sjbdjb- It doesn't seem fair, it doesn't seem right and it looked as if God were sitting on His hands and saying "go for it", but He wasn't. Yes, He is in control of all things, but He also said life was not going to be easy. He did tell us that He would never leave us, He would give us strength to go through (not avoid) all things. We look at this and see a terrible tragedy. God is hurting for us. Remember when Lazarus was dead, how Jesus wept? He saw how his sisters were hurting. But He also saw what would come of the situation. We don't know God's plan for all of this. There are things we will never know until we see Him face to face, but there are times we have to just believe and trust. Even in the most horrible situations, God is there for you. Cry out to Him your feelings. If you are mad at Him, tell Him. God can handle anger. But He will also heal your spirit if you trust in Him and, if you look and see in the future, you may get some understanding of why this occurred. God's peace to you. Debbie |

23 | How do we know the Bible is the truth? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 18102
Steve- All of the above. And external sources are still proving the validity of it. But until one gives their heart to the Lord, it is just a book of facts and figures. After, it is life and your guide for living. I have heard of so many who have tried to prove it false and have ended up becoming Christians, as I am sure you have also, because it is truth. Debbie |

24 | How do we know the Bible is the truth? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 18103
Joe- Another book that can be received free over the internet is "More Than a Carpenter" by Josh McDowell. I guess this is only available if you live in the U.S. He wasn't convinced and looked for evidence that scripture concerning Christ was either true or false. This is a small book but filled with so much information. I don't know the address off hand, but if you search over the net, you will find it. Debbie |

25 | Juice/wine poll results? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 18783
Jensen- Add one more to results. Our church uses juice. I believe it is forthe fact that we do not want to be an influencer of anyone who may have had a drinking problem. I know in the Catholic church that I used to attend they use wine, one chalis with a person holding the chalis wiping off the area where the last person drank. I agree, I don't think the form of the elements is that important, but the "Do this in memory of me" is what matters. Blessings- Debbie |

Ed- I know that D. James Kennedy has a series (?) about astrology and how it relates to Christ and the things of Christianity. You might want to check into that. Debbie |

27 | DOES GOD AGREE WITH CREMATION | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 36245
tomn- Cremation is nothing like hell. In Hell you are aware. It is eternal seperation from God. It is total isolation (perhaps you can here the cries and wails of the other damned) and yes, it is a constant burning, as scripture states, but you are never consumed. With cremation, the remains can be treated with respect. This may get some controversy, but when Jesus rose from the dead, He had His physical body but it was transformed. We will be seen as He is when we are called by Him either before death or after. And we will be recognized by others as Samuel was recognized by Saul. I also think all our disfigurements and scars will be washed away at that time, or if they aren't, whey will have no importance, because all we will see is the Savior and the Savior's light in each believer that is with us. 30 | DOES GOD AGREE WITH CREMATION | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 38282
No, I do think that Jesus body did have some of this world in it, as far as appearance and some functions go. Remember, He ate with the disciples after His ressurrection, He walked and talked and had a body that could be touched and I assume was warm to the touch. However, the molecular structure was changed because He could walk through doors and vanish and reappear where He wishes. I also know that we will see the bodies of those saints who have died before, join the Lord in the air when He calls, before we rise to meet Him. So, no matter what state our bodies are in at death, or if there is an intact body, it will rise when Jesus calls, whole but transformed. By your reasoning, those people who were burned at the stake, those who have been dismembered or consumed by animals or who have lost parts of their bodies will not have those parts or will not be able to join the Lord with a body. I say if He can make man out of dust, He can find those parts or put together the ashes to form a body, changed as He is. Personally, I don't care what happens to my body after I die. I just think cremation is easier and takes up less space and you don't have to put the burden on your children and grandchildren of going out to a grave site and crying over a stone and bringing back painful memories. You also don't put them through the day or days of sitting and looking at a dead body and going through hours of exhaustion. (My husband says we have a burning barrel in our back yard - that will be just fine with me!:) Deb |

31 | Lord of the Sabbath is he not | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 43064
joe- Something mulling in my mind....Could it be that the first two commandments deal with our relationship with the Lord and the last 7 deal with relationship with others. But the one about the Sabbath was made for us - pre-Christ when sacrifices had to be made regularly? The ultimate sacrifice was made when Christ died, therefore, a specific day is not needed anymore. Only a time to meet regularly for mutual edification in the Lord. Paul says we are not to be observers of days and festivals. I think this is the only time a commandment was contradicted. Debbie |

32 | Who made Sunday a day of worship | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 43067
That's right - Jesus did keep the Sabbath - as a perfect fulfilment of all the Law - so we don't have to. We are now under a higher law - to fulfil it in heart. We do not need to do all the things that the pre-Christ Jews had to do, He did it for us. Debbie |

33 | Are we expected to keep the sabath? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 43143
And fulfil it He did. And if you choose to follow Jewish tradition of having your day of rest on Saturday, so be it. But if you make it a demand that one day is the day you have to, you are throwing out the verse in Colossians about observing days, etc. How do you reconcile that verse with making Saturday or Sunday such a major issue? Or is that verse, built upon the freedom the Lord puchased for us through His blood, to be ignored? What was the purpose of giving us the Sabbath? For our benefit! God knew we needed one day in 7. Not that a particular named day was the only one to benefit us. Because we believe in Christ, we can have our day in 7 as the Lord's day - Sunday. For those who are of Jewish faith and do not believe in Christ - tradition and OT command is still binding as Saturday. I choose to honor my Savior by participating in group worship on the day He arose and the days He reappeared to His disciples and also sent the Holy Spirit. I don't think when I appear before Him, that He is going to condemn me for worshipping on ANY day! Praising God Always! Debbie |

So you are saying that if someone does not keep the Sabbath they are to be put to death? Will they go to Hell, too? Sounds a little severe to me. debbie |

35 | Is speaking in tongues for today? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 47115
Searcher- You know I am Pentecostal and I am not saying a person is not Christian nor filled with the Holy Spirit if they don't speak in tongues. But I believe Corinthians states "tongues of men or angels". I have heard of people speaking in tongues and having a person from another country that they have never been to understanding what was being said. I speak in tongues, but I have never felt led to use it publicly and it is not just for display. It is used for my own personal prayer life and if ever a time in history that personal edification was needed, today is just as needful as 1900 years ago. This subject has been gone over and over so many times in the forum. There are those who believe in them, and those who don't and only when the Lord comes, when they aren't needed anymore, will the REAL truth come out! Peace in Christ- Debbie |

36 | For Ed B. | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 47116
EdB- One other thing. You can give because you are required to until you are blue in the face. If you give 1 per cent begrudgingly you might as well keep it. And if you give because you want to get something back - keep it. If you give joyfully, rejoicing that the Lord has blessed you with what is His and ask Him to multiply what you have given for His glory you will see results of your giving. 2 Cor. 9:7 states God loves a cheerful giver. I love the word for "cheerful." Strong's gives it as hilaros. Does it ring a bell? Do we give hilariously? Debbie |

I am sorry, Searcher. I think that was beneath you. As I stated before, this is a subject we will never agree on, but I know I am not alone in my beliefs. I also do not force them on anyone. Nor do I try to humiliate anyone because of theirs. Debbie |

38 | is masterbation a sin explain thxs | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 47773
SERENETIME- I can't figure out what the big question is here. God made man and woman to complement each other. He also states it is better to marry than to burn (with passion). There is nothing saying anything that solo sex is alright or an alternative. It also gives guidelines for not having sex with your spouse. There are cravings the body has and if let loose can gain control. The Lord always leaves a way out - usually prayer and turning to him. Sexual pleasure was made for one thing - to bring a man and wife closer together and for propagation. That is the ONLY place sex is acceptable. And yes, the bible says it is sin, not specifically, but it doesn't have too. Not for someone who truly wants to follow the Lord's will and not look for a way out of it. Debbie |

39 | Can anyone answer these simple questions | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 48411
luvconquers- It is a shame what atrocities are done in the name of religion - not just Christianity but all religions. But you have to look at the fruits of what people are doing to see how they stand in their faith. Christ preached love, God is a God of love and justice, patience and longsuffering. You have to read His word and look at the recurring theme. He sent His only Son to die the most horrible of deaths so you and I could stand righteous before Him, if we accept the sacrifice He made. We are to be like Him. He loved us, no matter what. Can we do anything less to others? Anyone that teaches or acts any different is not true to the Word of God or to what Jesus taught. It is their works that will tell you if they are true to what they confess to be. I am a Christian. I try to mold my life after Christ's. I am also human and fail, but I repent of my failures and, with God's help, will come a little closer to where God wants me to be tomorrow. I do know, the promises He makes me in His word are true. He gives peace. He gives joy. He gives strength. And He gives the ability to forgive. He also gives the ability to love - no matter what is done to me, and in being able to pray for and love (now I did not say "like"!), I have found my perception of others has changed. I don't know if this helps. I wish I could talk to you. But your bitterness and anger will only grow like fire. Those were not Christian you were talking about, but Satan sure used them to get you and others to question and rail at those who are. Just what he wanted. If I can help, please E-mail me at the address given in my profile with "forum" in the subject line. I pray that God will show Himself to you for what He truly is. I pray that He will give you peace and love and the joy that only He can give, for He is the author of it. Debbie |

40 | LEFT BEHIND? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 60131
Praise God, Susan!!!! There are at least 12 - I have 11 of them. Yes, it is good fiction. I can't wait for 12. How much is based on fact? I would say none. After all, we have enough speculations with "experts" to back up our different views as to the end times just among we friends at the "forum"! Fact maybe as to the order of things happening - we know the first bowl comes before the second, etc. But it is good fiction, there could be a possibility that it would all go that way, but to give it to someone and say _ this is what you are in for if you don't accept Jesus? - Nah! Love to you all- Deb |
