141 | "holding place" for Hell | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 234141
Paradise or Abraham's bosom was the holding place for Old Testament Saints seen in Luke 16:19-31 before Jesus led them to Heaven Eph 4:8. Hell or Hades from the Jewish perspective is a holding place of the dead with one side Paradise and the other a hot dry place Luke 16:19-31. And it is that hot dry side of Hades that is the holding place for the unrigtheous dead. Hell is not the unrigtheous' final destination as we see Hell/Hades will eventually be cast into the Lake of Fire Rev 20:14 |

Suicide is an act of hopelessness. Being hopeless and being in Christ is in itself an impossible contradiction.
143 | speaking in tongues | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 234179
No! The absence of speaking tongues does not mean you don't have the Holy Spirit in you. I realize many mistakenly teach that unless you speak in tongues you aren’t fully saved or don’t have the fullness of the Holy Spirit. But I think they are wrong. Upon our salvation we are given everything, Whether we use it or not depends on us and willingness to yield our will to the Holy Spirit. If you don’t speak in tongues it simply means you haven't learned to completely yield to the Holy Spirit to the point He can speak through you. What does that mean? It means when we are able to yield our will to the Holy Spirit to the point that He can speak through us we have become more pliable in His hands more moldable so as to accomplish what God desires. Many get caught up in the debate over whether tongues have ceased or not. However missionaries constantly tell stories of preaching in English and have the listener that speaks only in his native tongue hearing everything being said as though the missionary was speaking in that native tongue. Therefore I'm not convinced that speaking in tongues has ceased as many would have us believe. |

145 | are men to misister to men and women to | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 234206
When you say minister you could mean one one one or preaching/teaching to a congregation. In this generation it is best if we are very careful with one on one ministry. I always try to include my wife if I need to minister one on one with a woman and/or a man. If not I have a brother in the Lord that comes with me if I minister to a man. And my wife has another woman go with her if she needs to minister with a woman. If none of that is suitable to the situation then I arrange to meet and talk in a public place like a park or in a room with unobstructed view to others. As far as preaching/teaching to a congregation it can be done by both men or women but each should be under authority and accountable to someone else. |

146 | do you know any scripture pertaing | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 234210
We are to be imitators of Jesus when he sent out the disciples he sent them out in Pairs Mark 6:7. In Acts we see the Apostles always traveled with others, Paul with Barnabus and later with Silas. Moses established the law of witnesses and said that man could only be convicted on the testimony of 2 or more witnesses. Numbers 35:30 Matthew 18:16,2 Cor 13:1. Many try to trap Pastors today by false accusations so a wise man will never allow himself to be alone where he could fall into a trap. |

150 | where does it say we have to chosen min. | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 234375
We don't have to be chosen by man to minister. If we want to minster within a organization or denomination we may have to meet their requirements but to minister God's word all we need is the call of God. However make very sure you have that call before you go off and do your thing

152 | Marginal note additions? | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 234456
There are many reasons this may have happened. In some cases it appears that zealous scribes may have added to the text. In other cases it appears that unintentional scribal errors left out the text. The things to remember in all of scripture these occurances are rare and none of the suspected errors either additions or omissions change the basic message of the scripture. There are people, that hold to one particular translation, that suggest the additions or omissions seen in other translations do change the message of scripture but their charges are without merit, God through his Holy Spirit has preserved the Word of God. Different words might be used, a passage may be added or omitted but the message God intended to be seen is in fact there. If you stick with major translations such as KJV, NKJV, NASB, NLT, Holman and ESV any error omission or addition you will see have little effect and these translations convey the same message. |

155 | To whom do we turn when we repent | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 234682
The fact you used the word turn says you are on the right track. Repent is to turn, to turn from sin and go in the opposite direction. When we repent we turn from our worldly sinful ways and turn toward the path set before us by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We turn from the darkness of sin to the Light of Righteousness in Jesus Christ. Practicel application: we turn from reading pornography to reading the Bible. We turn from talking about people to talking to God in prayer. We turn from coveting more of this world to seeking more of God. |

156 | The age Mary conceived Jesus? | Bible general Archive 4 | EdB | 234695
There is no definitive answer as to how old Mary was when she was pregnant. Many estimates have her at a younger age than women are married these days, 11 to 17 being the rough estimate. Early writings like the Protoevangelium of James present her as a younger woman who had undertaken a vow of celibacy and who was marrying Joseph, an older widower, who would provide for her. |
