101 | holding the light with dirty hands? | Matt 5:20 | glory777 | 15358
God's blessings on you, EbnZhr- You know, that's right. There had to have been shepherds to watch over the Temple sacrificial animals, too. I never thought of that. But the text doesn't go inot detail about who's sheep they were watching, and of course do to my upbringing, I placed them out in the hills or valley near Bethlehem (did Bethlehem have a temple?), not only keeping an ear on them, but also being alert to any wolves or bear that may wander near. But weren't the shepherds considered lower class citizens? And as far as the learned, didn't Jesus prefer the ones who were unlearned and unlovable and who had the most need? I don't know that much about sheep, but I do know they aren't real clean and usually do not have a good fragrance. Did these shepherds ever have access to religious teaching? More and more questions. Who was Natanyahu? So many questions. If you can, please E-mail me. I want to know more. In all things, praise Him- Debbie |

102 | Does this apply to Christians? | Matt 6:15 | glory777 | 15308
I still may not agree with you entirely, but I couldn't have said it better myself. We are 100 per cent in agreement on this one. My God will never leave me or forsake me. His Spirit dwells in me and I KNOW I am His child. And that is what counts! Praise to our God who reigns now and forever! Debbie |

Bill Mc- I think we are closer than it sounds. But I do have one question - Is it OK to tell God I am sorry when I goof up? Your siter in Christ- Debbie |

104 | How did Adam sin if he did KNOW sin. | Gen 2:17 | glory777 | 15041
Psalm16- They did realize they were doing wrong. They were given a choice, just as Lucifer was given a choice. God told them not to eat of the fruit and they chose to disobey Him. True, Eve was bequiled, caused to question but when she knew that the serpent was offering opposition to what God required, she knew it was wrong. Then she offered the fruit to Adam, who again had been told by God not to eat, and he gave over His obedience to God to following what Eve offered. Satan then became the dominant force to contend with. Instead of holy love and sex the way God intended it, lust came into the picture. Where before the body was pure and holy, it became a thing to be hidden. But I think it went even farther than that. Not only were the physical bodies covered up, but I would put forth the conjecture that their emotions and thoughts toward each other also became hidden. But the same things that caused Eve to sin and Adam to follow are still the things that Satan uses to get us to sin today. Lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and lust for power. Debbie |

Everyman standing might be fighting, but what about women and children? I think there will be small groups of people who could hide out, especially if they are prepared for what is to come. If they could survive in remote parts of the world, they could be the ones who would be living during the millenium. I know it says somewhere about a person being 100 years old and considered as a child during this time, so although people may die during this time, they will be VERY old. Debbie |

I also believe that the 144,000 who will be witnessing will not just be for the Jewish people. When you love Jesus, you don't just love a certain people group. Gentiles, I'm sure, will not be excluded from their witness. Nowhere does it say that the witnesses will be just from those in Israel, we have Jews in all parts of the world. Peace- debbie |

And yet, Ed, I know of people, who when the mention of Christ's returning have told me "I never heard of that". They don't see it as something that could really happen. All they see is salvation as having something to do with going to Heaven of Hell, and then don't realize that it is a heart issue. I think, when they see the people they love, who have told them what is required and they and other "fanatics" who have believed the same way are missing, they will know the truth. They know a little, but not all of the truth. Debbie |

Now, I am going to ask a serious question! The falling away - is this true Christians or those who go to church but don't have a relationship with the Lord Jesus? Because otherwise we are talking about once saved always saved, etc and are going to get into another impossible discussion. My personal take on the immediate end times event is the believers at that time will be taken away, but there is enough knowledge that many who knew but didn't really understand what being saved was all about will find out real fast and then will make a decision. It almost sounds as though only the Jews will have a chance to decide for Christ during the Tribulaion. There are so many people who are church goers that know a little, have heard a little, that if the rapture happens when they see it, they will know that what they had heard had truth to it and will decide for Christ. Or am I reading to much of the "Left Behind" books? Shame on you Nolan! Debbie |

OK all you guys- First of all, I don't think I want to rule. I love horses and I already have put in my application to clean the stables (Jesus will be riding a white horse, right?). Is the horse thing literal or not? If it is, you guys had better learn how to ride, because I think scripture mentions we will all be riding with Him when He returns to show Himself as Lord of Lords and King of Kings and takes over rule of the earth. Love you all- Debbie |

112 | Will it be our generation? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 14794
CDBJ- This isn't going to help you much, and I do know that if anyone can give you a date of Christ's return, they are not readers of the bible. I heard (or read) that Christians in other countries that are being persecuted for their faith, believe that they are in the beginning of the tribulation time. We who are in the "free" nations do not even have a clue. Yet the signs are everywhere that things are winding down faster and faster. How much longer will they go? How much longer will our Lord have patience until He says "Enough is Enough!" All the wondering and debate is not going to change a thing. He will start things when He sees fit. We just have to be ready. It doesn't matter who is right or wrong about the time, what matters is that He will be true to His word and will give us strength. When it happens, we will know, and not all the "I was right" or "I was wrong" is going to make a pinch of difference. But it is fasciniating speculating, isn't it? Peace in Christ- Debbie |

113 | Greek scholars, please help. | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 14792
Everyone sure seems to have made it sound logical that we will go through seeing some of the wonders that God will perform in the first 3 and a half years. All though I try to keep my eyes open to what the Lord is doing in miraculous ways (even the very tiny ones) I don't know if I would have the courage to see these - although the Hebrews were probably frightened, too, and He gave them strength. So, I hope that there was a slight mistake in translation and we are definitely "Pre-Trib"! Thank you all. God's special blessings on you. Debbie |

114 | Unbelieving or lukewarm? | NT general Archive 1 | glory777 | 14681
ren333 I am not so sure about your reference to Rev. 3:16. I think that a person can be born again but after that first love they go into neutral and just kind of sit and mold. There is still some life, but you realy have to search to find it. I think that kind of attitude makes the Lord nauseous, and although they are still His child, He is frustrated and upset by them. This is just my opinion, but it does spur me on when I think that my complacency just might cause my God to have that feeling toward me. Passion in Christ- Debbie |

115 | For Joe. | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 14678
Joe- I haven't been a life long believer, I am still learning. But I think if you have a real desire to totally know the Lord God who created all things and is impossible for us to understand all His ways, you would be a fool not to wonder about some things. The wondering brings you to answers sometimes, or just to more faith for those things that don't have an answer. But if you don't question, and dig (as the Bereans did and were commended for it) and wonder you will never learn. You also can become very stiff in your convictions to the point where you loose any contact with others because they don't measure up to your standard and they feel they can never measure up to yours. I know someone who is like that, and although he knows a lot about the bible, because of his impatience with those who are not as determined as he is, has turned a lot of people away. I am sorry, but the thought sometimes does cross my mind that everything has to have a beginning, due to my human nature. Then I have to remind myself that I have to just trust and believe. It is hard, sometimes, when you want to KNOW and understand that there are things that you just can't. But it took me a while in my walk to see this. Have compassion on those who are starting their walk or may just be at a questioning stage. Peace in Christ Debbie |

116 | How can Christ return be imminent? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 14674
You still haven't convinced me that pre-trib is not the valid time of the rapture of the saints. What is the purpose of the tribulation? Isn't it similar to what the Lord did to Pharaoh? The plagues didn't affect the Hebrews (His children). They were spared. So I believe that we will be spared. Rev. 3:10 also seems to promote that believers will be taken before the tribulation begins. Besides, I am not a very brave person:) Debbie |

117 | Divine Healing, True or False? | Matthew | glory777 | 13874
Kimberly- Got on this late, but I do believe God is a God who heals - if He wills it. It has to be left in His hands. Pray for healing, have others pray for your healing and, if your church believes in annointing with oil (James 5:14), as mine does, be annointed with oil. Then leave it in God's hands. Even Paul was not healed and Timothy suffered with stomach problems. I think their faith was stronger than any of ours, plus they had first hand experience from the ones who saw and knew Jesus. If giving meant you got back more money, why wasn't Paul rich? I'm sure he tithed and gave more than his tithe, yet he worked as a tent maker to make ends meet. I believe totally in the healing power of my God, I believe He can do healings miraculously, through doctors and medicine, or just through the way He made our bodies to heal. I also believe that sometimes He chooses not to (as I sit here with bronchitis!) but if we totally trust Him, He will give us the strength to go through whatever that we can give Him the glory. I believe that giving to the Lord (and I personally believe in tithing - but that has been discussed before and I won't go into that again - look it up on another thread), and giving more than what is required will result in being blessed by the Lord, if you give because you feel the Holy Spirit leading you to give and it is a joy - not because you are expecting to get benefits from it. It may not be a financial blessing, but you will be blessed, in the area that you need (not want). I am concerned about some of the preachers on TV misleading the viewers, also. What happens when people give and give and don't get back what they expect? Do they get a barrel of guilt or do they give up on God? I've seen this happen and I do believe this is the work of the enemy. Don't believe everything you hear. Use your own common sense, too, and don't just read what they tell you. Dig for yourself. God gave us a brain and scripture even commends the Bereans for searching out the scriptures. They didn't even take the apostles word for anything - they looked at it for themselves. God's peace. 119 | did judas eat at the last supper? | John | glory777 | 13397
Sam- What still blows my mind is the fact that, even knowing the Judas would betray Him, He still washed his feet along with the rest of the 12. Even after that, Judas turned on Him. Could we wash the feet of our enemies? What an example He gives us. Debbie |
