AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 5:39 "But I say to you, do not resist an evil person [who insults you or violates your rights]; but whoever slaps you on the right cheek, turn the other toward him also [simply ignore insignificant insults or trivial losses and do not bother to retaliate--maintain your dignity, your self-respect, your poise]. Subject: How should we deal with difficult people |
Bible Note: I know the first thing I try to do (and the right thing to do) is to pray for them. Romans 12:14 says to bless them. It is amazing how your attitude changes toward the ones you pray for. But I don't think if we are slapped on one cheek we should stick our other cheek on the person's fist. Even Jesus overturned the money changer's tables. But I know, from personal experience, that retaliaton does not portray what a Christian is. If it is a difficult situation, and you have done whatever you can do to extricate yourself from the situation, consider it as persecution and as an opportunity to show, without words, what Jesus would do. |
