21 | Do we understand suffering in delighting | Ps 37:4 | Mommapbs | 215838
Greetings Doc - I am well, thank you! I thank God for His hand of healing in my body. But I am still suffering. The Sea of What If rages at times . . . When one member suffers we all suffer. That's why we pray. Just knowing that others are praying with and for me makes all the difference at times. There is great comfort here. The suffering of Jesus is beyond my comprehension. Indeed, by His stripes we are healed. Recently, so many people around me have suffered great tragedies, grief that I can not imagine how one bears. And yet I am reminded than the ultimate tragedy is not knowing the LORD. I was recently asked if during my illness I ever felt abandoned by the church. Absolutely. But NEVER by the LORD! He brought HIS people to minister to me - some were believers, others were not. Amazing! Suffering teaches one to depend upon God, for HE is the only source of peace, comfort and security. My own suffering does not compare to that of those who have lost loved ones in recent days and I find I have no words to offer except Psalm 37:4. Flee to Him, rejoice in Him, abide in Him and He will give His desires to fill empty and broken hearts. He is the God of all compassion; He knows our griefs yet we have the joy of seeing His face through it all. Re: hopalong; I pray that he will always know the joy of the LORD'S presence and agree that these present sufferings are not worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed . . . Choosing to obey God is a matter of will; doing it is the work of the Holy Spirit. So much of the time I have focused my prayer: “Lord, make my life count;” when it should be, “Lord, make YOUR life in me accomplish YOUR purpose.” I think that my prayers have changed as I have learned to "delight in the Lord." He gives me new desires, His. I find that I am often overwhelmed by the shadow of cancer in my life, so perhaps the suffering of others in recent days has been used by God to revel my self focus; to draw my attention toward others and Himself and perhaps to better understand the fellowship of His suffering . . . I still struggle, sometimes it is a battle best fought in the Garden where I see the example of surrender; I see the Cross; but more importantly, I know there is an empty tomb. This gives me hope. May you continue to tell of His excellent greatness, recount His works, praise Him continually. May you know Him to make Him known. mommapbs |

22 | Do we understand suffering in delighting | Ps 37:4 | Mommapbs | 215830
Gentle John - the suffering I am asking about is not the LORDs' for you are right, we can not begin to understand let alone compare . . . I am thinking about the suffering we experience. How our desires to escape suffering might hinder the work that God intends to do through the suffering. I'm sorry for the confusion here. I'll try to be more direct if I ask a question again.
23 | Do we understand suffering in delighting | Ps 37:4 | Mommapbs | 215824
Searcher, me? Force Scripture? What point is that? I do rather like it when I discover some consistencies though It seems to me that this passage speaks more about a process that takes place; learning to trust God so that when we experience the suffering of life, we will respond from that point of delighting and the desires of our hearts reflect God's will. In the midst of tragedy, it is easy to want revenge, to blame to dwell in anger. Are these born out of one who is "delighting in the Lord? So much of the time we are concerned about control rather than the big picture that God has in mind. His kingdom; His righteousness, His glory . . . somehow the things that we suffer, over which we have no control play a part in the grand plan of God - the redemption of man and the restoration of His creation. I think that the desire to see God as He is,as He reveals Himself to us, it is also part of delighting in Him. Any man-based thought of God, any limitation we might conjure up, is unworthy of Him.(Tozer) When we suffer loss, do we delight in God? I suspect the answer is found as we examine our desires: do we want sympathy or pity - attention; for pain to be taken away - physical or emotional? The desire to avoid pain is part of our human nature. I believe that Jesus is fleshing this out in the Garden for us; He is teaching us how to respond: this is the way, walk in it comes to mind. His final response, His desire to trust God for the outcome follows His delighting in the Father. He and the Father were One; He knows the Father perfectly. I'm still struggling with this issue, but I'm learning. A faith that isn't tested can't be trusted. Thankfully Jesus, the object of our faith can be! Blessings to you. mommapbs |

24 | Who is the strong man? | Mark 3:27 | Mommapbs | 208546
Great answer - thanks; I suspect that this might also reference the time when Satan is bound after the return of Christ . . . but the primary focus imo is just as you stated - no one is stronger than God. He cannot be overcome. Again, my opionion - too few believers appropriate His power in their lives!"Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world!" 1 John 4:4 Blessings, mommapbs |

25 | Who is recorded in the book of life? | Ps 69:28 | Mommapbs | 207005
Greetings Hank - thank you so much for your encouragement. Today, I see so much more clearly why I have walked this road as I am given oportunities to minister to others who are facing similar challenges. Fifteen years ago, when our teen-aged son was Dx with cancer, I remember asking "Why? Why our son; why our family?" And now, a year after I have suffered through chemo myself, I hear God's answer loud and clear as our neighbor's teenage son was just Dx with cancer. Indeed we are to comfort others as we have been comforted! Although the journey is rough and often uncertain, it is a privilege and a blessing to walk with the King. Blessings to you and yours - mommapbs
26 | Who is recorded in the book of life? | Ps 69:28 | Mommapbs | 206255
Greetings unction - it has been almost one year since my last chemo treatment. I do not miss those days BUT I wouldn't trade the experience with the LORD through this time for anything. Apart from HIM, I can do nothing. (John 15:5) Blessings, mommapbs PS: To date I remain in remission. Thank you for your continued prayer. Please pray for perseverence as I put down in words the Journey so far . . . to God be the glory. Btw, it wasn't the bones that had power - it was all of God. Sometimes God has to take people out of the way so others can truly see HIM. He who loses his life will find it! When I'm gone, my prayer is that what I write (what the Lord writes through me)will be an instrument of God's power in the lives of others until we all meet again. |

27 | Two different groups of 144,000? | Rev 14:1 | Mommapbs | 204127
Greeetings Thomas 8 - according to Hebrews 9:12 they are redeemed. The distinction I was making in this comparison was that this group from Rev 7 was just from Israel. The group in Rev 14 is from the greater world - Heavenly Patterns duplicated on earth was the subject. Blessings, mommapbs
28 | What is a counted all joy in trials? | James 1:2 | Mommapbs | 199480
Greetings Doc - as I study James and ponder this notion of joy in trials, I'm wondering if we need to look at the little word "it." What does "it" refer to? Might "it" be referencing verse 12 - "Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him." We rejoice because our names are written in Heaven (Luke 10:20);we take joy in knowing that regardless of what we are going through now, our reward is in Heaven (Mt 5:12) - so we can be glad as we wait patiently (endure) here in this life. Is there a connect here? (see also 1 Peter 1:7) Blessings, mommapbs |

Cheri - another thing that struck me was the passage in Genesis after the fall of man. See Gen 3:22-24. Man, spoiled by sin, was not to live forever. . . but if anyone is IN CHRIST - he/she is a "new creature!" 2 Cor 5:17 mommapbs |

32 | God working for our good | Rom 8:28 | Mommapbs | 198837
Greetings Azure, Thank you for the welcome! Yes, I am recovering. I had four months of chemo and a little more than six weeks of radiation. I recently had some additional surgery but I am beginning to feel "normal" (if there is such a thing) again. I still get tired, but I am so glad to be able to think clearly - the drugs really scambled my brain for a while! God protected my body - I never had a cold or the flu the whole time I was in treatment - but I did get very sick from it! God taught me so many wonderful things I wouldn't trade this for anything. Along with God's Word, I read Tozer's "Knowing God" a couple of times during my illness - great book. I look forward to whatever God has in store for me next - what an adventure life is with Him! Blessings, mommapbs |

35 | God working for our good | Rom 8:28 | Mommapbs | 198834
Greetings Doc - thank you for your prayers and kind words. I am sorry to learn about your father. I sorrow and celebrate with you. Thank you for your posts. I'm getting ready to begin an inductive study of James and as I was reading God does not tempt, it got me to thinking that since God works everything together for good for Christ followers, then even the temptations of Satan can ultimately bring God glory. Ponder this a bit with me. Even the temptation of Christ was used according to God's purpose (for His glory and our good), to provide the perfect sacrifice; like us but without sin. Not that we should yield to temptation, (Paul addresses this well in Romans!) but if and when we do sin, repentance is a God glorifying response. This brought to mind the verse in 1 Timothy - that Satan was used by God to teach these individuals not to blaspheme. Might God allow Satan to be at work to teach/correct us today? I'm not advocating a "victim mentality" here, and I'm certainly not blaming disease or calamity on Satan - he's a light weight. We are so blessed to have God as our Sovereign! I've had quite a journey this past year. Wouldn't wish it on anyone, but I wouldn't trade it for the world - God has been SO amamzing and SO GOOD to me! I am in recovery mode - had my first hair cut last week! (I get such a kick out of strangers who remark how they like my haircut! I suspect they are thinking, "She's bold to wear her hair so short!" If only they knew how I "earned" this!) How thankful I am that my life is in God's hands. Blessings, mommapbs |

36 | Same supper as John 12? | Luke 10:38 | Mommapbs | 184388
Thank you for your encouragement and prayers Hank. Uncertainty is a gift from God for it causes us to depend upon Him alone. "The Kite" summarizes where I am: "Come fly with Me," said the Lord. "No, I will fall. "Come fly with Me," said the Lord. "No, I am scared." "Come fly with Me," said the Lord. "No, I don't want to." So, He pushed me and I flew. Free to soar on the winds of His faithfulness. Strenghtened by trust made secure by past trials. Connected by the bonds of His love; held safely in His Hands. Blessings to you and yours! In Christ, trish (mommapbs) |

38 | Same supper as John 12? | Luke 10:38 | Mommapbs | 184357
Thank you jonp - here is a quote from CS Lewis on "secondary things". “Put first things first and we get second things thrown in; put second things first and we lose both first and second things.” Edwards (Revolution Within) puts this in very practical terms by suggesting that when we approach God as a “Fixer of life” with our needs as His prime agenda, our lives will fail to reflect His glory and we will fail to experience change and fulfillment in the deepest richest sense. He foes on to observe, “When we delight most in the spectacularness of God, when HIS glory becomes OUR highest agenda, we find a taste that thrills our souls PLUS a nonstop transformation in our lives along the way.” This might give some food for thought on Mary and Martha as well. 39 | Did Moses seen God face to face? | Ex 33:20 | Mommapbs | 176079
Greetings Tim! Is there a connection with this verse and Hebrews 6:4-6? God reveals of Himself to man and once man has "seen" God as He IS (Jesus - "he who has seen Me has seen the Father", comes to mind), his response determines his destiny. I'd appreciate your comments. Blessings, mommapbs |

40 | Significance of steps? | Ex 20:26 | Mommapbs | 175918
I had heard that too Mark, - in the preceding verse they are warned not to use any tool on the stones of the altar. This makes me think that steps have some other significance too. Just wondering . . . Blessings, mommapbs |
