1981 | saved and sanctified | Ephesians | azurelaw | 189271
By the blood of Jesus, believers are called righteous and saved. As believers, in our process of sanctification in our life time, is it a must that we undergo all sorts of trials, tests, and sufferings, etc.(the refining process of fine gold)? Is sanctification referred to what Paul said in 1 Cor 10:24 as the reward? How should I understand the relationship between being saved and sanctified? With this I mean, some believers believed and were baptized just before the moment of their death, there was no way for them to undergo the process of sanctification as such described in Zech 13:9. Hope I have expressed my question clear. Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |

Dear Hank, Thanks for your encouragement. I have got these 3 books. I have only finished two except the Screwtape Letters (poor me, it is a bit difficult for me to digest). There are several books await me too! I am a real greedy person :-) Shalom Azure |

1983 | loving others | 1 Cor 13:1 | azurelaw | 189258
Dear NightJay, Glad to know that you like to learn about this wide and deep subject. Keep up the good work. May I offer my 0.2 percent (I dare not say 2 percent) of my understanding concerning the subject. God is love. (You probably know this) Paul has given us a detail description about love in 1 Corinthian 13. Most of the time the sermons I heard, the speakers quoted the famous 1 Cor 13 as an encouragement / guideline to us for treating one another especially in wedding ceremonies. One day, our cell group leader shared with us an additional view that 1 Cor 13 is talking about God. For He is the source of love. It seems I have not answered your question yet. Matt 22:39 ....and YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." If you don't love yourself, how can you love your neighbour? Who control our lives? GOD, no one else. Hope the above is helpful to you. Maybe you will be interest in reading the book "The Four Loves" by C.S. Lewis. Shalom Azure |

1984 | do you think tarot cards are a sin? | 1 Sam 15:23 | azurelaw | 189173
Dear Hank, I missed that point. Thank you for your further clarification. However, there are a number of card games for entertainment, I rather choose not putting myself in the temptation. :) Shalom Azure |

1985 | do you think tarot cards are a sin? | Lev 19:31 | azurelaw | 189165
Dear leapordgirl13, Tarot cards are just pieces of hard paper imprint with wierd figures. But playing tarot cards is sin. Please read Lev 19:31 and the below scripture: Lev 20:6 'As for the person who turns to mediums and to spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will also set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people. Shalom Azure P.S. May I ask if your age qualifies you to the forum? Have you read the terms of use of the forum concerning the age requirement? |

Dear InGodITrust, Cheri, John and Hank, Just got the time to write this note after picking up my daughter from school. Thank you all for your concern and care. Before I could comfort anyone, I am blessed with all your comforts and love shown to me. Though my mood is still a bit gloomy, strengths have been regained with your kind words. Hank, thank you for the scripture which is one of my favourites. May the family be blessed with our Saviour's inspiring Words. May you all be blessed abundantly. Love in Christ and Shalom Azure |

1988 | Comforting verse for non-believers | Not Specified | azurelaw | 189110
A dear friend (a nurse on her way to care for the patients who have no chance of recovery) died in an accident (while she was walking along the pedestrian path, a careless truck driver lost its control in a speedy turn thus caused the truck to fall onto her) few days ago leaving her husband with 2 very little sons at the age of 8 and 10. Unfortunately, the family are non-believers. I am going to attend her funeral, however I would like to write something from the bible for comforting the family. But my brain is blank at the moment and I cannot think of any suitable verse for the situation. Please help. Shalom Azure |

1990 | I want to know if I have to give my thit | 2 Cor 9:7 | azurelaw | 189106
Dear Marbella, Congratulations and welcome to the family of God. Don't worry too much about your English. I am not a native English speaking person for I am a Chinese living in Hong Kong. Brothers and sisters here at the forum are kind, patient and loving to help you study the bible as what they have done to me. Concerning your questions, please see the below scriptures I would like to offer: 2 Cor 9:7 Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Mark 12:41 And He sat down opposite the treasury, and began observing how the people were putting money into the treasury; and many rich people were putting in large sums. Mark 12:42 A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a cent. Mark 12:43 Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, "Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury; Mark 12:44 for they all put in out of their surplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, all she had to live on." Keep on studying His Word. Hope you enjoy the forum. Shalom Azure |

1991 | A prophet is not without honor... | Matt 11:1 | azurelaw | 189096
Dear SteveDeming, I hope I did not misunderstand you. However, your so-call question is expressed in the way that it seems like a topic for debate. Have you read the terms of use of the forum? If not, please do. If possible, could you please rephrase your question? Shalom Azure |

1992 | Conditional organs donation | Matt 7:12 | azurelaw | 189031
Dear Hank, Thank you for sharing. I don't know how long did it take you to recover from the trauma. I pray that my eldest brother (a devoted christian) could soon recovered and say the same thing as yours. He lost his youngest son (a little christian) who was drowned in a swimming pool at the age of 7 three years ago. After the accident, my sister-in-law (a devoted christian, too) cried all day and avoid to stay home for being haunted with those memories of the lovely boy. My brother, keeping his agony deep into his heart, appears to be calm in front of people and his wife in order not to make her worry. However, since then, he stopped praying to God until lately God makes use of his best friend's fatal illness to drive my brother to open his mouth and pray for his friend. I am sure God has been and is working for He has sent angels from my brother's church to help him get through it. God will draw my brother nearer and nearer to Him. Shalom Azure |

1993 | Worship in form of art | Ex 20:4 | azurelaw | 189010
Dear otahuti, I am terribly sorry that you felt hurt with my quoting of the scripture. I even did not notice your saying about me "close minded" as I just felt relieved to see your first part of the answer and skipped the rest in your first response to me. Please do understand that just by your short question, it would be quite difficult for me to understand what lies behind. That's why I did ask you for further elaboration and you did. It is appreciated. Plesae also understand that the border line between sculptures of arts and idols could be blurred (especially in China) if we are not careful. However, I want you to also know that I admire your gift, creativity and love to serve our Lord with it. Hope you enjoy the forum. Shalom Azure |

1994 | How is David's census considered sinful? | 2 Sam 24:3 | azurelaw | 188978
Dear daveriff2, I will try to answer as best as I can. David tends to rely on his force instead of God (see verse 3). He has always been relying on God to fight for him in the past no matter how many army he has got. But he is alert and quick to repent. (see verse 10) Also see how does David reply in verse 14 regarding the options of punishment given by God. I think David is a good example for us that even we sin with our folly, we have to be alert with what we have done and be quick to repent. Hope the above is helpful. Shalom Azure |

1995 | Worship in form of art | Ex 20:4 | azurelaw | 188975
Dear otahuti, Ex 20:4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.... 1/ Why do you think sculpting is a form of worship to God? 2/ Do you mean that you want to explain to children how people make their idols by sculpting? Thanks for your further elaboration. Shalom Azure |

1996 | INTIMENT RELATIONSHIP | John 3:18 | azurelaw | 188973
Dear Deborah, I would like to offer you the below scriptures. Words are capitalized for my emphasis. John 5:14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, "Behold, you have become well; DO NOT SIN ANYMORE, SO THAT NOTHING WORSE HAPPENS TO YOU." John 8:11 ...And Jesus said, "I DO NOT CONDEMN YOU, either. Go. FROM NOW ON SIN NO MORE." Shalom Azure |

1998 | Conditional organs donation | Matt 7:12 | azurelaw | 188950
Thanks to you both, WOS and Steve (humbledbyhisgrace), Amen, brothers. I failed to quote those scriptures to them during the discussion several months ago and I almost had the tendency to agree with them by that time. See, how we are easily blinded by our self-righteousness and arrogance. I am better equipped next time if similar discussion arises. Shalom Azure |

1999 | Conditional organs donation | Not Specified | azurelaw | 188944
We had once discussed about organs donation in a cell group gathering. One or two of us expressed that they would limit their donations to those patients who were not smokers, drugs users, drunkards, etc. Should christians limit the donation with those conditions? Any biblical view on that? Thanks. Shalom Azure |
