp, Thanks for your answer. For point 2, yes, those are not true believers will not care about the Lord's concerns. However, I am still not quite clear about Jesus statement. Is Jesus saying that even that servant does not work as hard or aggressive as the other two (such as preaching the gospels, caring the poor, etc.), he should at least serve in the church ministry where he can have indirect contribution to or support on the Lord's concern via the church? Look forward to receiving your further enlightenment. Shalom Azure |

Dear Mommaphs, Your quote from Mr. Lewis attracted me (for he his my favourite writer) to click on your user profile. And from which I have read the poem you wrote. I would like to say that your poem has deeply touched my heart. As I read on, I really see your love, your hope and your faith toward God. I can tell you that you are a blessing from God for those who are of the same state of suffering. I have friends and fellow members who have been diagnosed with cancer. I found your poem comforting and encouraging. Therefore, I am considering to translate it into Chinese for my friends (for some of them cannot read English). However, I have to ask for your permission to do so. Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Keep you and your family in my prayers Shalom Azure |

2080 | origin of the devil | Ezek 28:13 | azurelaw | 184368
Dear Jonp, Thanks for the greetings and your encouragement. First let me welcome you to the forum. I am glad that you have been to Hong Kong before. Hope you enjoyed your stay in this dynamic city. However, this is a place full of temptations as well. In this so-call affluent and modern city, people seldom consider their need of God. We, HK christians, have to work extremely hard on the mission. May God bless you and keep you always. Shalom Azure |
