21 | Woman's sin worse than man's? | Eph 5:33 | glory777 | 65705
And thank God He did lay down the rule - although the feminist movement would not agree. Some interpret "Your desire shall be for your husband.." to mean wanting to dominate over him, and I think that is probably true. You can't have two heads in a corporation making different decisions and have a company survive- neither can a family have 2 heads making opposite decisions and still survive, as we have seen all too often in our culture. Yet, the "natural" tendency is to take dominion from the husband for so many wives, myself included. Yet what a release when you can turn that over. I think a lot of women don't understand because they have never tried it, it goes against what we have been trained and seems to make our role in the marriage seem less (srchng - yes, I am a woman!)when in fact, it gives us more time and energy to allow us to keep more of our focus on the role God intended for us to have. Sorry, Rabbi Mark- But not onlydoes it sound to me as though Adam passed the buck to Eve, but that he also passed the buck to God - The woman YOU gave me". You have given no proof that Adam wasn't there when Eve took of the fruit and I don't think you can find any, so your assumption that he wasn't there is just as valid as mine if I say he was. No condemnation here, just saying that this may be one area no one has proof of either way. I never thought of the matter that Adam wanted to share whatever Eve would have to face. Good food for thought. But is that rational and you don't have proof for that, either. No one forced it down his throat, it was his choice to choose his mate over God. Question - wasn't he, not only turning dominion of the earth over to Satan by his action, but also, in a sense, turning dominion over to his wife? Should start a war here with this one! Debbie |

23 | Where does this story come from? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 65065
This is an excellent book (written by Phillip Keller) but I do not recall anything about breaking a lamb's leg. However, I can see how that could be used in relating to what the Lord could do to us. If a shepherd has a lamb that is continually straying and other's are following it, in order to save it's life, a broken leg would limit it's mobility, even after it healed. Doesn't the Lord do that to us sometimes? If we are involved in hurtful practices or have other sins in our lives that He wants to remove from us in order to use us - this could be pride, lust, etc.- He could allow a very painful situation to arise that would remove us from this sin so that we could live and ultimatly reap the joys of being in closer fellowship with Him. FTimA- I see in your profile you believe denominationalism is of the devil. Does that mean anyone who is not of the denomination you believe is of the devil? If that is your theory, I question whether this is the place for you. There are other viewpoints on many denominational issues in this forum, and those of us who have been involved in the forum have respect for each other and their denominational disagreements. The main thing we will be judged on is our belief in Jesus Christ and that is the MAIN purpose of the forum, I believe. The other is to give clarity to scripture. If you belong to a particular church, you probably believe in what the prevailing attitude in that church believes scripture to mean. You will find different viewpoints here, and respect is given for others, as long as Jesus Christ is glorified. I can find disclaimers for everything you have written (look up tongues in the search box) but no one who doesn't believe it is written for today will believe, just as no one who does believe will agree with what you have said. And, ultimately, will it make a difference? You say none are active today, I say they all are active. Prophesying does not have to be a foretelling, but something the Lord feels the church needs to hear today, something in agreement with His word that is relevent to that particular time that needs to be addressed. If tongues, at that time, was a known language, why would they need an interpreter? And when the perfect is come, - I haven't seen yet. The perfect is when we are seeing the Lord face to face. Then the cloudiness will be gone. debbie |

25 | Joe, | Luke 23:43 | glory777 | 64353
Seeing as we are getting into a lotof conjecture here, may I add something? Isn't it possible He went to the "Hot, dry side" to show them, and all of those who try to turn hearts against God, that He conquered? Jesus won! Satan and his minions have no more power! I think instead of rubbing it in to those there, His presence would show them how wrong they were and how deserving they are of being where they are. At the great White Throne Judgement, everyone will see the Lord, also. I think those who have turned away from the Lord in this life will not really want to be seeing Him then, or ever, so it is His mercy and their choice, to be removed from His presence. As I said, I am just imagining, too, and wandering where wise men fear to tread - no comments about that last statement, PLEASE! Debbie |

26 | Joe, baptism required for Lord's Supper? | 1 Cor 11:27 | glory777 | 63171

Hank- Maybe I'm missing something here, but what about an older believer who had been indoctrinated about the Lord's supper but had never had the ooertunity to be baptized? When you live in a very small community in the north where the facilities do not have a baptismal (is that what it is called?) but the river has to suffice - yes, there are a lot of areas like this - mine included- that we have to wait until we can chop the ice off the water before we can partake of the Lord's supper? I am blessed to belong to a church (another small one) that has a man-made pond behind the church. After a few years of being a rededicated believer I found a place that I could be baptized! (Did I mention I have a phobia about leaches - blood suckers we call them, also?) Debbie |

29 | Verse Proving Devils Cant Hear Thoughts? | Ps 94:11 | glory777 | 62774
Mommapbs- Good reasoning. Because he has been around since before the creation of man, he is an expert at reading body language. He (Satan) can't be everywhere at once, but he can have those under him assigned to watch over and become expert in reading what we are doing. Could seem like he is reading our thoughts. He sure knows where to turn the screws! God bless- Debbie |

If what you are proposing is true, then she is always here and can hear everything I say and do. Even if I do something that would make God displeased, she sees that. Would that not cause her pain? I thought scripture says there is no pain in Heaven? The only ones we know of that scripture tells us about, who died and who returned and we know thier reactions was Samuel (give me others, if I missed any)and he was not happy about it, nor did he show any concern about his relatives here on earth. I don't know how those in Heaven view us living, I think their joy is just to be in the glory of the Lord. When we join them, they will remember and recognize us, but anything we have done on this earth will be as nothing to them, the hurt we have gone through or have caused will not be known to them. The joy will be that there will be one more worshipping God truly in spirit and in truth. Anyway, all this is moot, seeing as scripture can tell us nothing concrete about this. I do resent the time that is spent praying to others when it could be time praying to God and being in His presence and developing a closer relationship with Him. Debbie |

Emmaus- You could ask anyone to pray for you. However we were specificaly told to pray for each other. Old Uncle Bob, even if he is with the Lord, is not omnipresent, and if you think he can hear every prayer request you and every other person who may ask him to ask the Lord for a favor for you as his own personal request, you are giving him the power that only God has, and, specifically, the role that Jesus has with the Father. My mother passed away not too long ago. Do I believe she is "watching over me?" If she is, then the glory of the Lord must not be too impressive. Also the angels must not be doing their jobs. The angels have always been the ones to do the Lord's bidding, not those who have died. And they can't be in two places at one time, according to scripture. Can they hear more than one person praying at one time? How many churches are praying to Micahel? How many individuals? Which one is he standing by to hear it? Again, they are not God. To understand why it doesn't make sense to pray to anyone other than God, a good example would be if someone came to my husband and asked him if I had any thread that he could use. My husband wouldn't have a clue where it was and so would not have the power to get it for them. Now if that person came to me directly, I could get it for him, or give him a yes or no. What sense would it make not to go directly to the throne of grace and make our request known? We are to be bold, not go around every way, not trusting the Lord to know His own mind. I am sorry if I sound harsh. I just feel I was mislead for many years. Debbie |

EdB- Actually, Cain married the 418th of Adam and Eve's children (Gen 4:1 plus verse 17 equals 418) and the number for children therefore is 13 (4 plus 1 plus 8)! Which tells us that if you have 247 children (666 - 418 equals 248) that child will be the antichrist! Let's do the numerology thing again along with Cain's wife! Blessings my friend- Debbie |

EdB I believe the name came from a story circulating at the time about a group of brothers named "Winken, Blinken and Nod". Seeing as the other two were taken (scientists have yet to discover the location) Nod was chosen. Debbie |

If a question on the rapture comes up, I would applaud anyone who were to respond "Type in rapture in the search section"! There are some differences in the church that will not be resolved in this life, and we have overworked two of them lately in this forum. Debbie |

Praise God, Susan!!!! There are at least 12 - I have 11 of them. Yes, it is good fiction. I can't wait for 12. How much is based on fact? I would say none. After all, we have enough speculations with "experts" to back up our different views as to the end times just among we friends at the "forum"! Fact maybe as to the order of things happening - we know the first bowl comes before the second, etc. But it is good fiction, there could be a possibility that it would all go that way, but to give it to someone and say _ this is what you are in for if you don't accept Jesus? - Nah! Love to you all- Deb |

40 | Historical Christian Stance on Slavery? | Exodus | glory777 | 59901
Vanessa- I am no expert, but I think there were slaves in every people group and religion. When you read the book of Philemon, paul was writing about Onisimus who was a slave. He also addresses in other books how "masters" are to treat slaves and how slaves are to treat their masters. These are Christians he was writing to. By the way, what do they think our stand on slavery is? Debbie |
