201 | God loves that you love | 1 John 4:18 | Searcher56 | 217116
Wofa Ato, I am sorry one more quesion ... Let us look at the immediate context of this verse. 1 John 4:17 By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. 1 John 4:19 We love, because He first loved us. 1 John 4:20 If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. 1 John 4:21 And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also. Verse 17 says the fear about the judgment (of God) ... so where do you see the devil in this? |

Wofa Ato, Fear and love can work together. Last question - for now. What say you to this verse? Deut 10:12 "Now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require from you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, Searcher |

Wofa Ato, Question 2. Who has "faith in the devil's ability to harm you" Matthew 10:28 says "Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Again, read the context ... oh yes there is fear again. Question 3 Do your not fear God? Question 4 Read the the book of Job. Who is one who the one who harmed Job? Read the first two chapters. While I know the devil can harm me, he cannot touch my soul. Searcher |

204 | God loves that you love | 1 John 4:18 | Searcher56 | 217113
God's day to you, Wofa Ato, and welcome to the SBF, I am going to ask you several questions. What "fear is perverse faith"? I fear the Lord, my God. Three verses - read their context. John 9:31 "We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him. Acts 9:31 So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase Cornelius was a righteous and God-fearing (Acts 10:2, 10:22). 205 | wide or narrow road? | Matt 7:13 | Searcher56 | 216927
God's day to you, Doc, You may be right. "So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable" (1Co 15:42). I was thinking to those disintegrated, by explosion, even time ... some of us are are near that state while living. Plus, those ingested. And if you believe babies who die go to God ... it will be amazing to see what we look like when we all get to see Jesus. Searcher |

207 | Why do we delay baptism, not His Supper? | Bible general Archive 4 | Searcher56 | 216782
Justme, I had this thought as I was typing the previous post to you. If ensuring "genuine belief" is the reason, then should the church stop people from "going forward" ... I am thnking more for those who are saved outside the four walls. After all, they may be making a false confession. At communion we examine ourseleves, not the pastor. Searcher |

208 | Should we dedicate older children to Him | 1 Sam 1:28 | Searcher56 | 216781
God's day to you, Justme, While I have not seen anything in writing, I have not seen any school age children dedicated. I have been in serveral churches. I have seen parents led ro Christ (as part of EE, CWT or FAITH) with school age children. It did not occur to me that these young people were forgotten. This is another area of study I need/want to do. Pray for me as I do. Searcher |

God's day to you, Justme, Communion should be open to all believers, after they examine themselves (1Co 11:23ff). Nowhere in Scripture is the qualification of being baptized first. Questions for you as you study ... -Are believers part of the body of believers the moment they are saved? -Are believers part of the body of Christ the moment they are saved? -Are believers by the Spirit the moment they are saved? ... if we cannot answer yes toeach one, are new believers second class until they do something or reach a certain understanding? No one has ever given me a solid Biblical answer to wait for external baptism. No one has an answer about the book of Acts, where six of the seven conversion experiences the believers were baptized the same day believed, ... and why we we wait. The exception was Paul. 211 | Does God hate people? Psalm 5:5 | Ps 5:5 | Searcher56 | 216766
God's day to you, hopalong, In post 216711 I said God hates people. God does hate certain groups of people (Pro 6:16-19) ... as well as Esau (Mal 1:3; Rom 9:13). Pro 6:16 There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: 17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, 19 A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers. God's day to you, again, Justme, He has granted us another day, all days are His. He lets us live each day, rejoice and be gald in it. I am one to let the minor differences not bother me. I also have changed my views on several minor issues. We need to be willing to do so, even if it is to flip flop, like on women preachers. Searcher |

213 | can a child be baptised | Bible general Archive 4 | Searcher56 | 216712
God's day to you, Justme, I was saved at five (in Japan), too, but my water baptism was delayed until I was nine, when we were back in the USA – CHRISTMAS, 1960. If we study the book of Acts, six of the seven conversion experiences the believers were baptized the same day believed. The exception was Paul. I included 2:47, 4:4 and 8:14-17 because the Bible does say how soon after salvation these were baptized. -2:41 ... 3,000 saved and baptized the same day -2:47 ... many daily -4:4 ... 5,000 saved -8:14-17 ... Samaritans -8:34-39 ... Ethiopian saved and baptized the same day -9:5-19 ... Paul saved but baptized three days later - 10:44-48 ... Cornelius (and his house) saved and baptized the same day -16:14-15 ... Lydia saved and (and her house) baptized the same day -16:31-34 ... Jailer saved and (and his house) baptized the same day -19:5-7 ... About 12 disciples of John saved and baptized the same day So why do we wait? Do we say believers who are not baptized are excluded from the Lord’s Supper? Notice that it says only Lydia and the jailer were saved … but their house was baptized. I believe that may have included children. The Bible doesn't say either way. Let me start by saying I grew up in a Pietistic Baptist (Baptist General Conference (BGC)) home, there are slight differences from most other Baptists, which are the Reformed branch. The BGC as well as Evangelical Covenant Church (a church I now attend), another Pietistic group, is from the Lutheran branch. Until last month I was firmly against infant baptism. The following My get me kicked out of my Southern Baptist church. It is a minor issue. After careful study of Scripture, I think it is okay, just as long as it is not a view toward salvation. It is like child dedication in other churches. In both cases the parents and congregation (should) make a covenant about the upbringing of the child. I already believed we don’t have to be immersed to be baptized. Another minor issue. So I am gone :-D. At the Evangelical Covenant Church I attend we all made a covenant about the upbringing of a young lady who is a believer and went through confirmation. Seacher |

God's day to you, my brother Tim, It is another example of unity. At the end of Acts 2, we see unity. We see divisions (denominations) fairly quickly (1Co 1:10-13). Verse 10 says "speak the same thing" NAS has "agree". Searcher |
