81 | Cherubim | Ezekiel | glory777 | 11592
Hi TOFT- If you read in Ezekial, the only thing about cherubim that remotely resembles anything human is one of the faces had a man's face. The rest was a mixture of animal and bird and "wheel within a wheel". It boggles the mind. Debbie |

82 | What does standing in the gap mean? | Ezek 22:30 | glory777 | 8086
This can also be an example of what we can do on a personal level. A friend of mine lost her young son (early 20's), his wife and unborn child in a motorcycle-semitruck accident. As you can imagine, she was despondent and grief stricken for a long time, striking out at the God she had loved for so long. She told me if it weren't for the people that were "standing in the gap" for her, praying and interceding for her when she couldn't pray for herself because of her anger at God and her despair, she might never have come back to the God that was calling her.
83 | Anti Christ? Is America Babylon or Iraq? | Daniel | glory777 | 47140
farout- Many of his books have come out way before the Left Behind books were ever published. Also, the majority of the information he uses is also agreed with by Pastor John Hagee and many others. If we can not glean information by studies others have done, why bother with asking anyone anything? As I said, you have to check things out for yourself. Even those who have studied things in the New testament cannot agree on everything, let alone prophesies that involve future events. I say, go to different sources for information and ALWAYS check back with what the Bible says and use that as your bedrock. Debbie |

ianjon- please do not repeat your words and run them together. It makes for very difficult reading and understanding. I think all of us on the forum would appreciate it. Thanks, Debbie |

86 | What kind of whale swallowed Jonah? | Jonah | glory777 | 10910
You know John Morris? I have heard of him and do go to his web site. It's given me a lot of answers to give to people who have had questions over the years. There's is the idea of taking God's Word as truth and seeing if science is true in relation to it, not the world's way, whish is just the opposite. Awesome site. Debbie |

87 | When a prophet? | Nahum | glory777 | 10949
I wonder if Nineveh would have been so quick to fall again had Jonah stayed around the first time to give them proper teaching. It is my understanding that the reason Jonah didn't want to go in the first place is because Nineveh was a Gentile city and a good Jew had nothing to do with Gentiles (unclean). Did they even know anything about Moses and the law and God in general other than they sinned against Him? They were prophesied to by a man who didn't like them and wanted nothing to do with them. I think it is amazing they repented at all. Debbie |

89 | Divine Healing, True or False? | Matthew | glory777 | 13874
Kimberly- Got on this late, but I do believe God is a God who heals - if He wills it. It has to be left in His hands. Pray for healing, have others pray for your healing and, if your church believes in annointing with oil (James 5:14), as mine does, be annointed with oil. Then leave it in God's hands. Even Paul was not healed and Timothy suffered with stomach problems. I think their faith was stronger than any of ours, plus they had first hand experience from the ones who saw and knew Jesus. If giving meant you got back more money, why wasn't Paul rich? I'm sure he tithed and gave more than his tithe, yet he worked as a tent maker to make ends meet. I believe totally in the healing power of my God, I believe He can do healings miraculously, through doctors and medicine, or just through the way He made our bodies to heal. I also believe that sometimes He chooses not to (as I sit here with bronchitis!) but if we totally trust Him, He will give us the strength to go through whatever that we can give Him the glory. I believe that giving to the Lord (and I personally believe in tithing - but that has been discussed before and I won't go into that again - look it up on another thread), and giving more than what is required will result in being blessed by the Lord, if you give because you feel the Holy Spirit leading you to give and it is a joy - not because you are expecting to get benefits from it. It may not be a financial blessing, but you will be blessed, in the area that you need (not want). I am concerned about some of the preachers on TV misleading the viewers, also. What happens when people give and give and don't get back what they expect? Do they get a barrel of guilt or do they give up on God? I've seen this happen and I do believe this is the work of the enemy. Don't believe everything you hear. Use your own common sense, too, and don't just read what they tell you. Dig for yourself. God gave us a brain and scripture even commends the Bereans for searching out the scriptures. They didn't even take the apostles word for anything - they looked at it for themselves. God's peace. 90 | Divine Healing? | Matthew | glory777 | 72078
Jesified- There is a little book written by Joni Earikson Tada, I'm not sure of the title - "A Step Farther" perhaps. But she went through the healing ministries and anything that offered any hope to the removal of her paralysis. As you know she is still in a wheelchair. She still believes that God does heal, but had a bigger plan for her life than just physical wellness. She has touched many more people for Him in her chair than she would have on two good legs. I am not saying that God doesn't want us all healthy. He wants us all saved, too. He doesn't want this world as it is now. He does have the power to do whatever He wants, as long as it is in the parameters He has set. If God expected every believer to be healthy, wealthy and wise, why did Jesus give us the beatitudes? One reason we are allowed to suffer is given in 2 Cor. chapter 1. Sometimes we are not allowed in this life to know why. But if we who believe would live without trouble and sickness, how close would we stay to the Lord? We are also able to draw closer to Him through trials of ALL kinds. Jesus said we would face persecution for His sake. That meant and still means in other areas of the world, property being seized, assests held, and physical violence and death. Are you saying that the people who live in those countries don't have enough faith? I think there is a very real problem with a lot of the TV preacher's theology. I am pentecostal, I do believe that healing is done on a miraculous scale if the Lord wills it. I believe we are to ask, believing. But if the Lord wills for me to go through the fire so I can bring others to Him or to be a comfort to others, so be it. His will is perfect. Debbie |

91 | Divine Healing? | Matthew | glory777 | 72111
You are right, God is not the source for sickness, disease, etc., but He does allow it. 2 Cor. 1:4-8 was talking about the afflictions Paul was suffering and he wrote saying that as they were comforted by God, so they could comfort others. Also, there was an instance where Jesus "undid" the Father's work. Actually, it was a working together in the overall plan. When Jesus healed the man who was blind from birth. Was it a lack of faith, I might add, along with sin as the disciples asked, that caused the man to be born blind? Jesus healed the man of his blindness for a reason. If our faith is what keeps us healthy in every case, why wasn't Paul healed and Timothy? You can give a lot of verses for "faith" healing, and I agree with them, but why do you continue to throw out the ones that don't agree with your way of thinking, that even the greatest men of faith had sickness that even faith and prayer would not relieve? Only the grace of God gave them strength to bear it. Is that not also an example for us? We need to read the whole word of God and use it all. Debbie |

92 | holding the light with dirty hands? | Matt 5:20 | glory777 | 15358
God's blessings on you, EbnZhr- You know, that's right. There had to have been shepherds to watch over the Temple sacrificial animals, too. I never thought of that. But the text doesn't go inot detail about who's sheep they were watching, and of course do to my upbringing, I placed them out in the hills or valley near Bethlehem (did Bethlehem have a temple?), not only keeping an ear on them, but also being alert to any wolves or bear that may wander near. But weren't the shepherds considered lower class citizens? And as far as the learned, didn't Jesus prefer the ones who were unlearned and unlovable and who had the most need? I don't know that much about sheep, but I do know they aren't real clean and usually do not have a good fragrance. Did these shepherds ever have access to religious teaching? More and more questions. Who was Natanyahu? So many questions. If you can, please E-mail me. I want to know more. In all things, praise Him- Debbie |

93 | How should we deal with difficult people | Matt 5:39 | glory777 | 7311
I know the first thing I try to do (and the right thing to do) is to pray for them. Romans 12:14 says to bless them. It is amazing how your attitude changes toward the ones you pray for. But I don't think if we are slapped on one cheek we should stick our other cheek on the person's fist. Even Jesus overturned the money changer's tables. But I know, from personal experience, that retaliaton does not portray what a Christian is. If it is a difficult situation, and you have done whatever you can do to extricate yourself from the situation, consider it as persecution and as an opportunity to show, without words, what Jesus would do.
94 | Does this apply to Christians? | Matt 6:15 | glory777 | 15303

I still may not agree with you entirely, but I couldn't have said it better myself. We are 100 per cent in agreement on this one. My God will never leave me or forsake me. His Spirit dwells in me and I KNOW I am His child. And that is what counts! Praise to our God who reigns now and forever! Debbie |

96 | Origins of baptism.... | Matt 7:13 | glory777 | 8565
I'm not sure, but I thought I read somewhere or heard, that when Gentiles believed in the Jehovah and became Jews, baptism was used as an outward sign of their conversion. Heard anything about that? That was pre-John the Baptist days. |

98 | Please explain | Matt 7:13 | glory777 | 8569
Aren't we getting awfully complicated on all this? I thought water meant human birth - or being in the water before birth. Can't we just take things as they appear without getting so technical?
99 | Spirtual Gifts | Matt 7:13 | glory777 | 64969
FTimA- I see in your profile you believe denominationalism is of the devil. Does that mean anyone who is not of the denomination you believe is of the devil? If that is your theory, I question whether this is the place for you. There are other viewpoints on many denominational issues in this forum, and those of us who have been involved in the forum have respect for each other and their denominational disagreements. The main thing we will be judged on is our belief in Jesus Christ and that is the MAIN purpose of the forum, I believe. The other is to give clarity to scripture. If you belong to a particular church, you probably believe in what the prevailing attitude in that church believes scripture to mean. You will find different viewpoints here, and respect is given for others, as long as Jesus Christ is glorified. I can find disclaimers for everything you have written (look up tongues in the search box) but no one who doesn't believe it is written for today will believe, just as no one who does believe will agree with what you have said. And, ultimately, will it make a difference? You say none are active today, I say they all are active. Prophesying does not have to be a foretelling, but something the Lord feels the church needs to hear today, something in agreement with His word that is relevent to that particular time that needs to be addressed. If tongues, at that time, was a known language, why would they need an interpreter? And when the perfect is come, - I haven't seen yet. The perfect is when we are seeing the Lord face to face. Then the cloudiness will be gone. debbie |
