203 | Was the rich young ruler Nicodemus? | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 236089
Scripture never says. Some feel it may have been Nicodemus. Others point John Mark better known as Mark. Still others say he was never identified because he was unable to do what Jesus said he must and was lost to eternity. Since scripture never says we will have to wait until we get to heaven to learn his true identity. |

Judgement against false women prophets Ezekiel 13:17-23 (NLT) 17 “Now, son of man, speak out against the women who prophesy from their own imaginations. 18 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: What sorrow awaits you women who are ensnaring the souls of my people, young and old alike. You tie magic charms on their wrists and furnish them with magic veils. Do you think you can trap others without bringing destruction on yourselves? 19 You bring shame on me among my people for a few handfuls of barley or a piece of bread. By lying to my people who love to listen to lies, you kill those who should not die, and you promise life to those who should not live. 20 “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against all your magic charms, which you use to ensnare my people like birds. I will tear them from your arms, setting my people free like birds set free from a cage. 21 I will tear off the magic veils and save my people from your grasp. They will no longer be your victims. Then you will know that I am the LORD. 22 You have discouraged the righteous with your lies, but I didn’t want them to be sad. And you have encouraged the wicked by promising them life, even though they continue in their sins. 23 Because of all this, you will no longer talk of seeing visions that you never saw, nor will you make predictions. For I will rescue my people from your grasp. Then you will know that I am the LORD.” |

205 | Why God hear plea not to kill Nephilim? | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 236247
WOW!!!! You have about four theories intermixed and intertwined. First off there isn’t plead anywhere in Genesis 3 not to kill someone or something. Please check your reference again. We don’t know where Nephilim come from, scripture never says. Some believe they are the result of nature gone wrong when sin was introduced by Adam and Eve in the garden, others feel they may be the result of interbreeding of angels and natural women, and still others suspect they are the result of interbreeding of aliens and natural women. But because scripture is silent on their origin we simply don’t know. UFO’s and Aliens have become real popular lately. However if aliens from other planets have been visiting earth for the last 6000 years why were they so open to human contact as suggested by many back in Old Testament times and not so much today. If aliens were marrying women in the days of Noah why aren’t they marrying women today? I guess the same could be said of angels and the angel theory of Nephilium. Why back then and not now? Personally I think Aliens and Angels as fathers of Nephilium are distractions invented by Satan to keep us from focusing on the truth of scripture. We wonder about the beginnings of the giants rather than focusing on how evil people allowed themselves to become, so evil God had to destroy them. Our society and the society of most of the world’s cultures are in a headlong race to remove God and especially Jesus Christ from all consideration. As this transformation takes place we see things, unspeakable evil things being done. Our society is collapsing into the muck and mire of sin at an accelerating pace and many times this is done while Christians argue over the origin of Nephilim instead of reflecting Jesus Christ to the world. |

208 | Paul's view of life and deeds of Jesus? | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 236359
When you say seek, what do you mean? Do you mean did he interview people that knew Jesus? Or do you mean he allowed the Holy Spirit to give him insight into Jesus' life? Personally I can't see how Paul would not sought after both options. We know he traveled with the Apostles so I'm sure they shared their knowledge of Jesus with him. But I also think Paul was very guided by the Holy Spirit speaking what the Holy Spirit revealed to him about Jesus and the life Jesus and the Apostles lived. |

209 | Three Days and Three Nights | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 236362
Even the idiom counting will runs short of a night. Jesus crucified and dies as the 9th hour. If Joseph and his group must be able to get permission to get Jesus off the cross and then do it and bury Jesus between 3 and 6 we have day one. 6Pm starts Saturday so we have a night and day. At 6 pm Sunday starts so we have a 2 second night and since the grave was empty in the morning we have a 3rd day. What we miss is the third night. All the razzle dazzle of the Jewish idioms still will not work. What we forget is Passover was a Sabbath. Leviticus 23:3-5 (NASB) 3 'For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a sabbath of complete rest, a holy convocation. You shall not do any work; it is a sabbath to the LORD in all your dwellings. 4 'These are the appointed times of the LORD, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at the times appointed for them. 5 'In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight is the LORD'S Passover. In fact it is called the High Sabbath which is the term John used to describe the day. John 19:31 (NASB) 31 Then the Jews, because it was the day of preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. Jesus is the fulfillment of the Passover Lamb. On the 10th day the lamb is selected that corresponds to Jesus' triumphal entry to Jerusalem. Four days later the Nissan the 14 the Lamb is to be slaughtered and eaten starting Passover a Holy Convocation or Sabbath. Four days from Palm Sunday is Thursday not Friday. The Sabbath talked about in the story of the crucifixion was not a weekly Sabbath but the High Sabbath of Passover which fell on the Friday before the Weekly Sabbath. Now counting we have Thru to 6pm gives us 1 day. Friday gives us the first night and 2nd day. Saturday gives us the 2nd night and 3rd day. Sunday gives us the 3rd night and a resurrection before 6 am gives us a full account of 3 days and three nights. I'm sure many will object to this but it can't work any other way. Makes Jesus the fulfillment of the Passover Lamb. Also if you lay this out to any Jewish Rabbi they will agree with it. However this has been discussed many times on this forum. It has been checked and rechecked with Jewish experts and as I said there will be many that disagree. |

210 | Aren't Isaelites and Jews, one people? | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 236449
Jews or Hebrews or Children of Israel, are people with a lineage to Abraham and are usually called Jews. Israelites are usually Jewish but anyone that is a citizen of Israel is technically a Israelite or an Israeli. Gentiles are any one that does not have a lineage back to Abraham. At one time virtually all Jews practiced the Jewish religion and any one that did not was considered a Gentile however today many Jews (people with lineage to Abraham) do not practice or hold to the Jewish religion. |

211 | Can you continue to sin an go to heaven? | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 236451
That can be a very complex answer. Some say you can be saved and once you are even if you sin you will still have salvation. Others say each sin can cost you, your salvation and that you must seek forgiveness for every sin you commit. The real question here is would a true Christian intentionally sin. I think not. If you are truly committed to serving God you will avoid sin. Does that mean you live sinless? No! I think many Christians today have the problem of sin by omission. Where they find themselves in sin because they did not show brotherly love, were not peacemakers, did not care for the widow and orphans. That then leads us to the question are they really saved. Frankly I think if you are really saved you don't even have to consider this question. Why? Because you know it does not pertain to you and you are smart enough to know that you aren't to judge another’s servant, that servant will stand or fall according to his master not your opinion. |

Without saying it you are stumbling over the concept of the Trinity. The Trinity can not be fully explained or understood by mortal man. However when we trade of bodies of corruption for bodies of perfection we will be able to understand and explain the trinity perfectly. It won't be a surprise it will be more of a "light bulb moment" |

215 | In what year did Jesus die? | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 236525
They exact answer is not possible because it is not recorded in scripture. We have to rely on secular information which is hit or miss. However here is a real good explanation of how secular information is used in accordance with scriptural information to reach a conclusion. Three independent approaches to estimate the dates of the ministry of Jesus are: first, the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, second: the date of the building of the Jerusalem Temple and third, the date of the death of John the Baptist. Scholars generally estimate that the ministry of Jesus began around 27-29 AD and lasted at least one year, and perhaps three years, or more. Diverse approaches have been used to estimate the date of the crucifixion of Jesus. One approach uses the attestations of non-Christian sources such as Josephus and Tacitus Another method works backwards from the historically well established trial of Apostle Paul in Achaea to estimate the date of his conversion. Two independent astronomical methods have also been used, suggesting the same date, i.e. Friday, April 3, 33 AD. Scholars generally agree that Jesus died between 30-36 AD. Wikipedia |
