Looking back at the record of Peter's life bears up the proposition that Peter came through the sifting with a strengthening of His faith. During the trial he was going through, the denial of a friend that he loved so he may save his own life, fearing persecution by the religous. I'm sure satan was having a field day with fear. I mean what would have happened to him if he had not denied that he was with Jesus? Jesus was confirming who he was by telling Peter that even though he said he was willing to die for Jesus when push came to shove he would deny he even knew him not once but three times before the cock crowed. Peter had a revelation from God concerning who Jesus was but in the next sentence received a rebuke from Jesus for speaking what satan had spoken through him. What we see is that we are not Jesus. Even though we may profess to beleive God it is not until the time of trial that we must put up or shut up. How have you fared in your trials? I have had to repeat a few and will probably repeat more in the future. Peter was sifted but Peter became deeper in faith, stronger in faith, because of the trials of the days after Jesus crucifixion. I don't think we can look at the trial Peter was going through as being over until his discussion with Jesus on the shore of the lake. Do you love me? That is the qwuestion that Jesus asks us. In my heart is where the answer lies. Even with the repeated denials of being with Jesus and knowing Jesus do you think he stopped loving Jesus? Could it be that, that is how we deny Him? By losing our love for Him. Is that what is meant in Heb. 6:4 through Heb. 6:8 (NASB) 4For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. 7For ground that drinks the rain which often falls on it and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God; 8but if it yields thorns and thistles, it is worthless and close to being cursed, and it ends up being burned. How can we partake of Jesus and His divine nature and still lose our love for Him. What a heart of stone that would be. Just meditating out loud. |

Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? [KJV] jbw your zest for the word of God is invigorating and an example for all. Jesus said, ". . . unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."(John 14:6) [KJV] He is the truth. Can or would He lie? If He said it does He mean it? These questions should be settled within your heart before you let them proceed out of your mouth. Your zeal for God's word shows the burning desire that He has put into your heart for His truth. Let Him show you the way. Do not rely on the easy way. Do not rely on us, those who respond on the forum. We all have skew on the word. Might I suggest acouple of books that may help you in your study of the Word of God. "Vine's Theological Dictionary" and "Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible" There are a great many Strong's and of those I have seen this one is really good. These are not real expensive you can get both for about 40 dollars. Continue to dig deep into God's word. By the way, anytime you see ". . ." before or after a scripture, find out what was left out. Luke 22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: It is interesting that most of us conclude that what satan wants to do is a bad thing. I find myself continually being sifted by the trials and tribulations that come my way almost daily. Sifting in Jesus time was the term used for separating the grain from the chaff and stubble. What remained after sifting was the pure grain. satan had requested to sift Peter just as he had requested to sift Job. Job had to go it alone BUT Peter had Jesus. Luke 22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. Here is an example of being covered by the prayer of Jesus. Did Peter pass the test? Was he found of faith after he was sifted? How about you? And when Peter was converted did he not strengthen the brethren? How about you? Are you found faithful after the siftings? |

164 | What is the Gospel Jesus preached | 1 Cor 15:1 | Asis | 85753
Right on Radioman2 BUT. . . We all talk about the Gospel of Jesus yet I wonder how many of us can say what it is. The Gospel of Jesus is . . . I want to preach, teach the gospel just like Jesus did. What did He preach? I know it is not what some have said it is, like Jehovah's Witness or the Morman's book of Morman. But that is not what we were told to preach, "the gospel is not . . ." Scripture says, Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. [KJV] Matthew 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. [KJV] Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. [KJV] Luke 4:43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent. [KJV] Luke 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. [KJV] Luke 9:60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. [KJV] Luke 10:9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. [KJV] Luke 12:31-32 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. [32] Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. [KJV] Acts 1:3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: [KJV] Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. [KJV] Acts 19:8 And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. [KJV] Acts 20:25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more. [KJV] Acts 28:23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. [KJV] Acts 28:31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him. [KJV] Scripture is quite clear on what Jesus and the disciples, and the apostles preached. I find it most enlightening how the book of Acts ends Acts 28:30-31 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, [31] Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him. [KJV] Preaching the Kingdom of God and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ . . . All the rest of what we say is interesting but it doesn't draw people to the Lord. They want what we have - the kingdom of God. |

165 | How is Gen 27:40 fulfilled? | Gen 27:40 | Asis | 85705
At the time the prophesy was given Saul was in the loins of Jacob as we were in the loins of Adam at the time of the fall. So even though the prophecy was given to Jacob, the "house" of Jacob fulfilled it. Israelites are the decendants of Jacob - Israel. Not to be confused with Israelis. 167 | Classes of angels | John 19:42 | Asis | 85672
Part 3 and the last part. 5.Satan's angels. They are made subject to Christ (1 Peter 3:22); are sinful and rebellious (Job 4:18; 2 Peter 2:4; Jude 1:6-7; Rev. 12:7-9); evil (Psalm 78:49); to be punished (Isaiah 24:21-23; Isaiah 25:7; Matthew 24:41; Jude 1:6-7); to be cast out of heaven (Rev. 12:7-9); will fight against Christ at Armageddon (Isaiah 24:21-23; Isaiah 25:7; Rev. 12:7-9; Rev. 19:11-21); are organized into principalities and powers (Ephes. 1:21; Ephes. 3:10; Ephes. 6:10-17; Col. 2:10,15; Rev. 12:7-12). They deceive men (2 Cor. 11:14); oppose saints (Romans 8:38; Ephes. 6:10-18); fell originally with Lucifer (Isaiah 14:12-14; Ezekiel 28:11-17; Matthew 24:41; Rev. 12:7-12); hell is prepared for them (Matthew 24:41). 6.There are two classes of fallen angels: those bound (2 Peter 2:4; Jude 1:6-7; Rev. 9:11,14; Rev. 11:7; Rev. 17:8) and those who are still loose with Satan and who will be cast down to the earth in the middle of Daniel's seventieth week in the future tribulation (Rev. 12:7-12; Ephes. 6:10-17). See the reason some of Satan's angels are now bound (Genesis 6:1-4; 2 Peter 2:4; Jude 1:6-7). 7.Appearances of angels to men (see Appearances of Angels to Men.) b[ministers] Hebrew: sharath (HSN-8334), servants. Human ministers of God is the reference, not angels. The word is translated servant 5 times and minister (62 times as verb, and 17 times as a noun). Almost without exception it is used of the priests and Levites of the tabernacle and temple worship, and of the servants of Israel's kings (Psalm 104: Psalm Psalm 4; Psalm 103:21; Ezra 8:17; Isaiah 61:6; Jeremiah 33:21; Ezekiel 44:11; Ezekiel 45:4-5; Ezekiel 46:24; Joel 1:9,13; Joel 2:17). Ministers of the gospel are successors of the O.T. ministers (Luke 1:2; 1 Cor. 3:5; 1 Cor. 4:1; 2 Cor. 3:6; 2 Cor. 6:4; Hebrews 1:7). c[flaming fire] Ministers a Flame of Fire The word for "flaming" here is Hebrew: lahat (HSN-3857), to blaze or set on fire. The word is used of the flaming sword of the cherubim who guarded the way of the tree of life (Genesis 3:24); of the wicked being burned up at Armageddon (Malachi 4:1); of fire burning the wicked rebels in Israel (Psalm 106:18); of a flame burning up trees (Psalm 83:14; Joel 1:19); of hell fire punishing the wicked (Deut. 32:22); of bitter anger speaking forth (Psalm 57:4); of bitter anger in battle (Isaiah 42:25); and of the fury of Satan (Job 41:21). It can be seen from these uses that God's ministers being a flame of fire means that they are to be so full of zeal and the anointing of the Spirit that nothing can stand before them (John 2:17). Those in ministry are to have absolute authority and power over all the works of the devil (Matthew 18:18; Mark 16:17-18; Luke 10:19; Luke 24:49; John 14:12-15; Acts 1:4-8; 1 Cor. 4:20; 1 Cor. 12:4-8) and represent God among men, as exemplified by Christ, the apostles and early believers. This is the end. Lots of Scripture to check out I hope this helps. |

Here is a little information I found in Dake's Annotated Bible. Be a Berean. Just because someone wrote it in a Bible doesn't make it true. Let the Holy Spirit be you teacher. This will probably take two posts. Asis Psalm 104:4 a [angels spirits] The Spirit World The word "spirit" is found 551 times in Scripture. From these references, the 297 times "angel" is found, and from over 20,000 others about God who is a spirit being, we learn all there is to know about the spirit world—all the various kinds of spirit beings that inhabit the unseen material worlds in space and under the earth (Phil. 2:10; Rev. 5:3,13). He is called: (1) The angel of God (Genesis 21:17; Genesis 31:11; Exodus 3:2; Judges 6:20; Judges 13:9; Acts 27:23) (2) The angel of the Lord (Genesis 16:7-11; Genesis 22:11,15; Exodus 14:19; Numbers 22:22-35; Judges 2:1,4; Judges 6:11-12,21-22; Judges 13:3-6,13-21; 2 Kings 1:3,15; 2 Kings 19:35; 1 Chron. 21:12-30; Psalm 34:7; Psalm 35:5-6; Isaiah 37:36; Zech. 1:9-19; Zech. 3:1-6; Zech. 12:8; Acts 7:30-38). In all other places where "the angel of the Lord" is found, the term refers to ordinary angels, as in Matthew 1:20,24; Matthew 2:13,19; Matthew 28:2-5; Luke 1:11-38; Luke 2:9-21; Acts 5:19; Acts 8:26; Acts 10:3; Acts 12:7-23. (3) His angel (Genesis 24:7,40; Exodus 23:20; Exodus 33:2; Numbers 20:16; 2 Chron. 32:21; Daniel 3:28; Daniel 6:22) (4) The angel (Genesis 48:16; Eccles. 5:6; Hosea 12:4) (5) Mine angel (Exodus 23:23; Exodus 32:34) (6) Angel of His presence (Isaiah 63:9) (7) Angel (Rev. 8:3-5; Rev. 10:1-11:3) 2. The word angel is used of common angels in Psalm 104:4. 3. It is used of men in Rev. 1:1,20; Rev. 2:1,8,12,18; Rev. 3:1,7,14; Rev. 19:9,10; Rev. 22:6-8,16. In other places it is nearly always clear that common angels who are spirit beings and heavenly creatures are referred to. End of part 1 |

To all believers STOP If you abide in Me I will abide in you STOP For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak. STOP I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you. STOP I will place my Spirit in you. STOP You will walk by the Spirit. STOP But He will not tell you the way to go. STOP? He will not tell you to turn left or right. STOP? He will be silent until I return. Stop? If you don't need to hear from Me I won't talk to you. RIGHT! Stay in touch GOD never stop I find it hard to accept that godly men and women do not seek direction for their lives by asking GOD. How did these men and women know that they are to be involved in ministry. I have yet to find the verse that says, "Gregory Koukl be a pastor and write bizarre and wierd stuff on the internet." So how did he know what to do for the LORD with his life? I don't know about you, but for me God has used other men and women, some saved and some not, He has used His word, my thoughts, and something I can only describe as an inner knowing, to direct my path. Go to Dearborn. Don't go to Ronanoke. I knew it was God. Maybe because I was looking for His direction I heard Him. I have made some incredible blunders in my life because I did not seek God for direction. I missed God. I feel for those who walk the Christian walk alone without the guidance of God, the Holy Spirit and Jesus. Maybe if we just got quiet we would hear what God is saying to us. John 5:37-38 “And the Father who sent Me, He has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time nor seen His form. “You do not have His word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him whom He sent. 172 | Did Jesus have anxiety? | 1 John 4:18 | Asis | 85405
Good evening mommapbs Anxiety is 1 a : painful or apprehensive uneasiness of mind usually over an impending or anticipated ill b : fearful concern or interest c : a cause of anxiety 2 : an abnormal and overwhelming sense of apprehension and fear often marked by physiological signs (as sweating, tension, and increased pulse), by doubt concerning the reality and nature of the threat, and by self-doubt about one's capacity to cope with it The thing about Jesus that separates Him from us is the way he dealt life. He was without sin not without feelings. He suffered every temptation we suffer, only He never gave in to any temptation. When the trials came He went to God. He didn't read a book or listen to a tape or ask a rabbi, He prayed to GOD. He prayed to the Father three times to take the cup from Him. He was so intense that He sweat blood. Luke 22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. [KJV] agonia: a struggle (properly the state), i.e. (figurative) anguish :- agony. But regardless how He felt about what He was going to face He WAS OBEDIENT. Obedient unto death even the death of the cross. The sin of Adam was rebellion, disobedience to God. Romans 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. [KJV] Our restoration by Jesus was obedience to God. By His suffering He learned obedience. Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; [KJV] After asking three times He set His face toward the cross. The stuggle, agony, anguish over. Peace and determination replaced any other thought. HE TRUSTED IN THE LORD! How do we deal with the trials in life which cause us agony? Do we trust in the Lord? Jesus is our model, He has shown us Kingdom behavior. Cast all your cares upon Jesus because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Trust in the LORD with ALL your heart; and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). He will see you through just as He saw Jesus through. |

173 | will we receive persecutions? | Mark 10:30 | Asis | 85342
Jbw The Holy Bible, New International Version Mark 10:24 through Mark 10:31 (NIV) 24The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is (Mark 10:24 Some manuscripts is for those who trust in riches) to enter the kingdom of God! 25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 26The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?” 27Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” 28Peter said to him, “We have left everything to follow you!” 29“I tell you the truth,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life. 31But many who are first will be last, and the last first.” We must take scripture in context, that is look at it in the situation in which it was spoken or written. Jesus has just had a discussion with the rich young ruler who couldn’t give up his riches to follow Jesus. He loved them (his riches) too much. Jesus says money can cause us to take our eyes off God. Then He says man can save no one but with God all things are possible. Then the disciples said, “Hey wait a minute, we gave up everything to follow you. We gave up our jobs I had a fishing boat, he had a great tax collecting business, he was working with his ole man and making good money. What about us, we gave it all up to follow you. What do we get?” Its not about getting. Its about commitment to Jesus. Give it all up (Phil. 3:7 through Phil. 3:9 (NIV) 7But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.) for Him and your reward will be much greater than anything you can attain in this world. He then tells then it doesn’t matter when you choose to follow Him, 30 years ago or a minute ago the reward is the same. I know there are those out there who have a much better handle on the meaning of these scriptures maybe some will respond and give you more points of view. |

175 | Did appearance change with language? | Gen 2:7 | Asis | 85333
Greetings jbw There are no ignorant questions just ignorant answers and this is one of those ignorant answers. By the way, never stop asking questions. Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, . . . [KJV] I heard a preacher once say he couldn't understand why we fight among the races. After all we all have the same mother . . . DIRT. There are five kinds of dirt. Black dirt, yellow dirt, white dirt, brown dirt, and red dirt and five races. Seriously the bible doesn't address these kinds of wonders directly. And actually, I have pondered the same kinds of questions. For instance, did the last Adam look like the first Adam? In the scope of things what matters is our belief that what God says in His word is truth. How is our heart towards God? Do we have a pride issue? Is there anything I love more than Jesus? These are the questions that change lives. Although I still wonder why I take more bags of garbage out to the curb than bags of groceries in from the car. Does anyone know? |

176 | Thanks to God? | Ps 30:12 | Asis | 85266
justme Three years ago I started to have signs of a heart attack. I prayed that God would not allow it to come to pass. I had been praying 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. I was quiting smoking and I was starting an extreme diet in two days, I had turned from my wicked ways. The pains seemed to go away and I thanked God and praised Him. I slept good that night. In the mornig on my way to work the pain came back. Much worse than the night before. I feel that I was afraid to acknowledge that I might die from this. Now here is the point of my story. I became aware that if I died because of this I would be with Jesus and if God wasn't finished using me for the work He had for me I wasn't going to die. Either way that was a good thing. It was a win-win situation. A peace fell upon me so great that when I went into my bosses office and told him I was having a heart attack and he should call 911 he did not believe me. Lord, I ask that the peace that is beyind all understanding would come upon justme right now. Your word says That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. God even thopugh we cannot see each other we are gathering in the name of Jesus and we ask for healing for Ray and justme. Lord we are touching ion our heart as if we are in contact like my wife and I just were, agreeing in petition for justme and Ray. Lord I thank you that you are a God that answers prayer. We look to you for our provision. You are the healer, the great physician. We thank you for your touch upon justme and Ray. Praise you Jehovah Rapha, Jehovah Jira, Jehovah Shalom. We come before you in the name of you precious Son Jesus. |

177 | If Gen 1,2 are not true, then what is? | Gen 1:27 | Asis | 85258
Radioman2 "If Genesis chapter 1 and chapter 2 don't tell us the truth, then why should we believe anything else in the Bible?" Isn't that the point. The real discussion is about "Is there absolute truth?" The religion of "science" is trying to explain the workings of God's creation without acknowledging God. Whenever a "new" discovery is made it changes all the "truth" that came before. We even go so far as to explain the realness of the bible by what is called Biblical Archeology. Even though archeology tries to put artifacts into the mold that is already made. The fact is, there is only one ABSOLUTE TRUTH! GOD IS and the Bible is His word. Well maybe two Num. 23:19 (NASB) 19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? |

178 | Us or them, for now or dead with Apostle | John | Asis | 85219
3 How does the greek grammar go against the face value of our forgiving sins of another. In my church when someone comes to give their life to Jesus the say "The Sinners Prayer." We tell them their sins are forgiven. God forgives sin only Him. NO DOUBT. But Jesus as a man (Phil 2:7) filled with the power of the Holy Spirit (Luke 4:1,14) repeatedly said "Your sins are forgiven" This is the phrase that got him into trouble with the religous leaders more than anything else He said. If I am "in Him" isn't it Him who lives not I. Cant He, through me, forgive sins like He said in the gospels. He knew God is the one who forgives sin just like I know and all believers know yet He said, Matt. 9:6 (NIV) "But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then he said to the paralytic, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” Again: Mark 2:5 (NIV) 5When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” As I understand it, and maybe I'm wrong, if I use the name of Jesus I have the authority Jesus has given us. I also know that all scripture must be taken together. For someone to have there sins forgiven they must confess them and He is quick to forgive them. It could never be just me. It must be from a repentant heart and God. If you saw a fellow human sinking in the sands of despair and seeng that they have cried out to God would you not tell them their sins are forgiven and wouldn't it be true. |

Thank you DAIRYLEADER5 Your insight into the word is appreciated. I agree that there are some who believe this part of the Bible and not that. I have wondered how they reconcile that God would take the time to say something and have someone write it down so we can read it, yet it is not for us. It is a wonderment. Have you ever thought about how in Genesis 2:7 God breathed the "puff (naphach)of life" into Adam and made him a living soul and Jesus "puffed (lambano ) on them and said receive (Re meaning again, anew, back and ceive meaning to take, hold, or grasp), take again, the Holy Spirit and made us a living spirit. We say that when we receive the Holy Spirit we are reborn or born again. Could it be that we became like we were before the fall? That Adam was born when God breathed in him and we are reborn when Jesus breathes on us and we REceive Him? REstored REconciled REdeemed REmade REvived |
