AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 5:39 "But I say to you, do not resist an evil person [who insults you or violates your rights]; but whoever slaps you on the right cheek, turn the other toward him also [simply ignore insignificant insults or trivial losses and do not bother to retaliate--maintain your dignity, your self-respect, your poise]. Bible Question (short): When to turn your cheek and when not to? |
Question (full): I have a question about what the bible says about codependent behavior.I understand Jesus says to turn the other cheek and forgive. But it doesn't mean let yourself be a fool and let yourself be used and abused by people, surely? Say your being abused by whoever(anyone); but the person thinks its ok to let them because they think God wants them to and just turn cheek and endure it.What does it say about when enough is enough,go away from the abuser(s)?Surely GOD doesn't want us to allow abuse does he?I'm confused about this. |
